  1. I'm not sure how they're going to punish him, since releasing him and eating the money is exactly what Stewart wants to happen.
  2. Is there video of all four homers anywhere? All I could find last night was the last one.
  3. Thank you for making me happy we didn't pick him. You guys are weird I don't see why. That said, welcome to like 90% of athletes on Twitter. Oh, you see plenty of "Thank God" and "I'm so blessed" stuff, sure. Token Christianity, mostly. Not a lot of people memorizing and utilizing long quotes from scripture. If he's a bit of a bible-thumper, I can see that not going over well in a locker room full of guys many/most of whom party hard and/or cheat on their wives pretty frequently. Yeah, actually quoting scripture is definitely a notch or two above the standard "I'd like to thank god first..." stuff. You can take the usual with a grain of salt, but having a truly dedicated bible thumper around could be really annoying, even to those who aren't as liberal as others. And all other things being equal, I'd prefer the guy who isn't going to proselytize and pontificate during every interview/sound byte.
  4. HR was saying that Moneyball no longer applied because the A's were drafting high school kids. "Moneyball" was all about drafting college kids. Jonathan Mayo tried to explain to him that the concepts in Moneyball were all about finding value where others weren't looking, but HR wasn't buying it. I give Mayo credit for biting his tongue and not getting visibly frustrated. That instance and when Amsinger was acting incredulous when Mayo told him you couldn't look at W/L when evaluating draftee were nice examples of acting smug while being completely wrong. The draft wasn't a shining moment for MLB Network.
  5. It wasn't just Reynolds, and it wasn't just the comps. Every black player interviewed was asked if they had talked to black former players/coaches, or other black draftees/prospects. And yes, every black player was comped only to other black players. The racism and Reynolds being a comprehensive dumbass were the takeaways from the broadcast for me.
  6. Named after Sandberg but raised a Cards fan, from Arkansas...I'm pretty shocked it didn't happen. It seemed like some kind of twisted destiny.
  7. The Span comp made no sense. The whole night has been a clinic in latent racism, so why not keep the theme going?
  8. Yeah, he gets the honesty award. No interest in the classroom whatsoever and didn't make any bones about it. I wonder if his academics were so bad he wasn't even entertaining the possibility.
  9. I'm with Rob, if the between pick filler is going to primarily be Harold Reynolds waxing moronic, they should just pare down the time to two minutes or so. At this rate the first night will be as insufferable as that of the NFL draft.
  10. I hope he signs quickly. I hate it when position prospects waste several months of development time. Is Boras his agent? Yes. Different regimes, but I don't recall the Cubs having much difficulty with Boras clients in the past. Am I wrong in this?
  11. For me the draft is the only thing. Barely care about the NBA, don't care at all about the NHL.
  12. Same with me, but if the Astros take him, I'd take Bryant over Gray. I just hope Houston takes the cheap route.
  13. Well duh, that's right in your backyard. We're getting Reds/Pirates in south central wisconsin - what the [expletive] hell?!? I'd rather see your game if we aren't going to see the Cubs. Yankees/Sox in New Mexico. How's that for making sense?
  14. The only thing better than beating the Sox is kicking their [expletive] teeth in. Loving this series.
  15. Clearly you haven't watched enough Sox broadcasts. The White Sox have never been beaten, the only lose when they give games away. They're quite charitable like that.
  16. http://bustedcoverage.com/2013/05/22/dave-winfield-scouting-report-this-boy-is-colored/ Yikes.
  17. more like a whole lotta of nobody gives a [expletive] It's like he thinks we all sit around thinking about A&M all the time. Just for clarification, we don't. Nobody who isn't affiliated with A&M does. The only time I give that school a nanosecond of thought is when Old Style is in here being psycho.
  18. I received an offer of Anthony Rizzo and Tony Cingrani for Shelby Miller and Jason Heyward. The guy knows I'm a huge Cubs/Rizzo fan and is trying to ply that against me, but I'm not so sure it would be a bad trade, particularly if Heyward turns in a 2011 as opposed to his 2012, which I see developing. I feel like this could be selling high on Miller, but I'm admittedly biased here. Thoughts?
  19. I also, for reasons I'm not even sure of, despise Eli Manning.
  20. It wasn't for me, I was rooting for New England. Not because I care for the Patriots at all, but I developed a strong disdain for 1972 Dolphins. And NY sports can rot for all I care.
