  1. Can Juan work on hitting more XBH's this year? Please?
  2. Maybe a couple of years prior, but I think he proved that to be a myth in '05. Home: 331/386/527/913 Away: 330/384/500/884 Now show the three year averages... You said that no one was close to Tejada anymore, and there were several guys that were very close, and Young was better.
  3. MSU lost to Hawaii, but it was their first game of the year and their entire core went down with cramps in the second half. I don't really know how you can say they don't look like a top 10 team. They've beaten two top 10 teams, and lost to another in triple OT. Their defense and rebounding are improving since Trannon came back, and their offense is firing on all cylinders. If they aren't a top 10 team, then who is?
  4. Look out Dee is starting to find his shot, the further he gets from his surgery the better. Did anyone else notice the announcers talking about how great Luther Head is then not recognizing it was him sitting behind Dee and James during the game? If he is so great, why don't you recognize him. :alright: i didnt notice luther either, but i wasnt watching really closely. oregon just looked really bad, unless thats just the defense. randle needs to get in on the scoring more often, and arnold looked good today. If Randle gets going, I like the Illini's chances of winning the Big 10 again. Illinois is undefeated and hasn't come close to playing their best ball yet. The lost a lot when Deron and Head left, but they are better defensively and are a lot more physical now, IMO. I am a lot more optimistic about the team than I was before the season started, mainly because MSU, Indiana and Iowa aren't living up to their billing. They aren't living up to their billing? Each of them has a bad loss, but each of them has played a much tougher schedule. Gonzaga, Arizona, BC, Texas, Kentucky(twice), Duke, and probably NC State are all better than anyone Illinois has played thus far. Iowa may be showing that they aren't as good as advertised, but Horner went down late in that UNI game, and with him there's a decent chance they still only have one loss.
  5. Nomar's played 142 games the last 2 years. Bradley has played 216. Nomar is a sidearming SS, and Bradley is a well above average defensive CF. I think Bradley would make a much easier transition there than Nomar.
  6. And in all nine threads you've complained about there being too many threads. Why not just let the mods decide how to do it? Well, the 4 post JC Romero deal thread just got pushed off the first page.... Seriously though, it's not like it's pushing other discussions to obscurity.
  7. Hahahaha, that was one of the most ironic things I've ever read. Well done Mr. Angelos.
  8. Michigan State's offense is really firing on all cylinders. Gray and Trannon are really making strides to shore up the defense and rebounding. I feel really good about them doing a lot of damage to the B10.
  9. Part of the argument here is durability, though, so I don't like using rate stats when that's the case. Ramirez+Lugo = 43 Win Shares, 36 offensive Tejada+Mora = 45 Win Shares, 36 offensive And I don't like Win Shares at all. :D Let's look at it this way: Tejada is the best offensive SS in baseball still playing SS. Bar none. I'd put ARam behind: - ARod - Wright - Ensberg - Chipper - Rolen Again, don't get me wrong. I really like ARam. But Tejada is a better SS than ARam is a 3B. But I'll emphasize again that I wouldn't do the trade if I had to give up Aramis. I'm not a Win Shares fan either. The point is though, that even though Tejada is better relative to his position, his production is higher than Tejada's so that a weaker SS relative to an alternative 3B still makes it a better combination. I also think rate stats are better to look at it, since Ramirez isn't that stricken, and none of the other players have had serious injury issues.
  10. I know everyone would like to see something guaranteed solid to fill that question mark, but the quesion has to be asked: does that lineup allow the Corey Patterson Experiment to continue on the northside of Chicago? Would Cliff Floyd playing RF be enough to allow Neifi to start at SS? Same question.
  11. Part of the argument here is durability, though, so I don't like using rate stats when that's the case. Ramirez+Lugo = 43 Win Shares, 36 offensive Tejada+Mora = 45 Win Shares, 36 offensive
  12. Using VORP Rate(I don't like VORP very much anyways), in 2005: Tejada: .419 Mora: .260 Total: .679 Ramirez: .407 Lugo: .303 Total: .710
  13. FWIW, Ramirez is 2 years younger than Tejada as well.
  14. I'll be shocked if Murton's doing that badly after 100 ABs. Don't be.
  15. Pet Peeve: Rolen is completely unnecessary in this discussion. We're talking about Ramirez, and when a Cards fan questions his injuries, the first thing brought up is Rolen. It's the same thing if a Cub fan questions Carpenter's durability, and a Card fan responds by questioning Prior or Wood. It doesn't accomplish anything but upsetting people.
  16. Mizzou with a great comeback and thrilling one point win at home!!! Against Texas A&M Corpus Christi. In other sad news, the Mizzou volleyball team lost in the Elite 8.
  17. Like CFICT said, it's unlikely at this point that Bradley is non-tendered. Even if he were, it makes sense to give up something to make sure that he will be yours, if he's non-tendered, he can always turn you down. Not so when you have his rights.
  18. The concept of "not blocking Murton" is one I want to avoid. If you put Murton out there and he flops, you're looking at 400+ John Mabry plate appearances. Can we please be a deep team? Maybe just try it once? Join. Except Huff isn't exactly atop my wish list. If BWilk is in the fold, I'm still going after Bradley, Floyd, Mench, maybe RonDL before Huff. Of course, if taking Huff makes it easier to get Lugo.... Yep, sometimes you have to rob Peter to pay Paul. I still feel comfortable that there are some decent choices still out there. How long ago was it that TB wanted too much in return for Huff? Back when LaMar was still GM.
  19. Just in case anyone's counting, I do NOT want Bradley. Never have, never will. If he was ever able to produce at a high level for at least 2-3 seasons AND played in 150+ games, I would then consider lightening my opinion of him. As it stands now, the guy can't stay healthy and can barely stay out of jail. Let him go to Toronto or Oakland or anywhere else but the northside of Chicago. Bradley has been charged with as many crimes as the pope. That story is overblown. If you're concerned about him being healthy that's one thing, but the guy has produced at a high level for the last several years when he's out there, and contrary to what some think he is not the devil incarnate. That story or those stories? One incident is one thing, repeated character flaws are another. Repeated character flaws? He did what about half of baseball players would've done, he reacted when someone threw a beer bottle at them. He and his wife also got into an altercation, where both parties were at fault. If it were some terrible thing, his wife would've pressed charges at one of her 3 opportunites, including when Milton wasn't there. An outside prosecutor also declined to press charges. Lugo had the same thing happen to him a couple years ago, but no one's avoiding him for character reasons. The entire thing is overblown.

  21. Okay, now I definitely know what UK's reaction is/was.
  22. This makes the Eyre signing look terrible in comparison. Some of us speculated Walker was necessary to get Romero. Color me disappointed.
