  1. Can we get a check-in on Yonder Alonso? And Mark Appel isn't Andrew Cashner a deep sea fisherman now
  2. did we send Josh Byrnes and Luhnow World Series rings for gift wrapping Bryzzo
  3. I end up watching mostly MLS soccer at this point, and every time I end up watching EPL or Bundesliga I'm struck by how clean the game is. Then I watch CONCACAF qualifiers and get horrified at the goonery they're letting slide. Panama should be playing with 9 at most right now.
  4. so Jacque Jones was suspended because he's being sued over revenge porn, did not see that coming [tweet] [/tweet]
  5. "anything up the middle is going to be a basehit" [Contreras hits a laser up the middle that's one step to Murphy's right] Darling is getting money to do this.
  6. Tommy Pham is at home watching UFC and suddenly got angry. He does not know why.
  7. Strasburg hasn't had a 3rd time through the order dip this year, and Dusty sure isn't going to yank him early. You need to hit the pitches you think you can hit and not take pitches as a virtue.
  8. just gonna post this every time something dumb happens in Cubs games from now on [tweet] [/tweet]

  10. Yes, you get the opportunity to pick a 25 man roster each round. Last year they took out a position player for another reliever for the NLCS, probably because of the 5 to 7 game series shift.
  11. HP: Cory Blaser 1B: Ron Kulpa 2B: Fieldin Culbreth 3B: Laz Diaz LF: Jerry Layne, CC RF: Will Little No idea if that is accurate from the google search Those are the right umpires, at least: http://m.mlb.com/news/article/257199740/wild-card-division-series-umpires-announced/
  12. Hendricks is an elite ground ball guy, so they sacrificed OF defense to have a good enough lineup to fit in Javy v. Strasburg. By the time Strasburg is out Schwarber is either gonna get pinch hit for by Almora or double switched out for Happ/Jay.
  13. He also doesn't really have anyone worthwhile to bring instead of guys like Solis and Romero. I guess he could've tried Cole as a long reliever, but not a terribly difficult choice since Ross and Kelley's arms blew up, leaving the alternatives to be guys like Cole and Jaxon.
  14. save for a 2 week stretch at the start of his Cubs tenure, Wilson's problem has been exclusively throwing strikes. In his last 15 outings he has 20 K and only 9 hits in 12 IP, it's the 10 walks that are the problem. If he throws strikes he's going to be great, so hopefully a week without game environments has helped him get his mechanics 100% in order.
  15. I'm very glad there's Cubs playoff baseball to watch instead. They could win 7-0 and it still wouldn't be a relief, so there's no way that's going to be a pleasant viewing experience.
  16. It would be nice to set the Nats back a decade like Baker did the Cubs. Maybe play so hard and with such joy that Harper is convinced to sign with the Cubs? The Cubs are developing a habit of crushing a franchise's spirit in the NLDS and them coincidentally being unable to recover. Cardinals haven't been back to the playoffs since, and the Giants were horrific this year and look far from a playoff berth in that division. The Nationals have less competition, but it's not difficult to see Dusty's usage come home to roost next year with a few pitching injuries, then Harper leaves, Murphy is 34 and it all falls apart.
  17. By Sunday that Nats are going to deny that there ever was a Max Scherzer.
  18. Most of the play by play guys are fine(Anderson was a bit annoying but nothing obnoxious), the real issue is the color guys saying absolute nonsense. My main consolation if they don't make the World Series again is that I won't have to listen to Smoltz one minute more than I need to. It probably wouldn't work, but I wonder if you had a national PBP guy in a 3 man booth with the regular color guys from each team. Like imagine a Cubs/Mets NLCS with Buck, JD, and Keith Hernandez. 3 man booths are generally intolerable, but that's one way I could imagine it working.

  20. Good. I wouldn't have cared if Lester and Q were flipped, but I believe in Lester's last couple starts, and this way Q gets his first playoff start at home.
  21. It's no Tebow version of , but it's pretty good
