Leathersich is still in Mesa trying to get over a case of the yips. If they go with Montgomery in the rotation, I think they'll want to keep Zastryzny up. Send down Peña and bring up Johnson for now. Ah, I misremembered Leathersich for Rosscup I think. Yeah having Zastryzny as a handcuff/piggyback for Montgomery to start seems like the right play. Especially since the rest of the pen now has at least 1 day of rest. -
So.. Anderson to the DL, Grimm back to Chicago Zastryzny/Pena back to Iowa, La Stella to Chicago that seem about right? I think they'd prefer Zastryzny to stay up but he's also out of commission longer than Pena at the moment. They could also call up someone like Johnson or Leathersich for a few days too.

He's only making 3.5 million, that's barely middle reliever money. If they let that keep him in the pen(which is a bad idea, his problem is not repeat trips through the order and his repertoire is poorly suited for a pen transition) I'm going to be even more upset than when they let it keep Montgomery out of the rotation to start the year.

If he legitimately felt a twinge in his back at all they'll put him on the DL. I don't want to see him on the 25 man again though, even Zastryzny would be preferable.

They should have had a special ring ceremony before this awful game to give Matusz, Federowicz, and Warren their rings. Stand em all at first base and have Lester throw the rings to them from the mound

Szczur is like the 27th best player on the 40 man right now, losing him is not a big deal. He didn't have a spot, I get that, but it would be a kick in the horsefeathers if he goes to St. Louis. They have a need for another outfielder, I could see them pouncing on him if they get the chance. Regardless, I liked Matt and hope he goes somewhere where he can get more playing time. I mean, he's fine and all, but I certainly won't care if he ends up on a rival. Every organization has no shortage of players of his caliber, whether you call him Matt Szczur or Tommy Pham.

The last double he probably should've been able to cut it off, which in hindsight would've prevented the 5th run. Other than that there weren't any issues that I saw.

I almost mentioned Maples last night, and then started Verducci's book and saw his name again ironically enough. It'll be interesting how quickly they push him, he's Rule 5 eligible so combined with his age there's at least some urgency. -
maybe not today because he took Castro's shoulder to his jaw, but Contreras needs some quality time working on pitch blocking

I've never actually seen Judge do an interview, so I like to imagine he just answers every question with "My Name is Judge" until that person goes away.
