  1. And Kyle Hendricks should be lucky to be on the same mound as him for his maximum of 5 innings where he just tries to give his team a chance.
  2. I hate the whole, "he's young, he doesn't understand that he's supposed to be nervous" sentiment. Players are young, not stupid.
  3. 1 more inning until that elusive 5th inning for the NL ERA leader.
  4. Drilling the ball. Kershaw's lucky to still be in this game.
  5. I like our chances if the Dodgers only send up the minimum number of batters tonight.
  6. Good job FS1 not showing us the play.
  7. Call something else! Call something else! i gotta feel it Feel something else! Feel something else!
  8. Call something else! Call something else!
  9. Yeah, but he knows he's not going to go 7 innings, just trying to give the Cubs as many innings as he can.
  10. With Heyward continuing to be a turd and Soler not hitting, I wonder if Maddon is regretting not keeping Szczur on the roster. His 3-6, with 2 doubles and a HR (against Kershaw) would look really good in RF tonight.
  11. I imagined it would be Seal Boy, Unless they want to keep the extra pitcher (Z). I figured the plan was to bring Seal Boy back after they didn't need the extra lefty out of the pen. I would think it's more likely they bring Szczur to the active roster. Extra OF since Schwarber wouldn't be able to play the field and Szczur is right handed instead of LaStella or Coghlan, lefthanders. The reason why Szczur isn't on the roster now still wouldn't have changed. He and Almora are redundant, with Almora being better defensively.
  12. Oh boy! They're playing with my emotions.
  13. Definitely more excited than nervous, but I feel the nerves catching up. I can't think about anything else and IU crapping the bed so far in Evanston isn't helping to distract me. But I still have faith in the Cubs offense not getting shutdown again by Kershaw. And I probably have too much faith that Arrieta can come up with a big winner-take-all game, the way he did last year in the wildcard game vs. Pittsburgh. But I know I can't handle even getting to that point.
  14. We started spring 2004. I did post on Cubs.com before that as sanclementefan, though. definitely started in 2003. i was here for the lee/choi trade. and a bunch of you guys signup dates are spring 03. May 29, 2003 for me. I remember the 03 playoff conversation almost vividly.
  15. Rizzo's teeth are like the exact opposite of Lackey's.
  16. My story is most the same. He wasn't the biggest fan I knew, but he got me into the Cubs in the summer of 1984. He died in 1996, but was born in 1909 right before the Cubs began their last season as defending champions.
  17. Tons of crock pot meal ideas. There's beef stew, a hearty soup, chili, slow cooked beef or pork, sweet and sour meatballs, carnitas is a bomb ass idea, and you can pretty make any kind of slow cooked chicken dish in a crock pot and it all plays very well.
  18. He hadn't pitched since Sunday. Looking at 5 days between outings if the Cubs get him in Game 6.
