  1. You should have looked closer. You actually had switched over to the Bears/Packers game, LOL.
  2. You aren't. But I'm done talking about Bartman today.
  3. It's pretty amazing because when you look at his numbers over the years, it really did look like 2006 was just a career year. But -- they say he really did make some changes in his approach, and it really worked for him. I guess in this case it was right. Glad to have DeRo on this club.
  4. Good god the guy can't catch a break. Yeah. Looks like he's just not going to hold together long enough to develop into the pitcher we hoped he would be.
  5. what's AZ Phil saying about it now? "ummm, hehe... Oh! You mean *THAT* Angel Guzman! Sorry, I thought you were talking about someone else."
  6. I think it's a matter of Cub fans realizing at this point it wasn't just Bartman -- so why show only that one play ad nauseum? Whatever the motivation, it feels to Cub fans like the networks would like to create an atmosphere where another "curse" moment will occur that will bring down the Cubs again. And of course they'll be right there to cash in on it.
  7. How much did you pay? If it was a reasonable price I'd keep 'em... It's Cubs playoffs. I guess unless you would consider buying other seats.
  8. Not sure if this is the same or not, but Mike Greenburg just did a segment on the TV version of Mike & Mike that was all about Bartman, too. Well maybe the network idiots will be so busy with Bartman they'll forget to dust off their little goat graphics and "baaa!" sound F/X.
  9. Doug Davis. The classic crap lefty that punks the Cubs.
  10. Hehe, I was wondering who would be the first to say this.
  11. I'd feel, like, way more comfortable if Phillips would have called us the worst playoff team.
  12. What will take you away from Cubs games @ 7pm on a weekday night in LA?? Those games are right in the wheelhouse for west coast Cub fans. I think maybe your life deserves a "boo", not the schedule :P 8-)
  13. +1 I didn't realize the two were mutually exclusive.
  14. Meh. They could've done the same with last year's Cardinals. Plus, the mainstream media, for the most part, acts like sabermetrics don't even exist. So that sentiment really wouldn't prevail among them, anyway. Yeah, I fully expect many analysts to point to the grit and grind of the vets as a large factor no matter who wins the World Series. It's much easier to do that than look at actual stats.
  15. Yep. And people have been pointing out this statistical anomaly for months now, saying it means the DBacks will fade (myself included). Yet they keep winning. It just means very little at this point. Sometimes teams can buck the probabilities, it happens. Doesn't change the fact that looking ahead, they should still not be as good as they actually performed. If you flip a coin heads 10 times in a row, the odds of flipping heads don't become any or better for the 11th. A long streak of bucking the probabilities means little in terms of predicting whether that streak will continue. ...unless there's something not being accounted for in the model.
  16. Well, I mostly mean that if Buck is calling more Cub games this year, something wonderful has happened with the Cubs that hasn't happened in, oh...61 years or so. Ahh, went right over my head :o
  17. People like to say this a lot. The truth is, though, sometimes good pitching wins, and sometimes good offense wins. It's a short series. There's no telling how the games will play out. The game of baseball doesn't suddenly change because it's the playoffs or because the calendar says October. Sure, a team with 2 or 3 good pitchers, and then a dropoff (in their rotation), is better off in the playoff format, but that's pretty much the situation the Cubs find themselves in, anyway. Granted, the weather has an effect, but we're playing in Arizona, and hell, the forecast for Saturday is 81 degrees and sunny. That aside, the Cubs pitching is better anyway. I know it wasn't technically a playoff game, but SD's superior pitching didn't help them last night, which would seem to support your point. Never know, sometimes a good pitcher will put in a bad performance. Last night it happened to SD twice. That said, I'm pretty worried about Webb. At least he's not a lefty.
  18. I'll take Chip over Joe I'll take Chip over Stockton. Dick Stockton is brutal. every time I hear Stockton's voice I think Bears and Lions for some reason I'll take him over Joe Buck for a season. Even if he is brutal. I just don't want to hear Joe Buck call a Cubs game, at all costs. If it were up to me, I wouldn't mind Joe Buck calling a few Cubs games yet this year. Really? I just can't take him anymore. I'd take Chip over Buck, any day. Let me think of a hyperbolic example. I'd take that Brewer play-by-play guy over Buck (Brian Anderson) :P "and the Cubs are within Grand Slam range!!"
  19. :GULP: I remember saying JUST THAT!!!! :x  We did win the series.......in some alternate universe. :P
  20. Yep. And people have been pointing out this statistical anomaly for months now, saying it means the DBacks will fade (myself included). Yet they keep winning. It just means very little at this point. Sometimes teams can buck the probabilities, it happens.
  21. And this makes me even more nervous...
  22. Indeed, I think it's clear we're talking about probabilities and how people "feel" the series will play out though.
  23. KILL THIS GUY.
  24. Couldn't agree more. And if they do lose with him, I hope they still show some fight instead of just bending over in the next games They'll need to hang close and get into the BPs. That means Z needs to pitch very well, and we'll probably need to squeeze a run or two off Webb. It's going to be pretty tough. But realistically we only *need* to win 1 game in AZ, so all is not lost if we lose tomorrow.
  25. I beg your pardon? Are you in Chicago? What provider do you have? I'm under the understanding that TBS does not carry HD in this market. How did you get in HD? ...through the miracle of DirecTV. You should try it. We get all the HD sports first, basically. I've had TBSHD since Sept 28th.
