If what this guy says is true, then blame could squarely fall on Dusty's lap for overworking him in 2003 during his rookie year when he wasn't used to that type of work. AND if that's true, I hope something very bad happens to Dusty Baker's career.

If you're gonna try something fancy to get the last out with a potential risk for a HR, at least its only one run. that or they were trying out a hit and run (didn't watch it), or Dusty wanted to see Jacques ability to take bases. It's spring training. Lee ran alot in front of aramis last year, it's not like he's not used to it. If it works, no one says anything.

I don't really have a strong feeling for him, one way or the other. I think it's interesting that not ONE critic of Pierre commented on these numbers.

I love Mark Prior, but is he a total wuss? Isn't this the third time he's gone to see a specialist about "pain" and the tests have come back negative? Hopefully they can get him on some strength training program to build up that muscle so these ailments don't bother him so much.

Lopez 5th or 6th best? Only ones better last year were Rollins and possibly Furcal (Lopez was better than Furcal in my fantasy league last year). Only other close was Reyes, because of SBs. I agree with Zimmerman and Jackson though. But, like I said, Tracy should be eligible at 1B in your league, and will become at 3B because that's where he'll be this year. I'd probably start out with Klesko in the OF (or U, with Murton in OF), and look for OFs in free agency. I actually drafted Tracy because he was at 3B and then my little tally showed zero 3B so Picked up Zimmerman. My starting pitching is awful, but them's the apples. I'm glad all of you don't think this is the worst team ever assembled. :lol: NL-only gets very thin.

I think you're misunderstanding what I mean by born into, and what I mean by choice. I'm BORN into being Indian, I'm not born into being Hindu. My parents were Hindu, and took me to the temple, and I might have followed that as a kid, but when I was in college I made conscious decisions about what I wanted to be. I had CHOICE.

You never looked at the religion at some point in your life and said "yes, this is what I want to follow"? You just followed it blindly? You never made a conscious choice regarding your faith?

You must live in a very specialized area of the country because most people are of the religion that their parents were. So I'm not very wrong but very right. This really even isn't a matter of opinion but a matter of facts. They may be influenced to be so, but the "choice is not made for them". Religious actualization is a very complicated process. Sure your parents can make you go to church when you are young, but when you hit young adulthood most people face the decision of consciously choosing their path of faith to follow. The choice is not MADE FOR THEM. So actually I'm very right. Many people say my parents "blah blah" but i am "blah blah" and that doesn't happen until young adulthood, but it is VERY MUCH a choice.

Wood: NTC According to Cot's Contracts, the NTC is only for '04-'06 and does not include the option for '07. Well they're just going to not pick up his option then. We aren't gonna get anything for Wood. Unless he has a GREAT year and we pick up his 07 option for 13 million. And then, people still probably won't give much up for him, and if he has a great year, I'd want him back in a Cubs uni, because when he's healthy (01-03) he's a #1 pitcher.

I think Wood's history of misuse began well before the Cubs even drafted him, but that's no excuse to keep doing it. There's no question that one usage pattern can affect Pitcher A one way and Pitcher B another. But I think the safest thing to do is err on the side of caution. Protect the pitchers you are counting on to be a key part of the team for many years. There's no doubt about it but there's plenty of blame to go around. The biggest difference between Guillen's staff and Baker's (outside of health) is in-game longevity. Guys like Burhele can pitch an entire game while using only 100 pitches where Cubs pitchers reach that plateau in the 5th or 6th inning. (which is common with power pitchers). I blame the pitching coach, and the pitchers themselves, for not being more economical. I think the team's pitching philosophy is also different because the starters don't typically pitch for contact which is another reason why they run up their pitch counts early. As far as Baker leaving the starters in the game too long is concerned, there's no arguing this point because it is true. It's also true that the pitchers have to do a better job of getting into the late innings consistently. You blame the power pitchers for not changing the style that made them 1st round draft picks with major skills? Interesting.

No, I don't. He doesn't want to leave chicago, he certainly wouldn't want to go to a hitters haven, regardless if he's from Texas. Why on EARTH you'd trade Prior who we have until 2008 is beyond me anyway - but no one would take either of em. We wouldn't get squat for either.

I didn't realized NSBB was the reason for all the injuries last year. If Zambrano & Lee get injured, this site should be removed from the internet. ;) .......Lee is already injured. It's nothing major right?? This is the Cubs, only major injuries happen to our key players. If it was Neifi or Macias last year it would have been the equivalent of hangnail, but I'm guessing Lee's shoulder is about to fall off.
