  1. I guess that could be. I don't know enough to say for sure, but it seems like "keeping the puck up" is more of a general guideline that helps against any goalie. Most guys seem to get those leg blockers down on the ice pretty quickly.
  2. The guest house on that thing looks like it is 3 times the size of my house.
  3. I'm starting to get to the point where I start to get worried about the home games. I was reading how the players say they try to get too cute at home, trying to put on a show for the fans. I don't know if I buy that. I think it's more or less just a small sample size. But it is weird so see them outscored so far at home in the playoffs 20-15(17-14 without empty nets) I wonder...do they take more penalties at home? Maybe they're just too jacked up and play less disciplined? Could be. I feel like it is easier to start winning at home though, rather than be getting beat on the road and have to try to turn that around.
  4. These Blackhawks are road dawgs. That makes me feel more confident for some reason. Teams count on their home ice being there for them -- for better or worse. They really can't count on that vs. the Hawks, because they'll come in and beat you in front of your home folk regardless of how raucous and loud they are. Now if we can just shore up our own home ice difficulties...
  5. Hey Lou, that's what a good lefty out of the pen looks like.
  6. Well, at least they're booing a guy who struck out twice and GIDP twice. Could be worse. Actually I was talking about them boo'ing Betancourt for throwing to 1st base to keep Castro close Fans always boo when an opposing pitcher throws to first .... and I have no idea why. Never understood it either, it really is ignorant I think most know the pitcher has to employ his strategy. It's an excuse to boo the opposing team, so they boo. I've got no problem with it
  7. I highly recommend scoring the winning run right here
  8. in my world even scouts are sometimes wrong
  9. Bout as much as can be expected from Marmol. Thanks, Grabow.
  10. It is pretty incredible that the Cubs have been this bad and yet they aren't really too far gone. St. Louis is 3-7 in their last 10. I didn't realize this. I knew the Crew had fallen on hard times, but now it's up to 6 straight losses. They look abysmal right now; worse than the Cubs. Cincy & Pittsburgh are both ahead of the Cubs -- I don't think it's out of line to suggest that those two teams would need to prove they can stick around late in the season before feeling like they are a threat. I guess I'm just hoping the Cubs don't stay in love with their roster. Maybe a "fire sale" is too much to ask, but if they're sitting 4 or 5 games out of the WC at the deadline I hope they are looking to make a deal or two. Way too early for me to start suggesting who it should be though.
  11. It will be interesting to see which direction they go, but I hope they don't have to make the decision for awhile. I'd be fine with making it a 3 man booth though, if they wanted to go that direction.
  12. Didn't he pretty consistently drub the Bears in '06, too? He just doesn't pick well when it comes to the Bears. A King pick in the mid 20's is probably a good thing :)
  13. In that picture yeah -- he actually does look a bit like Kid K.
  14. Sure, 16 miles, but that's a 3 hour drive. ;) I would guess that vast majority of NY athletes live outside the city, many in NJ. Eli and a couple others live in my town of Hoboken, which is between Newark and Manhattan. It has nothing to do with where you have to live/commute, it's more about playing for a team that until now has been in competition with the Islanders for NY area popularity, and being in the middle of a huge transition that is still unsettled. Valid points. I just don't think that the relative obscurity of the Nets would outweigh the dominance of the LeBron James brand. I think LeBron is what the Nets need to be considered a NYC team. The team has an interesting history from it's days in the ABA, so it's not like it's just some crappy expansion team prodding along in obscurity. LeBron comes to the Nets, and its hip to be a Net fan, everyone is talking about them, and then before you know it, the team is in Brooklyn and they are a real NYC team. If the Angels can do it in LA, the Nets can do it in NYC. If he joins the Clippers it becomes hip to be a Clips fan too. Lebron would make any team in the NBA the instant new sweetheart ballclub.
  15. Yeah, I just think Newark is a huge deterrent as well. Especially when Chicago and NY are both on the table.
  16. Which could happen, of course. Ultimately I just don't think Peter King brings much to the table as a football "expert."
  17. But it's NJ. The ass end of the NBA. There, I said it.
  18. It's not so much about NJ rehiring Cal, as it is how much does Cal want to go back to the Nets organization? At this point, I would say there is little chance of him returning to the Nets organization. He'd go if he knew Lebron would be there. I'm not so sure he'd go if he didn't know Lebron would be there.
  19. Peter King has enough trouble with coherent analysis during the season itself. I wouldn't give his "ranking" in May any more validity than I would bathroom graffiti.
  20. So true. Lebron would really be "getting in on the ground floor" if he went to NJ, so to speak.
