  1. wow, switch his name to Captain Overreaction.
  2. its all about the conspiracy. hoping the Sox become overconfident and forget about the Yanks. then the Boss springs the trap and wham! more misery in Beantown. After almost 100 years in the rivalry, have to add spice somehow. hehehe
  3. Thats a great point. i had forgotten about that.
  4. maybe true....if jones goes to the DL, wood comes off of it, they would probably dfa Rusch or Ohman, and call back a bat. Or they could send down Guzman, dfa someone else, and then bring up Sing. Isnt Sing the one who is getting married Sunday in Iowa? That would sure mess up those plans.
  5. not bad. a tweaked/pulled groin muscle. should keep him out of the lineup for a few days. it is why dusty pulled him out of the game the other nite. They may have to DL him to get som e help up, especially cause we are carrying 12 pitchers. He did it the other nite, the nite the anti-dusty crowd was screaming for his head when he put Hairston in right after Jacque was a triple short of the cycle. It was a "bad" managerial move according to them. Looks pretty smart to me.
  6. ESPN is reporting that the surgery was successful on his wrist this morning. He will be out the rest of the year, but is expected to make a full recovery once it has healed. Matsui
  7. yes. Same knock as always, not enough power for a corner OF. Murton and Jones are bad enough at power, dont need to add someone else who will hit less than 10 a year. And i talked to someone else who had an idea as to what the Cubs will do tonight. After Wood gets through at CS, they will probably activate him, place Jones on the DL, send another pitcher down and call someone up. Wont be Restovich, so could be anyones guess.
  8. Hot dogs have so much more worth than a simple monetary value. I must be getting really really old and i always swore i would never do this Back in the magical time of the late 60s and early 70s, hot dogs were considered a luxury item to many people. It is was a very different time and we didnt have a lot. We didnt have computers or other high fangled technology devices, some of us didnt even have color tv sets. You simply fought for what you could get. Not like now, when these young kids dont appreciate all that they have.
  9. If they in fact do have to put Jones on the shelf for a pulled groin, how far away is Angel from being able to come back? I dont want to have to call Restovich back up if at all possible. Pie needs to stay in the minors until Sept. Dont really have a lot of other options unless they were to bring up Micah from AA. And please lets not start another Jones flame thread. And something else that came to mind, we dont have enough roster slots on the DL? What would we do? Move Lee to the 60 from now (no retroactive). Prior and Wood definitely cant be moved. Pagan should be back soon. Miller is already on 60.
  10. I think Sanders from KC and either Soriano or Guillen will be headed to NY very soon.
  11. And now for something completely different... GEAUX CUBBIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  12. Going to have surgery Friday and they are going to insert metal rods/plate. Gone for year and may be career threatening at his age. I sure hated to see a great guy like Matsui get hurt that bad. He means a lot of things to a bunch of different people and he gives 110% everyday despite playing in over 500 consecutive games. 2-3 months for DLee isnt looking so bad now. Guess we see how good Cashman is as a GM and how bad George wants this next one. No way the Yanks can compete with an OF of M. Cabrera, Williams, and Damon- especially with Sheffield on the shelf for a while too.
  13. First of all your topic headline is really unkewl and needs to be changed. While you may not like Dusty, there is no reason to cheer for his death. That is way way way over the top. Second, Dusty isnt going to be fired this season. Two reasons: #1- his contract is up at the end of the year. #2- If Hendry brought someone else in to manage, they would get the same result, which would be the end of the Hendry Administration. Hendry not being dumb, wont let that happen.
  14. Griffey has been officially activated. Griffey Denorfia back to AAA despite hitting .500 in 8 games. Eric Milton will start the Hall of Fame Game against the Pirates Monday, then will go back to AAA for 1 rehab start, before rejoining the Reds. Paul Wilson has been halted from further rehab on his shoulder and may be headed to the 60 day DL with further problems. Cody Ross is swinging the bat well in Louisy on his rehab and should be back to the Show next week.
  15. Would like to welcome the Astros to the group. They have now lost 6 in a row. They even managed to score 6 useless runs after falling down early 9-0. Good work guys, tease the fans just enough and then pull the chair out from under them. How the mighty Central has fallen this past week, 'cept those 2 commie teams: the Reds and the Redbirds.
  16. Saw the notes for the Mets-Phils game. Mr. Gonzalez is back in the NL and going to start Saturday for the Mets. He is going to take over the slot in the rotation behind Lima-time so i hope he can eat some innings. Meanwhile in Philly, Cole Hamels is coming up from AAA to face the Reds. One of the top ranked pitching prospects in all of baseball and the #1 prospect for the Phiting Phils, he has 65 K in 43.2 IP in the Minors and is 3-1 with a 1.04 ERA. Wow. Also owns most of the Club Minor League Records for Ks in ballgames. He is 6"3', left handed, and throws low 90s. I love rotoworld's comments worth a shot in shallow rotisserie leagues, but wont stay healthy for the entire year....Mr Wood your table is now served.
  17. In the immortal words of and since I quoted Dante in last night's pre-game thread: There is no greater sorrow Than to be mindful of the happy time In misery.
  18. the aura of steve phillips decreases IQ points by an exponential factor of 3 for every second you are around him.
  19. small ball did win tonight. Cedeno S, stole 2b, and sac to 3rd for the first run.
  20. Mr ARam is no longer hitting his weight. He is regressing to the Mendoza line mean.
  21. Your wife is a call girl? How liberated of you. hehehehe
  22. mr 080 just got a hit? Merry #@$% Christmas everyone.
  23. Now 3rd on team in RBIs- one behind Murton.
