  1. Prognostication... or prevarication ??? Carolina 20 BEARS 17 Minnesota 20 Green Bay 30 Detroit 17 Dallas 24
  2. The question now is, how completely can the Viqueens self-destruct ?
  3. No need to worry about the Viqueens. We'll see them again soon enough.
  4. That interception should buy Mike Brown a reprieve for that roughing the passer call last series.
  5. That would be good Funny, because to a normal fan that would mean not corey not not pie. When is a Cubs fan considered "normal?" I've been accused of a lot of things in my time..... being "normal" was never one of them.
  6. Unfortunately, sometimes that light you see is just an oncoming train. i disagree Fred and am wlling to stay on the tracks for Corey (or the train). I just hope he's a Cub when he round the bend. Scott, I'm not sure what you are disagreeing with, since I made no prediction with respect to Corey's future success. In fact, what I was really saying is that it's just too early to make such a prediction. The one prediction that I do feel confident in making is that whatever future success Corey does have will not come in a CUBS uniform. I'm afraid that the handwriting on the wall in unmistakeable.

  8. Well.... we all have our crosses to bear, young fellow.
  9. Your Dad is quite right. Jack Quinlan and Lou Boudreau were the best. To this very day, I continue to mute the TV and turn on the radio, which is a habit I learned in the 50's.
  10. He's not a CF though. Fantastic head of hair though, FWIW. Fantastic hair is highly overrated !
  11. If Corey truly needs tim off to clear his head of CUBS fans booing him... he will never be back. I doubt he's back regardless, unless it's as a reserve player. You're probably right. I meant back more in the sense of returning to his 2003 form, or, more generally, attaining his potential.

  13. Agreed. To those of us who were around in '69, the Mets are a whole lot worse than just annoying. In fact, many of us watch the reruns of the movie "Fail Safe", just to see NY get nuked !!!

  15. Oh, I don't know.... it all sounds relative to me.
  16. I fear that your Sosa jersey won't have high value again unless Sosa does.
  17. Yeah, it happened on Fri 01 July in a 3-2 win in San Diego. I remember it cause I was at the CUBS game that day. I checked the paper and some websites and couldn't find a word about it. That did surprise me a little, as I can remember some hoopla when the CUBS won their 8,000th game back in the early part of the '82 season. I remember the big deal about the Cubs 8000th win also. I vaguely recall a dispute with the Giants over who reached it first. Do you recall any details about it? I too, vaguely remember some flack over the issue, but I don't remember any details. My bias rejected the argument out of hand at the time, so it was much easier to forget. In checking the records, I see that the Giants had already won their 8,000th game during the '81 season, so it would seem like a moot point now. 1876 thru 1981 World Series team W L pct PA W L Chicago Cubs 7987 7324 0.522 10 2 8 San Francisco Giants 8060 6705 0.546 16 5 10

  22. But only if they ate a large portion of his contract. I don't see why they would need to eat a "large" portion, or any portion for that matter. He has 3 years at 10 million a year left. That isn't burdensome by any means. He can play RF, LF, or CF so he gives us the option at looking at multiple ways to build the team. I think it is more likely the Dodgers will look to deal Bradley, but if the cost in players wasn't prohibitive, I'd take on Drew and the entire contract. FYI, it's 4 years at 11 million per left. I'd love Drew or Bradley. What's an extra million between friends? A million dollars here, a million dollars there, pretty soon, you're talking about real money. Hon. Everett Dirksen
