  1. So are you saying he was topping out at 95-96, or that the gun had him at 88-89? 95-96. Damn, I hope that's true.

  3. Anyway, never meant to start a hockey debate in the game thread by bringing up Kane and Toews. I'd much rather concentrate on how awesome Anthony Rizzo is (which was the discussion to begin with). I share the big time mancrush. Given how well he has hit this year, what are you guys expecting from him at his peak? I think it's safe to say we are well beyond the Adam LaRoche talk of last year, right?
  4. To me it came off as him saying hockey is a trashy sport, and my point was that given the fans have the highest average income it might be hard to make that case. ETA: Doesn't mean that's what he meant by it, just saying that's how I took it (probably wrong of me), and the income response was meant to counter that, nothing else. I love all 4 of the NBA, NHL, NFL, and MLB, and hockey is not my favorite of that group. Had no intention of trying to say hockey was better than any other sport, because I don't even believe that.
  5. NHL fans have the highest average income among fans of the big 4 sports, by a good amount. Ok? Contradicting him saying they "live with the rats." Nothing wrong with not being a hockey fan, just think it's silly to put down people that are, especially with false generalizations.

  7. You only think so? I guess you're right. He has easily passed Cutler and Rose in my man crush rankings. Just think Noah needed a mention here. No love for Kane and Toews?
  8. Over Kane, fine. But not Toews. Not even Kane. It's a joke that he's above either.
  9. I will be disappointed if we don't get Appel. Gray would be a great addition to the farm, but I am really hoping Appel falls to us. I just see him as the better and safer player. I'm not adding anything profound here, just feeling out how many others would also be as disappointed as I would be to not get Appel.
  10. I don't think he's much more than an average-ish, cost controlled, 2nd division starter for the next 2-3 years. There's nothing wrong with him being that either. He's not an elite player and never will be, but he still has value.
  11. I wasn't talking about whether it you trade your core or not. It just doesn't really mean anything. It's just some imaginary line where a certain amount of projection and years of control puts you into a different group. Lol, it's just a loosely defined term, not really worth getting worked up about. Idc what you call it. ETA: The way I think of core, "long term assets" may be a more fitting term.
  12. At this point, I think it makes more sense to add to the core with players who are well under 30. ETA: At least on the path that Theo has decided on.
  13. Like Davell said, being part of the core doesn't make you untouchable, you are just a major part of the teams success and should either cost a ton to acquire or be someone of value to your team as a player or trade chip.
  14. Pretty much this. Having players past 30 is okay, but I'd much rather then not be part of the core group. I don't care if someone 30+ is part of the core as long as you don't give up what is potentially core players to get him. FA signing, fine. Reclamation guy that develops into a core player. Or homegrown. Yeah, that's more what I meant to say. I don't want to give up valuable assets, other than cash, for players in their 30s. I was also talking about right now, not necessarily in the future once we are already competitive.

  16. I don't think Headley would be the best use of the assets it would require to get him.
  17. Nate is one of the best backup point guards in the NBA.
  18. Not a big deal, but a pet peeve of mine when people write a 1.098 OPS as .1098. Unless you are making fun of neely, which is very possible, and if that is the case then carry on. Wow, transpose a decimal point one time and it never goes away. I guess if you can't argue the point, then bring up typing skills. There is nothing to argue with you. You are barely coherent and when I brought up wOBA your response was about OBP, then when you are corrected you still didn't respond to what I said about his wOBA. I'll consider responding when you say something worthy of a response.

  20. wOBA up to .388 now.
  21. The Rizzo trade is so unbelievably good. I love that man.
  22. Really want to do a Vegeta meme about this, but I won't. Please do.
  23. Totally could see this happening. Why do I let myself think this could happen.
