  1. Alright guys, I'm sure this has been asked many times before, but I was having a debate with my buddy today. Someone mentioned that if there was a Cardinals vs. White Sox World Series, who would Cubs fans root for? He says the White Sox. He claims that because we have a longer history with the Cardinals and are in the same division, he couldn't root for them. I however, said the White Sox. While I agree that it's hard to root for the Cardinals since they are in the division, I just couldn't ever see myself rooting for the White Sox. To me, the whole White Sox organization and their fans just disrespect the game, while the Cardinals organization is very respectable in my opinion, and the fans are as well. Just wanted to see what you guys say. If the Cardinals played the White Sox in the World Series and you had to root for one of them, who would you root for? And don't say "neither" because if that was an option, we'd all take it.
  2. Man, I was watching that game. I was thinking "When did you hire Greg Robinson as your defensive coordinator?" Was the fumble that became a TD legit? I couldn't believe they didn't overturn that. And that was a pathetic defensive performance. Smith was above average. He overthrew every ball of more than 10 yards, but had two ridiculous TD runs. I think on one of them he shook a lineman that had both arms around him. But since we couldn't stop a pass to #18, it was all for naught. That sucks that we lost. It really pisses me off. But... we gotta put that one aside and focus on next week. Troy embarressed us - badly - last year, and now they're coming to MU. I see us beating the living crap out of them next week. Should be a great game to attend. Definitely. It was a tough loss, but hopefully the defense is better than what they showed last night. The Big 12 North is still there for us to take. One thing though...you don't realize how amazing Brad Smith is until you see him live and in person.
  3. Losing Tate didn't help, but I'm not sure if it would have changed the outcome. We had 3 first half turnovers already when he went out, but were only trailing 9-0 midway through the 2nd. We came out flat/tight, and they came out ready to win their Super Bowl. Manson threw a big INT which was returned for a touchdown with only a few minutes left in the half. After that he didn't play all that badly and suffered through some very poor protection and a lot of drops. Basically the story of the game was our 5 turnovers. That's almost always impossible to overcome, but especially on the road against a team who always plays their best game of the year against us. The OSU/Texas game was a very good one. OSU's defense (Hawk in particular) looked great. Young played a real solid game. They limited him on the ground after a big first drive, but he looked better with his arm than I expected. Ohio State's offense wasn't very impressive though. I didn't see much of the Georgia game at all, but Arizona State/LSU was a very good game. What's the word on Tate, btw?
  4. Just got back from the Mizzou-New Mexico game... That may...may...may have been the worst defensive performance I have ever witnessed, by any team, at any level, ever.
  5. Time to leave for the Mizzou/New Mexico game. Woooooooooooooooooo.
  6. Wooooooo. Tate's down. That sucks.
  7. And he boots the PAT attempt off the upright. 6-0
  8. I dunno about you, but when its 4th and 15, down by 7, under two minutes to go, my outlet valve is somewhere near the first down marker.
  9. A 5 yard pass on 4th and 15? What's with all the dumb play calls today?
  10. Tulsa scores but fails at the 2 pt attempt... still over 8 minutes to go. OU up 17-15
  11. Michigan fans throwing stuff on the field. Classy.
  12. And Michigan chokes inside the red zone again.
  13. It seems as if I spoke too soon...
  14. Golden Hurricane takes the lead!
  15. Nevermind, this Michigan offense sucks.
  16. Michigan's defense just had a huge set of downs and that crowd of 111,000 is back in it, if the offense can move the ball and at least get a field goal, look out. Also, Tulsa's defense is dominating Oklahoma.
  17. That was the dumbest thing I've ever seen.
  18. And they have the screen stopped 2 yards short....until the Marshall guy tackles him from behind and pushes him across the first down marker...
  19. Hopefully Marshall pulls this one out, and a Tulsa upset over Boomer Sooner would just make my day, haha. These big games (ie. ND/Michigan, FSU/Miami) are hard to pick someone to root for. They really are the lesser of two evils.
  20. All I know is, after watching Nomar hit this past month, I see no reason why we shouldn't bring him back with a heavy incentive deal. As long as Cedeno is the backup of course.
  21. Wouldn't Julio Franco belong in that group as well? No. .287/ 9 hr/ 41 rbi/ .350 obp/ .480 slg/ .830 ops in 202 ABs. He can still play.
  22. Corey just doesnt seem like he has a grasp of the game of baseball. I mean look at how he approaches the plate. He's been playing baseball his whole life, is a few months in winter ball actually going to change how he approaches each at bat?
  23. I read that too. He said something about how he wasn't wearing earplugs. This guy lies about everything! *Points finger at reporter* "I have never used earplugs. Period."
  24. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2147225 Does this guy have nothing better to do? Like try and win games so the charging Indians don't end up winning the AL Central?
  25. I could never mention Sammy and Ryne in the same breath. One was a self-centered phony, the other one was all class and professionalism. The Sammy dig in Sandbergs' speech made me respect him that much more. I'm not comparing the two in terms of class, I'm comparing them both in terms of how exciting they were to watch and how much they loved the game. No matter how you view Sammy, his love for baseball was awesome from about 1997-2002.
