  1. I'm on the bandwagon as long as they suck. If they win a World Series I'm outta here. Calling Cubs fans bandwagoners may be the single stupidest thing I have ever heard. Don't short Dusty like that. He has a wide portfolio to choose from... I know, but I really think it may be dumbest thing I have ever heard. If the Cubs ever win the series and someone calls me a bandwagoner, I think I would beat them to death.

  3. The same reason they wanted Huff last year? Solid if unspectacular hitter with some pop (.275/.329/.458/.786 - BA/OBP/SLG/OPS - 16 HRs, 49 RBI) and wide versatility in the field with the ability to play all 3 bases and the corner outfield spots. Likely it was more to deal Wheeler than to gain Wigginton, but he's not a bad return. They wanted Huff to aid in a playoff run. There will be no manner of playoff run for Houston this year.
  4. Good. Murton is worth more than Ty, much more. Why would Tampa want Dan Wheeler? Are they in the playoff chase? The opposite is true too. Why does Houston want Wigginton? That was my first reaction. This makes little sense from either angle.
  5. McClung is a high velocity/no control reliever/spot starter. He is a guy who throws hard, but somehow managed a .87 k/bb so far this season. His career k/bb is 1.14, his career era is 6.23 (6.29 this season), has a gb/fb ratio of less than 1, and gives up a lot of home runs, in addition to a lot of walks (.6 BB per IP). He also has a career WHIP of 1.68 (1.83 this season). And despite his tendency to light up the radar gun, he doesn't really strike guys out (6.31 K/0 career, 5.17 this season). He's bad. Real bad.
  6. Yes he is. Hopefully his arm doesn't fall off.
  7. The mascot of the Cubs pitching staff: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v365/XZero77/bioNibbler.jpg
  8. Don't you know that the Cubs staff is populated by nibbling nibblers?
  9. Doesn't Junior own Eyre? Or is it vice versa?
  10. Someone needs to pull a Nancy Kerrigan on him.
  11. It was just Weathers' multiple chin action that threw Lee off.
  12. Go beat his ass. i don't really want to go to jail because if i went over there...well...i don't even want to think about it Just call the cops yourself. yeah, i have never been in this situation before...she is at her mom's house now..so...she is ok i guess he is just sitting at the house punching holes in the wall or something i really don't know what to do, but i have been telling her to leave him for a while now...however, she doesn't know if she can afford it (she has a one year old child with this cobstick) and her family thus far has not been behind her decision to leave him...hopefully things will change now and she will get some support... i don't like this feeling You should really just call the cops anonymously. Bad things happen when people don't act in these situations.
  13. Has anyone else made any big moves yet? Teams are still leveraging. Not that I have faith in Hendry, but I don't expect to see big stuff start going down for another day or two. Do you get punished for being the first? These games we are blowing mean a lot as much as the ones in late september. No you don't get punished for being first, but you might have to drastically overpay. The teams that have what other teams want are going to wait till the eleventh hour for the best offer. Aside from Jedi mind tricks (which I am certain Hendry does not know), I fail to see how he can speed the process up without overpaying. I think the Reds are ready to start moving guys. Afterall the have to rush up Jay Bruce and not appreciate him like they did Dunn and Kearns. I am not confident that Krivsky has the brains to unload Griffey and Dunn. Clearly he should, but I don't know if he will. I would move Griffey, but hold on to Dunn and stick him at 1B. Joey Votto is not going to hit like Dunn. Moving Griffey is an absolute no-brainer. Unfortunately so is Krivsky.

  16. Even if we don't make a move, we won't be below .500 the rest of the year. We may not make the playoffs, but we won't be that bad. Keep in mind the recent run was accomplished without much input from Lee and Soriano. Theriot and Fontenot won't carry the team for the rest of the season, but I refuse to believe that Derrek and Alonso will continue to play as they have over the past month.

  18. We could be the Reds. Or the Astros. Or the Pirates. Or the Cardinals. Reds = WS Champ in 1990 Astros = NL Champ in 2005 Pirates = WS Champ in 1979 Cardinals = WS Champ in 2006 They are heading the same places as us, but at least they have those accomplishments to look back on during their travels to nowheresville I know you are perennially pessimistic, but to say the Reds and Pirates are going the same place as the Cubs is patently absurd.
