  1. For the 3rd time this weekend I believe. Ludwick walks, probably because the Phils are so flabbergasted at how he could be doing this they just decided to punt.
  2. Am I just blanking out or do the Cards not wear that hat very often? (has the Cardinal on the hat instead of the StL)
  3. almost? i think it's pretty clear he was, and has been. There is a segment of the voting body who just doesn't like the guy *cough*new york media*cough* if only it were that simple. the new york media don't hold enough votes to blacklikst him all alone No, but their hatred for him is clear and they most certainly talk to/influence other writers around the country. Obviously its enough to keep him out.
  4. Which is weird that they went out and got an old, slow, home-run hitter in Griffey whose stats are not too different from Konerko's and Swisher's. But Griffey has had a good last month. They're hoping for lightning in a bottle offensively. The Konerko/Swisher struggles at the plate have caused no end of frustration for that organization.
  5. AJ has this effect on people. Basically, when in doubt just punch AJ.
  6. You know, the more I watch these clubs from the East the more I realize the NL is completely in the Central this year.
  7. Lou did it to give Z a rest after two long outings, no need to worry. Well that's the speculation but do you know for sure? I won't relax until Lou says that's the case. Nope, it's not speculation Dex, Lou just confirmed it in the post game press conference. Great little tid bit about Z hitting too: "When I ask Z to bunt he always tells me 'how can you ask a .350 hitter to bunt?'"
  8. Know what? His real name doesn't even matter. He's Jim Beam to me. :P
  9. Why send Z out to warm up if you're going to pull him because of prior long outings? to give shark more time to warm up. Alright. I'm going to remain positive on this one and conclude it's just a good move by Lou.
  10. Why send Z out to warm up if you're going to pull him because of prior long outings?
  11. .....and the obligatory Bartman reference from Pirate announcers. YOU'VE NEVER BEEN FAR ENOUGH FOR A BARTMAN TO MATTER YOU DOLTS.
  12. shift pays off on that one.
  13. And all of Milwaukee perks up, hoping....
  14. Is this guy's name possibly Jim Beam?
  15. That was hit a ton. Did the wind keep that from being out on the road? Looked like it was hit much harder than where it landed.
  16. ur funny dood. you forgot how can we let snell beat us
  17. SLAM. The Angels are good.
  18. Lee is starting to piss me off. He's been terrible this month, and he's trending *downward* Something must be done.
  19. Hey Lee, try taking the ball the other way for a change. You are pretty much at 100% ground balls when you pull, pal.
  20. Does anyone really make an argument about Santo's worthiness, or do they just vote against him because of the 40 year old grudge? I think it's the latter, because I never hear a convincing argument that shows Santo shouldn't be in.
  21. Thank God for bad outfielders and Geo starting to take the ball the other way more.
  22. from every account i've read, brooks robinson is the best defensive 3B of all time. santo was very good but not great. still, it's pointless in arguing between the two of them because they both clearly belong in the hall of fame. i never said that santo was as good, just in the ballpark. and ronnie's offensive superiority exceeds robinson's defensive superiority. robinson played on winning teams and had longevity on his side, but santo was just a much better hitter and usually that's what gets people into the hall. Unless you click your heels to rub it in the face of the NY press corps. Then you get blackballed.
  23. Does anyone have any info on what Lee might be working on to improve his hitting situation? Because it's been months now, and it sure looks like he's doing nothing about the fact that he's a ground ball machine. But again, I don't know if anything is being done to help him. If this keeps up we've got to move him out of the 3 spot, correct?
  24. Lee is the greatest hitter in baseball........at hitting ground balls to shortstop.
