  1. i find it funny the amount of people in this thread that have stepped in ye olde wooden bucket (ie foot in mouth disease).
  2. wow, we manufacture a run and the fans are still upset.
  3. What is Bobby Cox's record this year btw? Hint: 14-18, look familiar?
  4. I am reminded in thinking of tonight's game of these words: All hope abandon, ye who enter here- Dante, 1308
  5. That would be John McKay, head coach of the 1976 Tampa Bay Buccaneers. I believe the starting QB that year was none other than Mr. Spurrier.
  6. Nevin gets hurt way too much. People with injury histories that come to Chicago somehow spend lots of time on the DL.
  7. we need to get Barry Bond's armorer for DLee, but we will have to keep him away from his doctor and training staff.
  8. As i suspected all along, there is something going on. I had heard that DLee had called Juan after his visit to the doctor in Chicago and told him that he had to lead the club until he gets back. They are apparently very good friends in real life as well. So Juan has been pressing trying to do all he can. Nice to see this comment from Dusty this afternoon. Baker
  9. Oh, as I remarked last nite get ready for the Neifi and Jerry show in the MIF tonight. Both have hit Schmidt well in their careers and with the injury to Cedeno, i see Dusty not wanting to risk further damage there.
  10. This traveshamockery will be on WGN tonight. So you can watch the Titanic go down firsthand.
  11. And thank god for it....that 2004 team embarrassed me to be part of Cub fandom- the only time i can recall that in 30+ years of following the Cubbies. You also left off many salient points. Garciaparra only played 30 games for the Cubs that year. Our starting SS was a platoon of Martinez/Perez/Macias- depending on who was hurt. Sosa only played in 126 games. TWalk platooned with Grudz and only started 129. Players who hit more than .300 and played 130: ARam at .318 Players who hit 40 HRs: Zero Players with .900 OPS: ARam and Alou Players who had more than 100 RBIs: ARam 103 and Alou 106 Players with .350 OBP and more than 130 games played: Lee ARam and Alou Not much has changed in 2 years.
  12. Just looked at the stats on Schmidt for tomorrow. Our middle IF tomorrow nite will be Perez and Hairston. Strangely, Maddux is the best hitter against Schmidt lifetime with more than 5 ABs at .375. Think he can handle the hot corner tomorrow?
  13. 1. Yes they will win the West this year. They have been winning even though their best player and 1b has been hurt for half of the season with intestinal swelling brought on by a virus/bacterium. Their pitching staff has really come around, and they have an amazing road record...so its more than Coors. 2. No, it is the equalizer.
  14. Back to back singles in the Top of the 5th helped the Rockies score 2 more. Through 5, Jeff Francis has it on auto-pilot-- 5-0. Should be Marquis' last inning here in the 6th.
  15. Holliday goes deep for the Rocks....3-0 in the 3rd.
  16. Wow was reading something on YahooSports and didnt believe them, so i looked up for myself. Cub RBI leaders and last RBI 1. Barrett April 21st 2. Murton May 1st 3. Walker April 28th 4. Ramirez May 7th (also had one on may 6th...previously was April 26th) 5. Jones May 7th (previously April 28th) 6. Lee April 16th That is a drought.
  17. Still 2 zippo Rocks heading to bottom of 2. Marquis is wild as hades, 3 BBs and 2 HBP so far in just 2 innings.
  18. maybe a trade? only thing i can think of....
  19. The Rocks pick up 2 in the first on Marquis in Busch. Still threatening. Marquis has now hit 2 batters in the inninng.
  20. This made me think of the Great Warren Zevon....Send Lawyers, Drugs, and Money.
  21. The Jets problem is different than the Mets problem. Financing is always the toughest hurdle (just ask the Marlins) and with the property already ready, the Stadium is a go. The Jets were having property/development issues and financing issues. (I posted the link to the stadium so others could see it. Trying to bring back Ebbets). And to say that Minaya has no bearing on the stadium deal is silly. He as GM is in charge of the vision of the team for the foreseeable future. How easy would it be for them to get a stadium deal if they were going to finish last every year? Not too easy. As Mike Lupica is fond of saying, the fact that they are talking about 2 baseball teams in NY these days is a minor miracle by itself. Minaya is the man that made that possible.
  22. New Stadium and it passed last week. Passed
