  1. [tweet] [/tweet] Estrada has reverse splits, but this is still a very weird lineup
  2. Mike Trout has two home runs tonight, to run his wOBA to .471. The difference between him and 2nd place Joey Votto is greater than the gap between 2nd place and 33rd (Bour).
  3. I didn't hear a plug for WADE BOGGS' CARPET WORLD, so I don't think it was him
  4. Torrez has a very shiny ERA, but not striking anyone out as a 24 year old reliever at AA doesn't give a lot of excitement for his future. Maybe he keeps it up he's a strike throwing middle reliever for the time he has options? Even that is an uphill battle though.
  5. I agree, no sound on. Was there an explanation? Len thinks that the throw took him to that position so its not blocking the plate. the ole 'the throw made me kick out my back foot as I easily catch the ball' bit
  6. I was at the Jays game last Sunday and saw Darwin Barney hit a home run. It's at that point that I realized that this season is just a video game where the difficulty sliders are way out of whack, which gives me a lot more serenity when the Cubs don't win. Also I saw Josh Donaldson hit a ball farther than any I've ever seen in person, but that didn't warp my perspective of reality like Barney's wall scraper.
  7. This is a fun read on a High School trick play that I didn't realize was possible: http://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/20294816/skunk-outfield-how-most-epic-trick-play-history-broke-baseball In short, being out of the baseline requires a tag attempt, so you can wander from first base into right field to try to draw a throw, and that led to a 2+ minute (!) standoff.
  8. Lackey running the bases with all the urgency of a slow-pitch softball catcher
  9. The last 5 WS winners won 81, 84, 71, 76, and 88 games the year after their title. Interestingly, the last 5 WS losers fared much better, winning 87, 95, 90, 93, and 93 games, which at least suggests if there's a hangover effect it's not (entirely) related to the duration of the postseason.
  10. It's not a terrible decision, but I'm still gonna laugh when using Iglesias to get 5 outs comes back to burn them. It might not even be til tomorrow too.
  11. even by LHP standards that was a heinous balk on the throw to 1st
  12. How is that not a swing for Votto I swear he has hypnotized every ump
  13. how in the world do you conclude he's out there he was obviously safe in realtime
  14. Joey Votto is 6-2, but only 5-4 when facing a pitch that might approach his waistline
  15. [tweet]https://twitter.com/ra_parker/status/896970287228604417[/tweet] [tweet] [/tweet]
  16. Underwood is a monorail salesman you fools
  17. This is the quintessential 2017 Arrieta start. good results that could've been worse, yet still is tinged with disappointment because he was one batter from great and gave up a HR instead.
