  1. Jimmy Graham blew that drive. Jumping early for a pass he didn't even need to jump for Sent from my moto e5 supra using Tapatalk
  2. Ouch for Ridley and Shelley healthy inactives while rookies Vildor and Mooney are active.
  3. Boston almost lost the series despite the fact that they should have actually lost none of those games.
  4. The Giants in desperate need to protect an aging Eli Manning skipped over Tunsil and picked Eli Apple instead. Bonkers. I'm convinced the Giants were going to take Leonard Floyd (was a popular pick in mocks) and the Bears screwed them by trading in front of them for him, and they panic picked Apple. Nevermind the fact that the Bears should have actually picked Tunsil as well.
  5. the Detroit Eagles? I dont know what you're talking about
  6. The injury report for this game is getting kind of interesting. I don't know if there's a bunch of gamesmanship going on but some major players missing or limited in practice the today and yesterday. Quinn and Montgomery's status appear to be up in the air, with Cohen essentially saying Montgomery will start; while Monty himself says he doesn't know yet. Quinn mysteriously missed time for personal reasons early in camp and was basically eased back the rest of camp, to now having an ankle injury. Mack was also on the injury report yesterday, but seems to be OK. For the Lions, their top WR, Golladay is dealing with a hamstring issue and was limited today. While their starting RT, Vaitai, did not practice. Vaitai isn't a great pass blocking tackle anyway, but if he can't go their looking at a rookie RG next to Tyrell Crosby, a guy that started the last 4 games at RT who they very actively replaced in free agency with Vaitai. Crosby did start against the Bears in the first game last year, and didn't allow any sacks, FWIW.
  7. I love the 100 year throwbacks. But I also love the 40s throwbacks, so I agree with this completely. I understand why they wear throwbacks at home, but I wish they didn't wear white at home ever. I think I said this last year but I'd go: Blue at home. Regular or 40s throwback White on the road. 100 year throwbacks 1-2 road games per year (if possible) White on white (jerseys and pants) in road indoor games
  8. Billy Donovan anyone? He and OKC agreed to part ways. I think he's an interesting coach and rumors are the Bulls may be interested.
  9. Detroit, always too dumb to play zone. No Darius Slay to take out Robinson this year. Granted, Slay has been largely unsuccessful at that, but I do wonder if they'll get away from that strategy without him.....and doesn't look like Okudah is going to be starting for them.
  10. The Bears start out with a "something's gotta give" type game. Despite their fanbase constantly clowning him, Trubisky has had most of his career success against the Lions. Three of his 7 career 300-yard passing games have come against the Lions. 23% of Mitch's TD passes have come against Detroit, including three straight 3 TD performances. However, the Bears have not won a season opener since 2013....the first year of the Marc Trestman era. This is one of the most important season openers in recent Bears history. An 0-1 start in what is supposed to be the "easy" part of the schedule, that comes as a result of struggling QB play would be a disaster and probably the start of a long season.
  11. That was an actual trade of a player under contract with another team. This was a free agent, that a team would sign with no intention of keeping him. That being said, I would have love to seen this move go through just to see the ripple effect. But I'm good with him being on the Titans.
  12. Amukamara was cut the other day, was he picked up yet? Prince is still a FA. But the Bears did sign DL Mario Edwards who was cut yesterday by NO. Former 2nd round pick, former teammate of Mack's in Oakland.
