  1. Bote is perfectly fine at the money he makes
  2. Significant improvement from infinity
  3. :flythew:
  4. lol @ myself here. I've obviously been paying no attention. The guys from the IL are back. Strop, Wieck & Steele are all back down.
  5. I take it back, I forgot Wieck came up, too. We've already used 13 relievers this year. Who would be #14 if we cut Miller?
  6. I mean, he's the 10th-12th reliever, right? We started with nine, three went on the IL. Who would we bring up if we cut Miller today?
  7. Bryant at better than an 8 win pace now.
  8. It would be funny if this is finally the game we hit 20
  9. Bote has really been snakebit this year. He's got a .136 babip even though he has a ridiculously low 9.1% soft hit rate. His biggest issue has been a 60.9% ground ball rate, but many more of those should be getting through for singles.
  10. I think the Brewers really pissed off Contreras
  11. I'm starting to feel like I need to look outside of Chicago sports for fulfillment.
  12. Sogard is not in any way our best MIF right now
  13. They're just meh at this point. They're going to have games like this where they can't overcome a couple of mistakes even against a bad team. Of course, Detroit is a bad team that has been playing really well lately, too. They'd recently beaten Carolina twice and Tampa They were meh for much of the season. But they only won ~5 games in March and are 4-6 in their last 10. They're losing to bottom dwellers. I think they suck. For some reason they just don't match up well with Nashville. And they clearly aren't as good as Tampa/Carolina/Florida. Since that was the bulk of their schedule in March, they sucked through that part of their schedule. But yeah, they need progress from the young guys (some of whom also seem to be hitting a wall at this point)

  15. Mooney has a ridiculous article on the Athletic today. He spends the entire article talking about trading Kimbrel, while taking up every third paragraph with the caveat that it is way too early to be talking about the subject. He compares the return the Cubs might be able to get with Gleyber, but then talks about how different the environment is today. Fundamentally, he had a deadline and churned out a completely nothing article that contradicted itself at every turn. Can they just pay Sharma twice as much to write all the Cubs articles?
  16. I assume Bryant is hung over?
  17. Kimbrel not as sharp after not working for a while
  18. The ump looked like stevie wonder in that last ab
  19. That's a nice trade for Janmark
  20. Yeah we have him next year as well. I imagine with so may walk year guys, they won't really shop guys controlled beyond this year except for Kimbrel. But Brothers, Trevor Williams, and Contreras are all only under contract through next season so they'd likely be available at least theoretically. Kimbrel is in his walk year too. (He might have an option.) Vesting option for him, but he'll definitely be traded if we're out of it at the deadline and he's still mowing people down
  21. Not in his walk year. True but there would be heavy interest if he proves to be a versatile multi-inning high-velo LHP. He should be shopped.Someone has to pitch in the pen next year, too. Heck, if he's really *this* fixed, make him the closer after trading Kimbrel and then you have the option of getting extra value for him if you trade him later.
  22. It's really possible. I think if nothing else, the Cubs have 10 (!) guys in their walk year that depending on performance could be attractive trade chips. KB Rizzo Baez Joc Kimbrel (club option) Davies Arrieta Chafin Workman Tepera If the team is out of it, you probably want to clear the deck a bit in June or early July so you're not juggling ~5 trades the week before the deadline. Brothers has a nearly 8:1 KBB, could be interestingNot in his walk year.
