    Frustrating. Any replacements for him in the minors? I don’t believe so. It’ll be worse next year when the Cubs have to overpay him and he continues to do the same. Several. But nobody within a couple years of the majors. Now...you could look at Hoerner as a replacement.

    I think that's a bit aggressive. I don't think he'll get to Iowa this year unless he picks up at Tenn quite a bit over those six weeks.

    I keep it simple when someone asks me where I'm from: "the Chicago area" That seems both specific & vague enough. Only people from around here will care for any additional specifics. At which point I can tell them I grew up in Homewood, lived in Naperville for 10 years and currently live in BFE northwest of the city.

    A good friend of mine argued with me that we should have signed Jake to an extension instead of signing Yu back in the day. Then he lorded it over me for a solid year when Yu had his first year problems. I still wish we had Yu instead of Jake. I bet he's even vaccinated.

    I'm struggling to find much good news in those box scores. I guess Abbott was okay if you ignore the HRs. Nahas and Kobos. A couple of good NDFAs. After a quick fangraphs search, I found an interesting Kobos fact: There have been exactly two MiLB (or MLB) players with the last name of Kobos in history. They're both currently at A+. They were also born on the exact same day - 8/3/97. I'm guessing twins?

    lol You traded away your best starting pitcher last offseason to start the rebuild. Pick a lane. Letting past decisions influence your current ones is dumb. Since that decision was made, there is a lot of new information about finances, performance, etc.

    I don't care if they are good. They aren't winning the World Series good and if you aren't going to sign Baez or Bryant or Rizzo, trade them all with Kimbrel before July 1. There is good regular season baseball and there is good playoff baseball. Just like when the Cubs beat up on the Mets in 2015 and got hammered in the playoffs because the Mets have better starting pitching. lol
