  1. I would rate them in this order OPS OBP SLG AVG but it depends on the position. SLG is probably more important out of your power positions, OBP for everyone.
  2. I'm not too surprised about Wood's progress. I don't like the sound of this: They just haven't set a timeframe since it's too early to tell. Being out indefinitely doesn't mean much. It means he's out for awhile. It shouldn't be sugarcoated. Being out indefinitely is about as general as one can get. It doesn't differentiate between being a month away and being four months away. All it means is that they have yet to determine when they expect him to be activated from the DL. It says nothing about health or progress, just that it's too soon to tell when he should be back if all goes as they plan. There's no sugarcoating. It's just the quickest way of saying what we already knew. You said it didn't mean much. If you mean that the actual timeline is not set then yes, you are right. It DOES however mean the situation is not good. It doesn't mean much in terms of any developing news. He was out indefinitely once they shut him down. Him being out is certainly not good, but if anything, the situation has improved since the tests were done because of the diagnosis and him throwing long toss. The way his current status was stated isn't any cause for concern in and of itself. I still can't believe you listen to the way Cubs describe his current status and actually believe it. When he starts throwing to batters again, I won't feel concerned about his status.
  3. I heard they met at Cactus, a south Loop watering hole near the options exchange, and that the future Mrs Wood was working as a waitress there ... no idea if this is actually true or not, just what I heard from a friend who works around there. Like a real life "It could happen to you" (I thinks that the Bridget Fonda movie about a waitress meeting a guy who won the lottery) eh?

  6. I know they are good good friends and hang out when he's in Zona, so I wouldn't doubt it.
  7. If we're gonna hate, can't we direct the hate toward Neifi?
  8. It's almost as if certain nameless people in here actively WANT Pagan to be a crappy player.
  9. Has Pierre been a slow runner or a bad runner so far this spring? He's only stolen 1 base and has been thrown out a bunch stealing/running
  10. Who? [expletive] = Rusch.
  11. It makes me want him to be healthy from now out, so he can remain a lifelong Cub as he should be. off topic: hey badger..you living in Uptown now? we should get together for a game sometime. I live near Lake Nokomis I'll send you a PM! Back to more Wood fluffing....
  12. I just get the impression, from the way the Cubs talk about Williams they have issues with his motivation. I'm not judging the guy in that way. I don't pretend to be able to get inside a player's head. I'm just saying that based on how the Cubs treat certain players, it seems like they might question his motivation to be the best starter he can be. They never questioned Rusch's spot in the rotation, even though he's been just as bad. They have questioned Williams for quite some time now, and they keep openly challening him in the media to step up and take the job. They don't do that with others. They didn't tell Cedeno to step up and earn the job, I think they believe he's going all out. The Cubs held him down in the minors last year to lose weight, their first impression of him was a guy who wasn't 100% motivated. I think that sticks in their head and affects their evaluation of him. Why do you think they are so enamored with [expletive] then? he's just as much of a fatty a Williams was lat year.

  14. Plus his wife is gorgeous (IMO) http://chicago.cubs.mlb.com/images/2005/11/18/IQJ5ax5b.jpg Just a feel good story. Say what you want about his injuries, the guy is ALL class. Rest of Story
  15. All that warm Arizona air, and the scantily clad women, must be really rough eh Bruce?
  16. It seems like Angel Pagan has run over a couple people's dogs and stole their girlfriends/wives.
  17. Who should the Cubs have gotten for Right Field? And If someone says Brian Giles I'm gonna go on a murderous rampage ala postal worker style. So OTHER than Giles, who should we have gotten for RF?
  18. Rusch's last two starts were very good and good. I'm not a Rusch fan, necessarily but maybe he's coming around?
  19. Offensive Juggernaut we are over the past 4 or 5 games.
