I think the committee got the final result correct, Alabama and Miami over Notre Dame and BYU. It's somewhat debatable, but that's how I viewed it. The thing everyone can agree on is the week by week process to get there was crap.
Instead of releasing a ranking every week they should just release four categories.
Cat 1: The four byes.
Cat 2: At large teams.
Cat 3: Teams on the bubble.
Cat 4: Teams on the outside.
Cat's 2-4 wouldn't have to be a set number of teams. For example some weeks maybe only 2-3 teams were viewed as being at large ( Cat 2 ) quality and everyone else was 3 or below.
This would eliminate the stupid #9 having lost to #13 early and then having to watch the committee gerrymander the rankings the last few weeks in order to get the correct decision and put Miami ahead of Notre Dame. Plus the other stupid story lines that happened this year.
A few examples from this year.
Notre Dame would have started the year Cat 3 and just never moved.
Miami would have started unlisted and climbed 0-4-3.
Teams like ... Texas A&M 1-2, Alabama 1-2-3, BYU 2-3, Texas Tech 2-1, Georgia 2-1, Texas 3-4, Oklahoma 4-3-2, Utah, Virginia, Louisville 4-0 etc.
