  1. All early indications are that he looks good. I just think there are more variables in play simply because you haven't seen him under the stress & strain of an NFL season yet. APete would probably be able to do the job well enough if Forte can't. To me the running game is more about blocking anyway -- but you already know that from my previous postings.
  2. that would be stupid Yea, i guess it would be silly to pay more attention to a baseball game(while at one) than just get wasted. Yes, it would be stupid to purposefully curtail your drinking (ie, fun). Well, if you can't control your bladder, maybe you should(or if you drink so much while at a game where you fill your bladder, you obviously have had way too much anyways). If you wanna get really drunk and watch a game on the side, i'd recommend going to a bar. The drinks would be cheaper. I guess i'm old fashioned in the way that if you are going to a baseball game, you should probably pay a bit of attention to it. You must be going to some old fashioned baseball games indeed if you can't take a piss in between innings.
  3. You do know you have to be wearing Cubs garb to get in, right?
  4. Not to take the thread in a completely different direction, but watching Teddy last night it looked to me like he was using his changeup more on the outside than inside. That's not a real scientific observation of course.
  5. So many positions are up in the air on O. That's my problem with how things have shaped up so far. We don't have any idea who the #1 or #2 WR is. The #1 RB is a rookie, and therefore susceptible to being changed out. We don't know who the #1 QB is. We don't know if Williams will work out at LT for the opener. Might be St. Clair. We aren't sure about Olin's achilles -- could be Beekman. Metcalf is struggling. Yikes. TE is set. Whoohoo! 8-)
  6. You have to remember that Lou only had 3 lefties in the bullpen to face Branyon. Let's get a good count of all the mistakes we had to cover in order to win last night: 1) Had to cover for Lou not using a lefty against Branyan. Did that by scoring some more runs. 2) Had to cover for Quade screwing up 2 send calls @ 3B. Again, ditto -- bats covered his butay. 3) Reed Johnson had to bail Lee out of hitting into yet another critical DP. Am I missing anything?
  7. Because the only other guys in the pen that can go multiple innings are our primary setup men at the moment. Also, I think their plan is to piggyback Marshall on days Harden starts. OK. Somehow I missed that Lieb isn't around now.
  8. You're right. So he's rotating guys in and out of those 3 roles. The newest arrivals to the grinder are Gaudin and Shark. Howry's due to be rotated out. It's not ideal. But look at Milwaukee's BP. They've got really nothing in any role to speak of.
  9. Why not just use Marshall instead of Bob? There's no reason to protect Sean by only using him in Lefty/Lefty matchups. Does anyone really know why Sean continues to perform well, yet continues to be underutilized?
  10. It's not like he didn't show any signs @ WR. When we got deep, he was easily the biggest threat on the field. His problem was not knowing the offense. I might agree that his potential as a #1 is limited by his inability to comprehend plays, but I don't see much doubt he'll always be a deep threat when he's in there. And anyway, Hester had another great year returning the ball despite the out of bounds kicks.
  11. Didn't take Sori long to start hitting off his DL stint did it. Pretty nice to have a guy who heals fast and doesn't require a lot of rehab time when he does go down.
  12. I can tell you Yost has been riding Torres for multiple innings since he got him. I don't know if that's very smart, but that's what he has been doing. He's been pretty much over-using CC since the day he arrived. Tonight Yost said "CC's slider was flat tonight" -- I wonder if this could be a sign of some fatigue. Yet, fully knowing this was the case, Yost kept CC out there for 120 more pitches. That tells you how little faith he has in that bullpen.
  13. The Brewers hardly beat themselves. They blew one defensive play and saved themselves several other runs (of course, a couple were thanks to 3rd base coach Mike Quade). The Cubs had chances all night and barely converted (finally in the 9th). The Brewers had chances in one inning and got the most of it. The botched double-play was directly caused by Reed Johnson's slide. That wasn't a blown play as much as it was a blown up play.
  14. No, they're amazing. Nobody would have believed last year that they could top "Who's Now?" for stupidity. But somehow they came through.
  15. You bet. That was one seriously entertaining baseball game.
  16. "911 service." "Umm, yes I'd like to report half the nsbb board just had a heart attack."
  17. End this. NOW. WTF where the hell was that?!?
  18. Please don't do this Carlos. Don't blow this.
  19. Right to a full count off the bat. But Hall bails him out.
