  1. I think it would be really cool if the NCAA selection committee did this. "Hey Worcester, yeah, Tucson committee chair here. Yeah, we're wondering how much it's gonna take to not put Arizona in your regional. Heck, we're even willing to put in the good word for Boston U as a 14 seed if you help us out. What's that? Boston U went 8-23, and only has 4 players due to most of their team losing a barfight to the BU women's lacrosse team? 5 million then."
  2. Well that doesn't quite count as three, since he didn't hit the quote button to see it.
  3. If they're grown men, I'm sure they can take it and not get all sensitive. So while we're disregarding people, we'll just call everyone who they feel applies whiny, stupid, arrogant, etc. Oh well, at least we'll finally be able to call out [you] for being a jerk all the time. So strawman argument's the equivalent of calling someone a jerk now. The intrepretation gets richer. All I said is that the argument lacked evidence and was weak. That's not harsh whatsoever, but keep holding that cape. ;) One(I think)...

  5. Going by the Rotoworld reports, he turned down Baltimore's 5/65 offer to stay in Chicago for 5/60. Not exactly humanitarian to me.
  6. No, but that may be your 1400th post needlessly bashing other posters while thinking that emoticon means something though. Not signing Furcal doesn't = stopgaps everywhere, that's a strawman argument itself for crying out loud. Trade for Bradley, get an Abreu, Wilkerson, Dunn, Gomes, etc., and maybe let Cedeno play SS. Where's the stopgap? Bashing?? Now that's a strawman. Nice disregard for your buddy's hyperbole. Consistent. I just now read the post you were referring too. But this crap is what I'm talking about. The point is made when you question whether "Hendry put all his eggs into Furcal's basket". It's a valid point, I don't have a strong opinion one way or another. But you continually try to act victimized like one side of the argument is always at fault for not being perfect, and it really needs to stop. Make the point you want to make, stop there, don't attack the poster. "Victimized" = strawman I said the argument was a strawman argument. How the f did I "attack" the poster?? Don't spin off your chair friend w/ such accusations. I'll be sure to call every argument I see as flawed "Hendry defender strawman # X", and see the response that I get.
  7. I disagree. Furcal is now the 2nd highest paid shortstop behind Jeter. He's going to make more money than Tejada next year. That's a complete joke. On a side note, how bad does it look now that we didn't put more effort into getting Tejada a couple of years ago??? Didn't we have AGonz making $5.5 million though?? How much you think Tejada would get in this market?? $16 million per?? Tough to say. Remember Tejada only had one year before his payday with an OBP over .350, and it was when he hit 30 points better than all previous years. Because he was close to the same age, and has more power, I'd say he'd probably make similar, maybe more depending on how many teams were in the running(and who those teams were).
  8. I'd rather have Bradley, plus according to at least one report, signing Furcal would make the Dodgers more likely to dump Milton.

  11. Nomar before shredding his groin: .157/.228/.176/.404 (56 PA's) Nomar after shredding his groin: .318/.347/.531/.878 (188 PA's)
  12. Williams, Pinto/Marmol/Nolasco, Craig(or the like) for Lugo and Gomes. Lugo may not be significantly better than Cedeno, but he's the perfect bridge to giving Cedeno the SS job in '07, after more AB's to build on his somewhat limited success.
  13. Furcal signing with the Dodgers makes Bradley coming here a greater possibility, this is a good thing. Trade for Bradley and Lowe(Hill, Patterson, Mitre), then trade for Lugo and Gomes(Williams, Pinto/Nolasco/Marmol, Craig). Offseason over except for the bench.
  14. What, are touchdowns only worth 4 points in Bowl games?
  15. So have half the hosts on the Score. I just called The Score and when asked what my comment was going to be I told them that because of Wood's NTC the Cubs have to get his permission before a trade can be completed. The phone screener asked someone else in the room if Kerry had a NTC (insulting), then came back to me and said no he doesn't because he's not a 5-10 guy! I insisted that he did and that clown disconnected my line. I wish someone else would tell those fools the truth. Holmes and Cannelias are talking like the Cubs can ship Kerry out without his consent. :? :x Morans. You think since it's their job they would know this, it's not like it wasn't reported when he signed.
  16. Time to watch OU-Villanova basketball.
  17. How do we know that the Cubs weren't only going to commit 8 mil a year to Furcal, and upped the offer to 50 million to deal with the competition? I don't like the idea of giving Furcal 50 or 55 mil, but I won't go nuts if it happens. That said, Furcal isn't so great a must-have that we should up the offer to these proportions to outbid the Dodgers for his services?
  18. The Rangers do get a big name pitcher though and doesn't Young play 2b? We get Zito in the proposed deal. They could move Young back to 2B, but what does that solve? Now they have a hole at SS. EDIT: Forgot about Wood. Todd Walker is in the rumored deal as well. I would think that he'd play 2nd for the Rangers. Young would stay at short. My mind is mush in this thread. Never mind me, I'll just go back to making fun of krazy Phil Rogers.
  19. Forgot about Kinsler too. Still, I'd be surprised to see them make that deal.

  21. That's not Linda Cohn. I think it's Pam Oliver, but definitely not Linda.
  22. I don't see much of Jackson, but doesn't he do strictly west coast games? Musberger is beyond terrible, especially when he finds his special player to obsess over every game. Chris Gamble was the worst. "Gamble's lining up in the slot! What could this mean?" "Gamble's covering a WR that Purdue doesn't normally throw to! Interesting turn of events." "Gamble's drinking lemon flavored Gatorade instead of his typical Grape! More bulletins as events warrant!"
  23. So the Rangers trade Soriano and Mench for prospects, when they don't really have a replacement for either? The A's trade Zito for Soriano, when they have the superior-in-every-way Ellis at 2B?
  24. That trade rumor was an unnecessary qualifier.
