  1. Turned the game on a few minutes ago...and turned it right back off. No need to waste time on that one tonight.
  2. If there is one thing I'm confident about this management group, it is their ability to stock a bullpen
  3. This may be the shortest elapsed time game of the year the way it's going so far.
  4. I suppose I should update from 3.1.7 one of these days. 3.3.4 is the current version. God knows how many I've skipped over the past, I don't know, 10 years or so.
  5. Very nice to trade Kimbrel away and then call up Rodriguez to throw 100 mph darts to get saves.
  6. Cool - they're going to give Manny the save opportunity.
  7. I think ultimately he won't be able to be a first division 1B with his lack of power. I do think he's going to be our favorite bat off the bench though (e.g. La Stella back in the day). I'm guessing the only reason he's still down is that they're trying to get him more time in the OF.
  8. Rivas in game two so far: BB, BB, BB, 2B (scoring two)
  9. Steele went five, struck out eight, walked two and gave up one run. It's really time to get Arrieta out of the rotation
  10. All I want is a roster packed with guys that walk, hit for contact, hit dongs, and play great defense. I don't feel that's too much to ask.
  11. They have him at 23, which seems like a huge miss.
  12. I'm assuming that Rodon & Gausman are going to get paid. I put Gray in the middle tier, though he's probably right at the top of that tier. Teams may surprise me and give him a big deal, but I don't think he's going to get paid like the top tier guys of recent years.
  13. Perhaps it is a good thing he chose football... Stealing first base?
  14. I guess that answers my question
  15. -- post edited in obvious way My feel for what salaries should be vs what they are is so out of whack. How does this guy earn $9M a year? He seems no better than a complete end of the bench guy. Arch had slightly better stats than Caruso last year. (not sure what I saw earlier, but I definitely misread it. Caruso is somewhat similar in efficiency, but significantly higher use) What am I missing?
  16. Maybe I'm crazy, but I'd rather not trade White. He's only two years out of college and is still pretty damn young. He's blocked from starting at the 1 & 2 spots now, but I think he'd be a great spark off the bench. Now, if he could bring back a really solid young wing, then go for it. I just don't know if that's possible.
  17. With the other commitments, I think $130k would have been the highest we could go (iirc).
  18. Yeah I don't think either gets anywhere close to $200M. Honestly though there's a lot of that with this FA class. I think as of right now I'd only expect Carlos Correa to top that amount, but there might be like a dozen $100M deals. Yeah, when I was working on my plan I saw a lot of good to really good players, but no great ones. Even Correa's been too up and down for me to be super comfortable giving him that $200M deal, though I'm guessing someone will do it.
  19. If you want to talk certainty... We don't even know for sure if there's going to be baseball next spring. This negotiation is going to be really acrimonious.
  20. Mark Grace wore #17 for 13 years and had well over 2,000 hits with the Cubs. Obviously Kris Bryant had a much higher peak, but there is something to be said for the consistency and length of contributions from Grace. I think they lay equal claim to the number in Cubs history. Bryant was the best player on the team that won the series. Case closed
  21. Going to be tough to tank at least one day of every five as long as Hendricks is pitching.
