  1. That would make sense, considering all reports said he only wanted a 3 year deal, but then why sign him to a 4 year deal at all? Strange.
  2. Minor league deal: http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/playerbreakingnews.asp?sport=MLB&id=2364&line=227671&spln=1
  3. Pshh, your boy? He's from Mizzou baby, he's more my boy than yours. ;)
  4. I don't think we're going to get Roberts at this point. Which is fine, as DeRosa should be playing everyday anyways. If we were able to make a move that involved Pie for Greene, I wouldn't mind taking a flyer on Kenny Lofton for a year. He can roam CF and leadoff for us. He's pretty much a guarantee to have a .350+ OBP and steal 20 bases.
  5. Lidge isn't on the Astros anymore, but yeah, the number of overpaid relievers in this division is ridiculous
  6. I think they need a RH bat. Assuming Murton is dealt or somehow starting with Fukudome in center, they will have no RH bat on the bench. Blanco will be there, but he's not a bat. If Cedeno or Theriot is the backup, that's not a legit bat. Ward at least provides one legit bench bat from the left. If Murton is gone, they won't have any RH bat. I agree with this. If DeRosa remains as our 2B, I wouldn't mind if the team took a look at Tony Clark or something off the bench. He's a switch hitter, and can still hit the long ball. Or someone like Brad Wilkerson or something. Someone who has got some pop left in their bat and wouldn't mind being relegated to a PH role.
  7. Pads reportedly offered us Greene for Pie in May (I think) last year, but we turned it down. I don't know if it's been mentioned again that the Cubs are going to pursue Greene or if it's all speculation at this point.
  8. 1...2...3... Not it!
  9. This is a dumb question, but I've never really bought a customized jersey shirt off of MLB.com before. The lettering on the back is red with white outline, right? I got one for Christmas last year from Wrigleyville Sports I think it was, and the name/number were just white (like the customization preview on mlb.com is). Just wanted to make sure before I asked for my Kosuke jersey shirt for Christmas.
  10. I like Pie in CF and Fuku in RF, unless Pie is resting, then Fuku CF and Murton RF. And there's no way we get anything close to useful for Dempster/Marquis.
  11. Both of these things are going to happen, so I vote that option.
  12. I just found out that Fukudome and I share the same birthday. We're basically brothers.
  13. I like Prior, but if he doesn't want to be here, what can you do. I have no problem with this. Good luck Mark, hope you tear it up for an AL team.
  14. Here's a cool Fukudome highlight video (not rickroll i swear)
  15. I remember the curtain call. I've never seen a player more reluctant to take one in my life.
  16. I think it would've been pretty awesome if the link to the updated member guidelines was actually a link to rickroll
  17. Yikes - If I learned anything in Intro To Journalism (actually taught by someone who is a sportswriter for the daily herald) it's that things like this are mortal sins and make your paper look dumb. So Sullivan was either too lazy to get a quote or Hendry blew him off (or he actually couldnt get ahold of Jim, but that's less fun, haha)
  18. Is there still the possibility that this could happen? Realistically, no. But, I don't think that line up was ever realistic anyway, because if Hendry got Furcal, he probably wouldn't have broken the bank with Soriano. You are missing the pitchers spot in that lineup. Wasn't a lineup, just position-by-position
  19. http://www.suntimes.com/sports/baseball/cubs/692279,cubsign121107.article That link said it's believed to be $45-$50M. I'm still expecting $50M, but if it ended up being only $45M I think NSBB would implode.
