  1. A team can expose anyone they please to waivers, I'm pretty sure of that.
  2. Why would you say that? Prior and Zambrano would pitch 4 of 7 games in a series, if not 5. No one has that type of pitching one two pitching punch in the NL save Houston, and it's nearly impossible for both of us get in.
  3. You know what? You're right. You would know better than professional sports trainers with years of experience and firsthand knowledge of Nomar's swing and step. This isn't basketball, Nomar's not exerting himself the entire time he's in the game. He has just as much chance of re-injuring himself in the 1st as the 9th. If you can play 7 innings of baseball, you can play 9. What reasons are there for him not to play everyday?
  4. From today: Maddux pitched well Ohman pitched well(he's been a nice surprise this year) Murton and Cedeno didn't overexert themselves Dusty didn't stupidly pitch Wood or Williamson on consecutive days There weren't a lot of positives today.
  5. For reference, Patterson has a .075 IsoD at AAA.
  6. Crimeny Dusty, you love the L/R so much, LAWTON IS HORRIBLE AGAINST LHP!!!!! You know you're putting in Hollandsworth next inning anyway, let Murton hit!
  7. There is a rumor here in NY that Brian Schneider is interested in reuniting with Omar Menia. I don't know what his contract status looks like though. It would take a trade. Schneider isn't a Free Agent until after the 2007 season.
  8. We all wanted to get Beltran/Drew/Maggs. Well, Maggs got injured, Drew got injured I believe, and Beltran sucks this season. Burnitz, surprisingly is better than all of them this season. I wanted Jose Guillen.
  9. Thanks for the welcome. :-) Yup, this next year will be my first year as a grad student. I'm studying meteorology. Cool, myself and Cubbies75 are incoming freshman at Mizzou, and the guy who goes by Mizzou is a student as well.
  10. When he was interviewed on WGN the day before the deadline, Hendry said that Pie would have been called up. Here's the link to the game thread.
  11. Welcome to the Forum! Are you a student in Columbia?
  12. how? didn't he just say he was close to being recalled? because he was - had he not been on the DL, he would have been recalled with murton. According to one of our NSBB Correspondents there was absolutely no truth to that whatsoever. Maybe there's since been a quote saying that he was going to get the call, but people in the Jaxx organization said that wasn't an option. I'm pretty sure Hendry himself said that Pie would've been up or something to that effect.
  13. He's also no guarantee to be better than Walker, who we have a very cheap option for next season.
  14. good lord man, do you make a serious effort to post the most pessimistic things you can think of? he's been on the team for less than a week. Wait a second man, everything that is a so called pessimistic view has been right on since the beginning of the season. So just because you have optimistic views dont rag on me because I have different ones. Pessimism is fine, just have a reason for it. Calling Lawton worthless based on his first 4-5 games as a Cub is most certainly not a good reason.
  15. I don't know why I'm interested in this game. We are the inferior team today talent wise, we should lose. We can only hope for the unlikely.
  16. I'm not a fan of Macias starting this often. Does anyone have his numbers since he has started in CF? It's can't be worse than what Corey was giving us in the 1st half of the season. Macias as a CF is 5 for 14 this year. Way too small to draw any conclusions, and Patterson produced at a better rate than Macias has this season, as bad as Corey has been. That's how bad Macias is. Plus Macias is mediocre at best defensively in CF. Explain how Patterson has produced @ a better rate this year than Macias? K/BB rates? OBP? avg.? Runs Created Macias' OBP is .308 & Corey's is .270 Corey has a better slg % over Macias by only 26 points. Macias also has a better batting Avg. So how has Corey been better @ creating runs than Macias, TY? Their OPS's are similar, but RC is more complex than that, I posted more about it in the thread about Grissom.

  19. Same as Maddux, the option vests with 400 IP in '05-'06. I'd say it's really unlikely that he automatically vests. Thanks...so the option doesnt automatically vest. Does it then become a team option? If so, for how much and what is the buy out? And yes, unless wood pitches 320 innings or so next year, Id say its highly unlikely to auto vest. It's a mutual option, 13.5 million with a 3 million buyout.
  20. Looks like Hendry will try to pull his annual lightning in a bottle act. http://www.suntimes.com/output/cubs/cst-spt-kiley06.html Hey, it's one of the 4 non-catchers in the National League worse than Macias this year! Please explain what stats are you referring to. Going by Runs Created, or more specifically RC/G, which is just like taking Hits and turning it into batting average. There are several ways to calculate Runs Created, THT(where I got the numbers from) isn't specific, but here's what they have to say: When you google Runs Created, this is the formula that they show: (H + BB + HBP - CS - GIDP)*(TB + .26(TBB - IBB + HBP) + .52(SH + SF + SB))/(AB + TBB + HBP + SH + SF)
  21. Same as Maddux, the option vests with 400 IP in '05-'06. I'd say it's really unlikely that he automatically vests.
  22. I missed last night's game. Can someone expand on the 0-4 the boxscore gave, please? How'd he field, how'd he swing? Was he swinging at the first pitches or was he working the count. I've got a feeling you're right, Scott, about Nomar being a liability. But if I were Dusty . . . er, if it was me managing the team, I don't think I would have the guts to take that risk of letting Neifi start over the former star. The potential for Nomar being a "sparkplug" is too great. Tapped out to Glavine his first AB on the first pitch. Lined out to LF after several pitches in his second AB. He topped one to Glavine later in the game, and I don't remember his other AB. I definitely say keep him in there. He can't be worse than Neifi.
