  1. Were you as blatantly anti-Wood and anti-Prior back in 2003 as you are now? I'm not really anti-Wood. I'm not a fan of the contract though. I started getting frustrated with them in 2004. After 2005, I realized they probably were never going to recapture their 2003 form, at least not together. I think it's best for the Cubs to move on from them. I was big fans of both and cut them a lot of slack, but after 2005, enough is enough. I'm tired of them attaching season after season to their health and performance only to watch them fail miserably. I hardly think the age of 25 or 26 is the time to give up on a guy with the upside of Prior. I think that's foolish and short-sighted. Woody is murkier, but even 28 is not that old. If you think about several of the "greats", they never put it together until the age of 28. Woody finally had the surgery he needed to have, his elbow and shoulder are now "fixed". I think the cubs owe it to themselves to not pull the trigger too quickly. Thank you, Dr. Andrews. If Wood stays healthy all season, you can bring up this post and mock me. To say he's "fixed" is short sighted. I don't need to mock you. If Wood stays healthy all season then I presume we'll both be happy, even though our team will still suck. I was more referring to prior at age 26. Giving up on him would be short sighted. Especially since we have his rights through 2009 I believe.

  4. Is he still a gutless choking dog? I need to know what verbage to use to describe him.
  5. Indeed. And, furthermore, you sprain a ligament and strain a muscle. Either a strain or a sprain involves tearing of the muscle or ligament involved. Sprain your ankle? You likely have a tear, perhaps even a complete one, in your anterior talofibular ligament. And in six weeks, you'll be running. How long does it take to recover from a shoulder strain/tear? several months, judging by the date on that article Well, Hamels is also injury prone and young, and he just went on the DL with a shoulder strain, so let's see how long he takes. Miller and Wood both had shoulder surgery and could beat Prior back. We'll just have to keep watching and see what happens. Um, last time I checked, Wood has pitched 3 games and already HAS beaten Prior back.
  6. grass? who's got grass? I need some to deal with this debacle of a team.

  8. There is. it's called the other owners. Right, I meant someone who didn't have a vested interest in its own money making. Owners making decisions based on how they think a new owner will affect their bottom line is skewed reasoning to my mind Surely there are other billionaire owners, right? Or did you mean they wouldn't want him as an owner because he's already well known as a competitor and "winner"? I'm sure it has something to do with the fact that Cuban wants to win as badly as the players do (and more badly than some) and alot of owners simply care about the bottom line, a hell of a lot more than winning.
  9. Well as he said last weekend and today, the soreness is normal. All SP get sore the day after they pitch. As long as he bounces back quickly it's all good. If they have an extra day off to give them then they should.
  10. I think if Wood has shown us anything, it's to wait before panicking about velocity. He's slowly getting his back, and Prior will too. I'd rather he throw free easy and not timid, than worry about his velocity right now.
  11. I wonder if he was holding back, acting like it was a towel throwing drill instead of to live batters... I'm sure he was a little tentative and holding back. Give him some time. Like woody, he'll come around.
  12. I want to know where the people claiming he is damaged goods and that his career is over are, because he was throwing 90-94 the first two games. He game out today getting up to 96, and that velocity will only get better with more games and innings. I just wish people wouldn't be so knee jerk around here but that's like wishing for Dusty to become a good manager.
  13. The Cubs finally didn't blow a game for Wood!! Woo hoo!!
  14. Nomar's up to a 1.05 OPS with 34 RBI. I much prefer Neifi.
  15. 2 Scenarios: 1) Woody gives up 4 jacks and a bunch of walks and makes it 3 innings. 2) Bullpen blows the 35th game of Wood's career. CubbieRich stands upon soap box announcing that an 0-1 kerry wood can't even win one game in his first 3 (despite 2 being blown) so he's worthless.
  16. Too Bad the Cubs won't hire you. I just want this to be a non-family cite so I can lay out a diatribe that would make Elia shudder.
  17. I remember people screaming so loud it would wake up a deaf person about not allowing Dusty to platoon Murton this year (before it started). And it was WIDESPREAD.
  18. I gave you kudos in my 2nd post in this thread Bruce  And in pretty much every thread you are discussed. (This thread was more directed at the Trib/Sun-Times) I always viewed those articles(your articles) as your opinion on the state of the team and did not realize that you have asked them about it. I had never seen a "Q and A" by you, but I guess they only give that to Trib stooges. Now I hope that EVERY sports writer asks about it, until they can't take it anymore. The fact that you ask about OBP, and they just blatantly ignore it, needs to get out, at almost a grassroots level and gain momentum so that the clammoring for a new philosophy can't be ignored.
  19. I'll be his therapist for only 3% of his salary.
  20. yeah, thank goodness for that! dubois' OPS w/ the cubs: .761 murton's OPS this year: .712 Come on dude, you and I both know Murton is going to be an all around MUCH better player than Dubois. Dubois is AAAA. That's it. Murton is a much better hitter with a much better eye, with a little less power that will develop in time.
  21. I can't remember the name off the top of my head, but they had a baby boy sometime in the weeks after the convention. They named him Sportin. I heard it the name was Mornin.
  22. I hope enough people submit OBP/Players who can catch and run questions.
