  1. I need a laugh tonight. Please explain to me how Kerry Wood's stuff is not that great EVEN when he is healthy. Please, I need some baseball acumen that is better than mine because Whenever he's been healthy (1998, 2001-2003) His stuff has been downright dominating in every aspect of the word. And CubbieRich I don't care if Wood only wins 10 games if he: Starts 25-25 Pitches 190 innings or more Has a sub 3.4 ERA Has a sub .210 BAA Has a 10+ K/IP ratio Has at least a 2.5/1 K/BB ratio In fact I don't care if he WINS 0 games since it's a FREAKIN TEAM STAT THAT PITCHERS SHOULDNT BE JUDGED ON (as long as he does the above).
  2. It's a new position. "Dusty and Neifi's Bitch".
  3. The more I think about Rusch and Neifi the more angry I get. I want ram a fork into my own eyes. This is really the most idiotic and moronic organization that I've EVER seen. WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY? There are SO MANY BETTER options. I hope I run into Hendry on the street one day. I'd like to give him a piece of my mind. I wish I wasn't a fan, I really, truly do.
  4. Man what I would do if I was one on one with JH. Sleeping on this has only made it worse.
  5. Sorry XZero77, I made this thread so that people realized it was a done deal before I saw yours and now I'll leave it so it isn't lost in the other thread. Mods, merge it with the old one if need be, I don't care, I want to shoot someone. http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/cubs/cs-051107cubs,1,1170609.story?coll=cs-home-headlines
  6. Or his 2001 season where he pitched nearly 200 innings with a 12-6 record that should have been more like 16-4 with any run support. Or his 2002 season where he pitched over 200 innings and should have been a 15 game winner with any run support. Or his 2003 season where he pitched over 200 innings and should have been a 15 game winner with any run support. Or the 2003 NLDS where he owned Atlanta. As for the 2003 NLCS, Dusty riding him the whole year (as he did prior) two of the highest pc/game may have had an effect on the burnout - but he certainly didn't pitch his best there i'll give you that. OR the fact that he has some of the filthiest stuff in the majors. But I guess we can go on saying he worthless other than 20 K's in 1998. It makes more sense. Blah, blah, blah blah blah. Kerry Wood has DONE nothing in the majors but tantalize baseball with his enormious gift. But like Todd Van Poppel, Brien Taylor, Adam Johnson, etc....Kerry is a million dollar arm, .10 cent brain. I don't know how to nicely say this, but what you're saying is completely and unequivically incorrect. Wood has done plenty, his problem has been staying healthy. That problem has nothing to do with some mental deficiency(million dollar arm, 10 cent head is one of my most hated cliches), and there's really no evidence to support Wood being a "stupid" pitcher. And there is no evidence to support Wood being a smart pitcher, either. Besides, I didn't mean to imply that KW was a stupid pitcher, I meant that "legandary" "light goes off" won't ever apply to KW. I love the ability KW has shown, but I am tired of waiting for his consistancy. Add in the fact that Z has find consistancy at a younger age then Kerry, is disturbing for Wood. And if KW doesn't win atleast 15 games or more in 2006, then it's time to say good-bye, to maybe the most overrated Cubs prospect since Jerome Walton. That's alot pressure, I know, but that is how I see it. [begin rant] I can't take it. I just can't take it. How many pitchers have found consistency as quick as Z. How many with injuries have? What were Nolan Ryan's and Randy Johnson's careers like through the age of 27? See your rationale they should have been gone.  Oh and I really can't take it anymore: Wins are the most baseless stats by which to judge a starting pitcher because they are team influenced. Yes that was written with emphasis so people stop saying, so and so only won 10 games so they suck. It really is the dumbest thing to base a pitcher's stuff/season on.. i.e. look at Clemens this year. I have NO idea why people continue to use wins as THE stat by which to judge if a pitcher had a good/bad year. ERA BAA WHIP K/9 HR/9 BB/9 K/BB and even innings pitched are all MORE indicative factors of how good a pitcher is. NOT WINS. [/end rant]

  8. And so would I. But the point is, that this thread is filled with fans freakin' out before anything like that as happened. There was no mention of money in the article. There was no mention of giving him a starting job. And Rosenthal's article doesn't exist in a vacuum. There are lots of other articles that are talking about Cedeno being penciled in the starting line-up somewhere, especially if Walker is traded. So why ignore all the other evidence just to attack Hendry in this thread? You are all welcome to write whatever you want. I'm not saying don't do it. I'm just asking why? What is the reasoning because I don't understand how 6 pages of complaints and attacks could be justified over something that hasn't happened, and, if you read other articles, probably won't happen. It seems like people are eager to trash the team they love without really having a reason. But that doesn't make any sense either. So they must have a good reason, and I'm just trying to understand what that is. If you can't understand the paranoia of the fanbase in creating a 6 page thread on what might happen but isn't close to being confirmed, just look at the Cubs of 05 and where and how dustbin used Neifi. The attacks and complaints are coming from the mere subconcious thoughts of havning neifi and Dustbin on the same roster. Sure people could wait, but the mere mention of the name neifi apart from anything even baseball or "perez" related makes me push a panic button after last year. How is it so difficult for you to understand?