  13. Kevin Toliver is the surprise cut so far. Gotta think they'll be adding another CB in the next couple days Sent from my moto e5 supra using Tapatalk
  14. A lot of normally even-keeled Bears bloggers flipping out over the QB decision. It kinda cracks me up. All we've had to go on are beat writers who only saw half the practices and sparse highlights on who was "winning" the competition. The fact that it was reported that nobody had separated themselves and maybe Foles was slightly ahead by people who likely were rooting for Foles means very little. A bunch of people butthurt because the Bears chose the younger below average QB over the older below average QB. The trade for Foles isn't any more of an indictment against Pace than it was when he traded for him. Sure he's getting paid 8M sit on the bench, but the alternative was to sit 9.6Mil on the bench. And they paid half of that for Daniel to not even be a realistic option in the midst of a failing season. Today's results don't make the trade better or worse that it was in April. I also don't like the "short leash" stuff. If Mitch is benched after a half or 1 or 2 games, then it's an indictment on the entire coaching staff who very clearly made a terrible evaluation of its personnel which is a fireable offense. You made your bed, now lie in it. If whoever won the starting job needs to be benched at any point this season because of performance related issues, the season is probably already lost. The Titans are the exception, not the rule. And they still needed Tannehill to play at MVP level just to need help in Week 17 to get in. A performance related benching likely means multiple poor games, which means multiple losses. At that point, you're already behind the 8-ball because of those 2 losses. And Foles isn't likely to play at an MVP level long-term to overcome multiple losses either early or in the middle of the season.
  15. Interested to know why, I don’t have a huge opinion either way Hes more built for the power scheme, would be my guess. Before last year I would have just said the same, that he's a North South bruiser and nothing more... but then he went and caught 76 passes after combining for 58 his first 2 years. He didn't turn out huge yardage with them or set a career high in catch rate, but thats still an added dimension to his game, proving there might be more untapped potential. His ypc also had a nice uptick. Im interested. I think he's overrated but we can surely use him. Yeah, he's not a fit for what the Bears want to do IMO. He's Jordan Howard, but 2-3 steps faster, which is good, but the Bears want to move to a more outside zone base scheme which requires quick lateral movement to hit the hole. In addition, he's supposedly a bad locker room guy and I really don't want to take too much away from Montgomery, who will likely be ready by week 2 or 3 at the latest (week 1 still possible, as the Bears don't seem concerned enough to go get anyone). When you consider Cohen's going to get his touches and Patterson will get some gimmick stuff, i don't think there's enough carries there for someone used to getting 250+. Not that Montgomery is great or anything, but I don't think the Bears run enough to make Fournette worth the signing. If DM has to miss some time, can get away with 7-10 carries each from Cohen/Patterson for a game or two.
  16. Hate the Fournette idea.
  17. They won game 1. Yes, hence why this is Game 5 and not 4 mathematically speaking.
  18. This is probably the wrong angle to take of such a significant and unprecedented move by the Bucks......but interesting decisions to be made by OKC and the Lakers. If they boycott tonight, could risk Westbrook coming back for Houston and Lillard coming back for the Blazers, respectively. Probably won't matter much for the Lakers ultimately, but 2-2 for OKC/Houston a boycott tonight could really flip that series. FWIW, I think both teams would have to agree to a boycott because I think the Magic just got a game 5 win as the Bucks were given a forfeit.
  19. Definitely do NOT want Obi Toppin. If Ball, Edwards or Wiseman don't fall....give me Avdija or a PG.
  20. Not top heavy at all. No consensus top pick, could go several directions after the top 3 (ironically enough). But even could see one of the consensus top 3 dropping to the 6-8 range.
  21. Top 4!!!
  22. Regardless of the conditions thats way more than I thought they could get. They got a thing. I didn't think they'd get a thing.
  23. Just move it all to the spring and hope for the best. Hope people stop being stupid. Hope the election brings a leader(s) with an actual plan for stopping things. Hope for strides in a vaccine. All fall sports, all levels (football mainly for the sake of the thread). NFL pushed back too, so can accommodate by moving combine, draft, etc. Would be rough to end a football season in late spring and start a new one in late summer, but for college, can move the start back a month and cut out all the off time in December. Maybe even cut this and next season down to make scheduling easier and so kids can still have off for a finals week or whatever. And I understand athletic budgets and so forth, especially for small schools that count on the beatdown game for big money, but I find it hard to believe an athletic program can go under missing 1 season of football when they are charging 20-30K tuition a year.

    NFL Offseason

Mahomes got half a billi! Damn. So, if you're scoring at home, the Bears saved almost 500 million by drafting Trubisky!
  25. I don't follow the MLB draft, so today I just heard of Austin Hendrick and learned that he went to the neighboring school district. Pretty cool that a dude like 12 minutes away from me could go top 15.
