  1. We could start a thread hall of fame forum, put this one in it.
  2. I was just coming here to make fun of Pete Prisco on Sportsline for saying something similar... I really think that having the offense on the field more, and give the defense more time off (and not asking them to carry the team and do the bulk of the scoring) will help the defense...not to mention Lovie doing the play calling. I'm not saying expect shootouts though. I'm saying that those 4th quarter blown leads were disheartening, and it's going to be mostly the same people on the field. Hopefully the change in coaching will help, but I'm still worried about it.
  3. I come to this board looking for a little sympathy from my fellow Cub fans, and look what I get.
  4. That is what I figured.
  5. I'm worried about our defense, still. I don't think we'll be Broncos bad, but it's the same lineup that blew those 4th quarter leads last year. That hurt. Bad. That challenged my faith as a Bear fan. We don't do that.
  6. At least they are able to draw fans when the team has decent talent. Not every city can even do that much. Including some much larger cities.
  7. It's easy for columnists to say the Hawks made a mistake. That's the lazy way out. THEY JUST MADE THE CF! FIRING THE GM IS STUPID! Yeah, no. That's why I was talking up Rozner's article earlier. He looked behind things a little. He's actually been paying attention to hockey in this town for a little longer than April. And to be fair, Tallon has done some good things. I like to think the comparisons to Savard are valid -- both guys brought us a certain part of the way, but there were still things that needed to get better. I also think it is interesting that Tallon still has a job with the Hawks. Seems like it might have been all part of the plan. Maybe Dale even knew about it.
  8. I nearly passed out when I realized what the hell that was.
  9. Well, I'm not sure if I just hit a streak or what, but I just pulled 4 articles off google search and read what can only be described as a thorough condemnation of the Hawks and this move. I guess we're all about to find out whether it was the right thing to do or not. For my part, I was never all that impressed with Tallon. I've never forgotten the multiple years of bad hockey which led up to the past 2, much better, seasons.
  10. This is a huge misconception. Cutler had a pretty decent running game last year. They were 12th in the league with 1862 rushing yards (more than teams like the Bears, Steelers, and Jags who most consider big run 1st teams). Their 4.8 ypc was tied w/ Carolina for the best in the league. They didnt' have anyone over 350 yards, but whoever they plugged in ran the ball very well behind what was an OL that is better than what the Bears have for 2009. After looking at it, you are right, I fell victim to the misperception. They did, however, have a poor defense, and poor special teams according to the rankings I saw. I'm not going to say the Bears are this great incredible team over the Broncos in everything, but we *should* be better on defense, and I would be surprised if our special teams don't deliver better field position on the whole. Again, none of these factors are even taken into account by the scientist.
  11. Might be the best thread ever.
  12. The Cubs do promotions. I don't recall a big ticket discount promotion though. They give away enough free stuff. I always look on the schedule for the days I'm going to Wrigley, and when there's no promotional listing it's like "awww, no free useless crap."
  13. IS THERE ANYTHING HE WON'T DESTROY?!? They're all funny, but this one slayed me for some reason. =D>
  14. I'm guessing you don't have to listen to rival fans all day long like some of us. You can only tune out so much. Assuming he's in NYC, then he probably hears from Mets and Yankees fans quite frequently. Personally I run across STL, MIL and CWS fans, not to mention a ton of Philly fans, on a regualr basis. I still don't understand why it matters. It's a technical move. If they want to show off their ignorance, fine. But crap talking is for losers anyway, so why does it matter? It's having to listen to it. You'll probably hear about from the idiots on sports shows too, in one form or another.
  15. Olsen seems to think so. I like to wait until the season starts. The level of dedication is often influenced by how a guy feels after a few nights in the hot tub after having been pummeled for 60 minutes.
  16. he's kind of right Eh, he seems to think it's OK to cheat on your wife with every 20 year old that comes along, so long as there aren't children to devastate. I can't agree with that. Just don't get married if you want to be able to take advantage of being a professional athlete. Some do exactly that. It seems like a more reasonable solution than marrying a woman and then leaving your family and wife as roadkill in your wake when you decide to avail yourself of your opportunities.
  17. Someone should have reminded Wells that Ludwick was a fluke last year.
  18. I'm guessing you don't have to listen to rival fans all day long like some of us. You can only tune out so much.
  19. Great. This will give Cards fans something else to laugh at us about.

  21. I love how he heaps losing the division lead on Cutler, ignoring the lack of defense and no running game - a recipe for disaster in any event, but especially for teams who play outdoors in winter-weather cities. The Bears are obviously superior in both those categories, which accounts for the disparity in "QB records" (something which, when used in a published article, should automatically disqualify you from being able to apply the word "scientist" to your title), yet he never mentions this. Then he complains that someone called him an idiot. What do you expect?
  22. I guess they really do blame him for screwing the cap by not getting those offers out in time, then.
  23. I can't be the only one that found this hilarously funny. Man this chic has some serious problems longer than a week to perform something like this. This is deeper than just some snap. Well yeah. She was all kinds of crazy. Looks like McNair found out too late. You don't want someone like this latching on to you and re-defining her entire life around you. Danger, Will Robinson! Danger!
  24. Radar currently looks pretty gloomy. Not sure what it will be by gametime though.
  25. because apparently soriano is one of those cats that needs "special" treatment. he is used to being told hours before the fact that he isn't going to play. to show up and be notified at game time is beneath him. i wouldn't want to play with a guy like that. How do you know Lou hasnt told him that if he was going to give him the next day off hed tell him before hand? Lou has always done it in the past with Soriano, and now he decides not to. Why? Not saying Soriano has a right to be pissed, but we dont know the whole story of what Lou has told Soriano would be protocol with something like this. Who cares why he didn't do it this time? It's Soriano crying like a baby to the press when he's playing like crap. That's going to rub people the wrong way.