  9. there you go with your 'me against the world' stuff again... anyway, your argument was that chemistry is important to winning. for some reason, you cited to past ws winners and said that they had good chemistry. thus, chemistry is important in winning. your 'argument' is unbeatable because all anyone can say is 'the white sox didn't have good chemistry' or 'they didn't win because they had good chemistry' and you'll say 'prove it'...which, obviously, is impossible to do. of course, this ignores the fact that you can't prove that they did have good chemistry or that this is why they won. thus, your argument is beyond weak. in fact, i hesitate to call it an argument. Basically the word you are looking for is falsifiability. Cubfan's claims of the importance of chemistry are NOT falsifiable, therefore have no scientific or empirical base to them. The number one rule of any scientific or mathematic posit is falsifiability - that is the claim CAN be proven false in some manner of science. Hence gravity is a falsifiable scientific phenomenon because the attempt to prove it false, can be made, but would fail scientifically. Make sense? 8)
  10. I'm surpised I'm the first to comment/question on this but: IIRC, didn't Walker have a face-to-face with Hendry and requested that if they were going to trade him, to just not pick up the option out of a gesture for him - considering he took well below market value to stay with the Cubs? Hendry seems like the type of man to honor that committment/request. Especially with someone who talks as much as Walker. IT could very well affect other free agents coming to Chicago. I could totally be wrong and on crack, but I thought this request/discussion took place between JH and T-Walk.
  11. Trade Wood threads make Badger a sad sad person. :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :(
  12. SLG isn't everything, despite what this site preaches.
  13. Keep in mind that I really want no one else at first as long as Aram is throwing there. His defense alone is underrated. Sure he wont match last year, but the amount of errors he's saved singlehandedly would HAVE to be replaced if we trade him. Just remember who's throwing to him.
  14. Vizquel got it by name as Jack Wilson was more deserving. Wilson had Vizquel by high margins in Range Factor and Zone Rating. He also was involved in a whopping FORTY-FIVE more double plays than Vizquel. My ballot at SS would have been: 1. Jack 2. Neifi 3. Vizquel I would have given it to Khalil Greene. That guy is a human vacuum cleaner whenever anyone hits a ball between 2nd and 3rd. He made quite a few errors this year, if I remember correctly.
  15. I really hate Trade Wood threads. That's all, carry on.
  16. I'm telling ya, we need Bruce to create news and write a story about how great Giles would be in Wrigley. Maybe then Hendry will read it and act.

  18. Good thing you're personal friends with Prior, Z and the rest of the staff. Thanks for the laugh, I needed it to help my depression.
  19. UPDATE: So now I feel worse, because I had to make the obligatory congratulatory phone calls to all my White Sox fans. Someone torture me more. I need it.
  20. You wouldn't mind? I'd embrace it fully. Any guy that could emphasize control with this organization I would welcome with bells on. His stats with respect to BB's are awesome. And that's a huge problem with our pitchers.
  21. Don't forget about the Brewers. They very well may be a WC team next year, though that might be one year too early. With Lee, Brady Clark, Overbay, Hall, Hart, Hardy, Weeks, Fielder Sheets, Davis, Capuano, Turnbow, Wise They are young, and will be good for awhile.
  22. For the record you ARE the only one bringing up Farnsworth. Vance merely labeled Lidge a gutless choking dog. Which, by the criteria put forward, applies to Lidge this post-season.
  23. Yea, a day passing, only makes it more frustrating and depressing. If you knew the number of brand new Sox crap that is up here in Madison, WI, it would make you puke. The part that sucks, is I have zero faith in Dusty, and no faith in having things fall our way. Oh well, sorry to bring northsidebaseball down with this thread.
  24. I just have this feeling that we've ruined our window of opportunity, and we aren't going to have a chance for many, many more years. Pessimism is flowing through me. I just don't think we are "next". :( :( Talk me off the ledge!
