    But that is exactly when it would hurt the investment firm the most. The large upfront payout ( $2.5 B ) means it's the next media rights deal when they get the ROI. Not having Michigan in that deal hurts them. Hence the reason they've said it's a no go if all 18 Big 10 teams don't say yes. Look at Notre Dame, their current media deal is paying them about $ 50 Million a year. Plus the $ 17 Million they get for that BS arrangement with the ACC. That's roughly the same as the top tier Big 10 teams. They get to make themselves an easy path to the CFP with how they schedule. For example, look at this year. They played 3 real games this year ( Miami, Texas A&M and USC ) and lost 2 of them ( Miami and A&M ) only beating USC. Currently they are ( unjustifiably ) sitting pretty in terms of getting in the playoff. Michigan could easily do the same and just make a similar BS type agreement with say the Big 12 for 5 games. It would give them an easier path to the CFP and would help keep the brand high up the list of desired media deals.

    Wouldn't leaving before then be monumentally stupid? Currently they get around $ 50 Million a year from the Big 10. That number is not fixed and may go higher. Also, since their media rights are tied up for a decade they can't just sign a Notre Dame type deal and make it back.

    If both Notre Dame and Miami end up winning the rest of their games then Miami should be ahead of ND. I don't think there's any way both get in unless there's is more then expected craziness in the last few weeks of the season.

    #18 seems about right. Who below them screams out to you? The ACC** & BIG 12** are trash and the teams in the group of 5 don't have anyone to make the case for. ** Miami, Texas Tech etc are already ranked ahead of them.

    I believe he is referencing the fact that currently Detroit holds the tie breaker due to the Bears week 2 loss. Of course that will work itself out week 18 when the Bears beat the Lions. However it won't matter anyway since obviously Chicago will be 14-3 then. 🤥

    HEY ... HEY ... HEY ... you two need to sit down and be quiet!!! Stop trying to burst my Indiana fandom bubble with truth, facts and logic. But on a seriously note, long term I think this is better for college football. The thinning of the schedules along with the transfer portal and NIL plus the expanded playoff give all the power four teams a legit pathway to the postseason. For the most part teams like Ohio St, Alabama, Georgia, etc. will still get their fair share of top talent but they won't be able to hog all of it.

However, assuming that doesn't happen I wouldn't mind seeing Indianapolis win this year. Last year Barkley leaves the Giants and wins a SB. This year Jones leaves the Giants and wins a SB?

    1500 is only about 88 yards per game. If Monangai has started from game 1 he would most likely be well on his way to hitting that also. This only highlights how much more important other factors matter versus the individual talent gap between runners.

    I've always disliked Notre Dame. I hope for them to lose most of the time. I have enjoyed when they've been crushed in the various playoff formats over the years. However Kelly seemed like a complete jerk. Both when he left and throughout. Meanwhile Freeman always seemed like a good guy. So it has been refreshing to see Freeman do well while at the same time Kelly seemingly took the keys to a Ferrari and proceeded to hit multiple telephone poles every few miles.

    Per the ESPN article this raises his buyout to $15 M. Would have been $10 M on DEC 1. Hopefully that keeps Penn St. away considering they still owe Franklin around ( $40 M ? ) but as mentioned above if both really want to ...

    As long as a team signs the player to the 53 man roster they can sign any teams practice squad player. The player can decline. Also if it is an upcoming opponent then it must be done six days or more before the game.
