  1. LOL @ Steelers. This makes me happy.
  2. Yep. Just pick up Cameron on a short term deal and be done with it.
  3. Yeah, I think so too.
  4. I like your dreams. But would you draft Wall if you already have Rose? You have to draft the best guy available, especially in a draft like this where there's not a clear second-best player. And I think Wall is going to be better than Rose because Wall seems to actually enjoy playing basketball. Yeah, I'd just take the best player.
  5. They've really got Mesa scrambling. I think it's mission accomplished for the Cubs, no matter how this works out.
  6. I've never gotten that vibe out of DLee, but Buff definitely has some invisibility issues, and I think he's a great candidate to be traded some day this season or offseason. I find too many people have that "I don't really care" look about them in general. Makes it hard for everyone else as they try to pick up all the crap that person is busy not caring about and get it the hell done. A pet peeve of mine.
  7. I like your dreams.
  8. It was three years ago that the Blackhawks were rated as the worst franchise in professional sports. What a turn around! If I'm not mistaken it was ESPN Magazine that did the rankings. I think they still do them every year. The "nail in the coffin" they used to bury the Hawks was Wirtz's famous quote that winning the Stanley Cup was "too expensive." What an [expletive]. I still remember the morning I went to the Chicago Tribune online and saw that he had died. I could hardly contain my happiness. I don't want anyone to die, but Wirtz made it so hard to be a Blackhawks fan, most of us just put our fandom on hold until he was gone. Sure enough, almost immediately this franchise broke out. It was uncanny, really. Like a cloud being lifted.
  9. I wonder if an interested team or two would suddenly surface if the Cubs announced they were keeping Bradley.
  10. Tort was pretty hard on his team after the game, but that's his style. Just the same, I like hearing those sorts of things from the opposing coach. He knew that even though it was a 2-1 OT game, his guys got thoroughly dominated all night. The total domination was remarkable last night. He's right, they didn't even look like they could skate with the Hawks. The fact that they had a 1-0 lead into the 3rd period was pretty amazing. That's why it was so frustrating to watch until the Hawks finally broke through. But Tort's assessment seems on target.
  11. Yikes. He's young though, maybe he'll figure something out. Or....not. :)
  12. Seems like Cameron on a short term deal wouldn't be all that bad an option at this point.
  13. I admit it I'll probably have the MLB network on just a tad more because Gammons is there. He's a very familiar voice, and he does really care about the game.
  14. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=4727426 I am a little curious as to how congress even has the right to do this, I'm guessing in part because a majority of universities are supported by state funding? Interstate trade, I'm thinking. It's the catch-all that gives the Feds the right to be involved in most anything. Plus, throw something like this back in their faces and watch how they crawl into every orifice of your life.
  15. Hehe. I have a couple friends who are probably going to be calling for Sandberg to be manager soon. The conversation is probably going to sound much like those quotes. Thing is, they don't know enough about the minors to realize he's been promoted to AAA yet. Any chance we can keep this quiet?
  16. I'm deferring to my Cub brethren in giving Ricketts some time...
  17. I'm trying to think........and other than Cutler, I don't think there's anyone who should be considered untouchable. Depends on the deal, of course, but overall if there's someone who we can get value for in return, I think it should be looked at.
  18. I think right now they are pretty good, but the salary cap is going to bite them hard in the next several years. Also, I wouldnt put that much stock in Melrose. I'd like to see where people would rank the Hawks' franchise now, as opposed to a few years ago when someone published a list and they were at or near the bottom (can't remember who did the list). It's an amazing turnaround, and one of the best sports stories going. Although, as you say, the looming salary cap concerns could put a damper on things in the future.
  19. Damn, I didn't know big buff could even do that! Hawks win!!!
  20. Takes a group hacking at point blank, but finally...
  21. No way. No [expletive] way.
  22. Just cannot be believed.
  23. Alright, time to score.
  24. Come on, when are the [expletive] percentages going to start kicking in on these chances? This can't keep happening dammit. Laws of the universe haven't been suspended last time I checked.
