  1. What a turnaround, wow. God I hate Favre. But God, that's great football.
  2. I'd keep throwing against Minny
  3. I find that people who make broad generalizations about large groups of people are usually more ignorant than the people whom they make such generalizations about. You darn Southerners. :hello:
  4. Well, at least nobody will be able to say the Bears couldn't handle being "the hunted" instead of "the hunter."
  5. 5-11 wouldn't shock me at all. 3-13 sounds a little extreme to me. 9-7 also sounds possible, though not probable. It's wide open, but really only wide open within the realm of mediocrity. Looking at it that way, I would say prepare for some decent highs this season but also a lot of frustration and most likely no football come January in Chicago.
  6. I'm alarmed at the apparent lack of preparation as well. Even with the changes, I expected to see a more cohesive unit than that. It's not like they started practicing last week. They've been at it since OTAs, months ago.
  7. He was ineligible to play. OJ didn't kill people during his years at USC (that we know of). I'd take it from Bush and give it to no one. If the NCAA acted when this news broke, instead of 5 years later, this would be a much easier resolution. Seems right to me. The delay definitely hurts it.
  8. Since when does "likely better than most in the NFC" translate to "possibly in the top 50%" or "a pretty average QB right now"? When he says "likely better than most", he is absolutely saying that Hasselbeck is one of the best QB's in the NFC. Not sure how you can argue in his defense. If I have 100 QB, and I'm saying he's better than most, that could mean better than 51 of the QBs.
  9. I guess I'm surprised it's that meaningful to you. It'll be fun to watch for me, but no more significant than most games. Check out his screen name. I get that he's a Michigan fan. But I'm an ND fan and I don't see this game as particularly important. Every loss yields a lower chance of a good bowl game. I don't see how it isn't important.
  10. This might be the first seven-win division champion. And Seattle is awful the same way the Rams were awful last season. Hollowed out roster with zero playmakers on either side of the ball. Wow, that is a huge overstatement on Seattle. They are nowhere near as bad as the Rams last year. You have Trufant, Thomas, Tatpu, Curry all playmakers on the defense. Hasselback is still better than any QB in the division and likely better than most in the NFC What? Yeah...Hasselback may be the best QB in the west, but I think more than half the NFC QB's are better than he is. Brees, Rodgers, Favre, Romo, Manning, McNabb, Ryan, and Cutler are better than Hasselback. Then there's guys like Kolb and Stafford which could be better...it's debatable. But Hasselback isn't bad....he's just not that good either. I'm going to defend hube's quote though. He didn't say Hasselbeck is one of the best QBs in the NFC. He said he's the best in the QB-poor NFC West, and possibly in the top 50% of the NFC. It's really just saying he's probably a pretty average QB right now, but the rest of the division is bad at the position.
  11. I suppose all his ailments will be cured by a little change in venue.
  12. Well, the point with the Giants being brought up is that you'll never see an article like this generated from the NY-dominated media regarding their beloved team, even though it can easily be argued they share many of the same qualities as the Bears. It's way easier to fire off something ultra-negative about a city 1,500 miles to the West than dirty up your own back yard.
  13. Again, difference between not maximizing potential vs. painting them as a "terrible organization." There's a huge gulf between the two.
  14. LOL really? Yeah I'll be tuning on to prime time NASCAR right in the middle of conference top-25 play.
  15. I think the Bears could be doing more -- there's no question about that. But the stadium is full every weekend win or lose, the checks are being covered, there's a profit margin. It's a conservatively run organization. I definitely feel like they should be doing better, but on the other hand the criticism they've received over this strikes me as a tad over-the-top. They fill up their ballpark, they turn a profit, the value of the team has increased.. Surely that should be mentioned prominently somewhere. I mean, we're not talking about the Jags here.
  16. I'll bet they'd rather be showing a CFB game that night. NASCAR is a total dog.
  17. They CAN'T lose this weeked to SIU. Not after coming so close against Mizzou, and not to start off the year 0-2 before even starting their conference schedule. They need to figure it out and just get the damn job done.
  18. Man. That was a great way to end the opening CFB weekend. Maryland/Navy was even good. Then Boise/VT. It's so great to have football back on the schedule.
  19. I usually don't gamble, but a moderate amount of money on the Lions seems like a smart play to me right now.
  20. It's becoming the thing to do. Send people down and stroke the ego, kiss the butay, whatever. Buy the guy something and tell him how much you love him, I don't know. Vikes did it with Favre, now the Jets with Revis. Probably other cases out there. Seems silly to me, but then those teams that do it have experienced success with those players, so whatever puts wins up on the board.........that's what gets done.
  21. Yeah. It had to be a game I was at, too. I'm happy with where Soto's at right now.
  22. No. My guess is you have Red Zone and Red Zone HD. You get the Red Zone Channel which will flip around to any game where a team has the ball in the red zone and/or the most interesting games. DirecTV Sunday Ticket is still the only way to watch entire out of market games on tv. Thanks for the info. I prefer watching games at the bar anyway. Red Zone channel is good, but I can't see only having that channel with no option to tune in to the actual games. Especially in the 2nd half of the games. RZC will focus in on games that are blowouts because one team is in the Red Zone. Once the games start coming down to the wire, I like to tune into the close games and forget about the blowouts.
  23. Yeah, pretty dumb comment to open your article with. The more one reads Chicago sportswriters, the more one realizes they're pretty much just average fans with the means to be heard by more than most others.
  24. Garza is apparently backup center now--I certainly hope we don't find ourselves needing to test that one out. Shaw was cut due to Iwuh's solid play. The cutting of Iglesias and Gilbert are damning, final proof of our need for new personnel management, though I strongly feel that glaring fact has been evident for quite some time. We badly, badly need new direction and management for our football team. That's the obvious truth, and it's not going to go away until we get that change.
  25. Is that Ill/mizzou game a national broadcast or regional? I didn't see it in my guide this morning.
