  1. This season is slowly but surely turning out to be what I thought it would be in August. Nice job getting everyone's hopes up with some surprises earlier in the year, but what we're seeing right now is the real Bears. Bad coaching, aging overpaid defenders, no real playmakers on offense. They may finish slightly better than expected, but make no mistake: this is not a good team, and it's the 2nd disappointing season in a row for Lovie Smith -- a coach whose luster is very quickly rubbing off.
  2. LOL. Hester has totally lost it.
  3. Dusty's a joke. Did you see him get blown right into the end zone on that play?
  4. Yeah, I don't know if it's worth my time to watch this crap.
  5. It's going to loads of fun Monday listening to all the Packer fans. "Wow your defense sucks!" Like I haven't known that since September.
  6. *drops head in shame*
  7. Was it Garza who got beat like ragdoll by Jolly on that play? Whoever it was, never run behind him. Again.
  8. LOL, nice job.
  9. Old Urlacher makes an appearance for a change.
  10. Now to watch crap defense and another Packers score. *sigh*
  11. Packers should net 10 yards on that challenge. Still, I don't understand using a challenge when it won't put the other team out of field goal range or really even change the situation. Bears will still have the ball deep in the zone with an opportunity to score.
  12. Look at how vivid the Cubbie Blue was in that clip. Seems to always be that way on National TV. :cray: I'm gonna get drunk tonight just for the hell of it.
  13. That division is a heck of an arms race. If Tampa stays good it's going to be even more intense than it was last year. Oooh, arms race.
  14. Just rent a National Van Lines semi, fill it up with cash, and back it up to CC's house.
  15. I thought they would be motivated as hell last week. It might have helped in the run game, but then again they've been solid against the run all year. They haven't stopped the pass all year. I hope they can this week, but I'll need to see it before I believe it.
  16. Isn't he also the guy who used to broadcast wrestling matches? And he broadcasts NFL games too (I think including some of the Bears' games this year). XFL. Wrestling, XFL, same difference; they're both Vince McMahon toys. :D Here comes THE XFEEEEEELLLL!!!! .....and there goes the XFEEEELLLL!!!
  17. Lidge was 32nd in the NL in pitcher VORP. Of course, VORP is affected by the innings that a pitcher pitches, but in an award named after Cy Young, I consider the innings pitched an important part of the equation. I do too. I've been hearing a little bitterness that Lidge was perfect and didn't receive serious consideration. But I also feel like a starter is contributing so much more.
  18. Dan Hampton the other day on the Score basically told Harris and company to shut up and play. It was great, he called out Urlacher saying Mr. Superstar LB why don't you do something besides talk. Of the DL he said why don't you quit getting stood up at the line of scrimmage and get to the QB. That being said I don't expect a change, I believe, as the previous five or so QB's have done, Rodgers to have his best QB rating of season. How can he not? He'll ample time to sit in the pocket and the Bears secondary cannot cover anyone. Yeah, the problem I have with getting angry at the criticism is, if there are no results then it's unrealistic to expect there to be none. What, the Bears are supposed to pay out millions of dollars, the fans are supposed to watch their defense get ripped to shreds through the air every week, and everyone should just shut up and take it? Unrealistic. Illogical. You got paid. Good for you. But if you don't perform, you're gonna hear it. Deal with it. Guys like Urlacher, and now Harris -- they seem to come off like they think they're untouchable. I don't whether it's just arrogance, or what. But it comes off like they think they're above reproach. That's just not how it works. Never has been in this town, and never will be.
  19. And some of you would like to see Z benched in favor of a DH. For shame, I tell you! For shame!
  20. yeah, no way the cubs should pay him that much. I guess I'm the only one who will be shocked if he actually gets that. But still, I will be.
  21. I'm worried about that game, being sandwiched between two games against divisional rivals (Packers and Vikings). Rams aren't very good, but they had a stretch where they proved they can beat some decent teams, especially if they aren't focused. I think that stretch is done. A new coach bounce is not unheard of, but Haslett is a goof and that team sucks. If the Bears are any good that won't be a problem. I'm looking for Hester's first return TD in that game, on the fast track, against a subpar opponent. Unless it happens Sunday of course.
  22. I don't think they wanted to add more payroll, but they lost a crapload off their books this year with Giambi, Abreu and others becoming FAs, so why not spend it? And they do need pitching. I suppose, yea. I see $150million and I go "holy crap!" Then I realize we gave almost that much to Soriano, and I go "holy crap!"
  23. Why would you think that, because they happened on the same day? I don't see how you can't think Gregg is the answer to Wood being let go. Unless you're in the Padres crave a 5M mediocre closer camp. I don't see how this means "we're done with the bullpen this offseason". Hendry will only make so many moves. It's one thing to think they might add some riff raff. It's another thing to expect another big splash in the bullpen when there are other significant moves on the table. If he does it then fine. I don't see how you can try to divorce Gregg from the Wood move though. It's pretty obvious this is at least the *initial* answer to Wood being let go, if not the final answer.
  24. One thing I'll be watching: last week Babich seemed to finally start letting Brown off his leash a little more. It looked like it worked -- I saw Brown more than I remember seeing him all year long. My hope is, they were just holding him back in the early part of the season so he would be fresh for the stretch run. Let's see if Mike is more active near the line of scrimmage again this week. The mitigating factor: this is largely a passing offense, so they might need to keep him back in coverage all game, even though Mike's really not that great in coverage.
  25. I'm going to doubt Harden would accept that move. I'm going to doubt Harden would have any choice other than sitting out. Besides, it's not really that original of an idea. I heard that idea bandied about a couple years ago on the A's. I'd rather keep him in the rotation as the #5 starter to give him extra days rest, wouldn't you?
