  1. I'm seen worse. Someone was selling t-shirts with a slant-eyed Cubs face (think the Cub that used to be on the sleeve) with the caption "Hory Cow!" And I'm sure they didn't see anything wrong with it, either. At my job there is a was a british customer, and the barista talked to him the whole time in a terrible british accent, and was confused when he got offended and walked out. She really had no idea. People are ignorant. I don't think the headbands are that bad. I wasn't talking about the headbands. I have also seen a lot of stuff in the stands that is Chinese. People seem to lump all east asians together. It's actually quite embarassing.

  3. Awful. I'll just second (third?) what UMF said. At least I like the decision in the thread title. To tell the truth, if they were going to keep Cedeno and another IF, I would rather it had been Cintron. I have zero confidence in Fontenot to be worth anything. At least Cintron can play 3 IF positions well while he's not hitting. But leaving Murton off? Wow. I can only hope he is getting traded.

  5. Something tells me he's going to do more than spell Felix against tough lefties. If Felix does poorly. I just think Hendry and Lou anticipate him failing. Unfortunately, that probably means they'll pull the plug on him too early.
  6. Sure, that bench can hit a little. But it has 1 backup infielder, and there's no way they start the season that way. I still see something else going down before too long. I think Murton and possibly Marquis are headed out. We know at least 3 of those 5 aren't going anywhere, and there has to be another backup IF. That doesn't leave too many options.
  7. To be fair, kid was 23 in '06. Not a long list of ballplayers that play well in the majors at 23. Longer list of players that don't play well in the majors at 23 but turn out to be average or better players. Hey, I'm all for starting Cedeno over Theriot. I wasn't saying Cedeno isn't going to be any good, just that he did in fact get a shot, albeit at a young age. I'm not confident Ronny will be that good, but I am confident he would be better than Theriot given the chance.
  8. While Felix Pie has really crushed the ball in the major leagues, right? So I guess it's safe to assume he'll be horrible, too? As I said in another post, when the Chicago Cubs start playing the Omaha Royals - let me know. Cedeno raked in the minor leagues - why isn't he starting in front of Theriot? His minor league stats suggest he should... your post makes my brain hurt The arrogance by many on this board makes mine hurt. Pie and Cedeno have better minor league numbers - therefore it will just automatically translate to success at the major league despite what their past performances have shown us. I know so because numbers support my claim - despite what the actual play on the field suggests. Pay no attention to that.... Arrogance? There was nothing about your post that made sense. Pie and Cedeno have put up really, really good numbers in the minor leagues, and Pie was usually very young for his level. Ryan Theriot never put up really, really good numbers and was often very old for his level. Ryan Theriot has done nothing in the major leagues to have an everyday job handed to him, while guys like Pie and Cedeno have proven, based on their minor league numbers, that they deserve a shot. To be fair, Cedeno had a pretty good shot in 2006. But unless he gets shipped of to Baltimore, I think you'll see him again when Theriot continues to play the way he did for most of last season - badly. Ryan just isn't that talented and was exposed. I don't see that changing. Pie is a different story. They just need to give him the job and let him try and hold it for most of the year.
  9. Yeah, that's pretty dumb. But I still think Marquis gets traded.
  10. His value is probably higher right now than it will be at any later point. He has had a great spring, had a great first half last year, and there are a lot of teams out there who need a starter to at least start the season, due to injuries. The further things go along, the lower his trade value is going to get, IMO.
  11. Here's a story from ESPN.com about being cautious about picking young cincy players in fantasy ball because of Dusty. LINK
  12. Yeah, I don't see Z being all that great by the end of his contract.
  13. yet another reason I would never make out with you dammit
  14. I can see Weeks and Hall, but you really think Hart s that good? I thought he had a heck of a year last year and might struggle to do that again. He did have a .913 and .951 OPS his last two years in AAA, .929 OPS in A+, .937 OPS in rookie ball. Not like last year came out of nowhere. I don't know if I'd put him down for an improvement but i don't think it was a fluke either. I think he's good for a .900 OPS, but not 1.000 again.
  15. hellz yeah! why do you hate america? because it keeps making mustard and onions haven't been outlawed yet You're demented. If I could pick only two things to put on my hot dogs, burgers etc. for the rest of my life, they would be mustard and onions.
  16. I have watched it several times on ESPNews, but more to see the Indiana players react to the shot than the shot itself. Yeah, I am still bitter.
  17. I'm pretty sure the Reds may have as much talent as the 2003 Cubs. Not all loaded into the front end of the rotation like the 2003 Cubs, but more overall, and certainly as far as young offensive players go. But you are right about the Reds being maybe the worst possible fit. Dusty likes to abuse the pitchers, and that is where the Cubs' talent was. But Dusty will do everything in his power to plug vets into the lineup. Bruce, Votto and company have an uphill battle.
  18. Illinois is really taking a crap right now, but that is nothing new.
