Marquis starts, weather hot, wind blowing out, Cubs lose, guaranteed. I'm not even going to let myself get upset by this loss since that would be the equivalent of slamming a car door on your hand and then being surprised by the amount of pain that resulted from it.

Well I agree that he shouldn't be used as often and I don't even mind sensible complaining, it just got ridiculous, but whatever it's a game thread, I should realize that and just not post in them. That's my own fault. But he's not our best reliever. #34 might have something to say about that. :wink:

Marmol has been used 3 days in a row 5 times, and he's been used in 3 out of 4 days 9 times. I guess I just don't think that's all that much for your 2nd best reliever. How many high pitch high stress outings has he had? We can't just use outings when it's convenient to use outings. It's high stress high pitch outings that should be MORE concerning right? How often in general, do the best relievers on their teams get used 3 days in a row and 4 out of 5? Is this normal. I don't have that data and I'd be curious to see it. I realize your point in that I don't remember what Lieber and Wuertz look like, and I don't think you've ever been ridiculous in portraying your views on this subject. I feel you are one of the most objective posters on this board and I appreciate that.

Without taking into account the fact he had 9 pitches on Sunday and 10 pitches on Tuesday. My irritation wasn't with the disagreement with the move, I myself disagreed with it. It was with the ridiculous overall reaction to the move, IMHO. The insinuation and the direct indictment of Lou being no better than Dusty is and was absurd, regardless of what you thought should have happened. He's RARELY used Marmol more than 2 days in a row, and NEVER used him the day after a using him 2 innings. I agree he's showing fatigue and probably shouldn't be used as often as he has been though.

Judging from last night's game thread, one would have thought we still had Baker on this team. I hope stuff like this conservative approach puts that hyperbolic crap to rest, but it's doubtful. Why badger? Because it irritates me, and I'm on a message board forum that I'm allowed to express my irritation as long as I don't personally attack anyone?

Because it's a personal thing for me and that shouldn't determine what's good for the board. The Z thread was different because it was started by a Card troll and Budhouse felt that Wood would break down or not be able to be a good closer, which he has been wrong so far, and imo that's different. BudHouse exhibits pretty trollish behavior himself. Does he ever even post besides when Wood blows a save? (To his "credit," I don't think he made an appearance Saturday) I think a mod posted in here earlier that he's banned...

Any of us who have to rely on EI to watch out of market games. What is that an abbreviation for? Extra Innings. At the risk of being really really [expletive], why wouldn't you just watch the game on Fox? Isn't there no other game up against it so won't it be televised nationally?
