  1. That's the guy I'd be targeting. Either him or Marshawn. But how realistic is it for Dallas to trade one of their backs to another conference contender? I find it hard to believe.
  2. I'm more interested in Nadal than Federer. I even switched over to the match last night during the last set to catch him winning the title. That's a big deal for me, but in fairness the Jets/Ravens game was pretty lackluster. I do want to see an American though.
  3. Looks like I chose a great week to be away from my couch. The sunday ticket app on my iphone was fun though. I forgot to update the OS on my iphone so I couldn't update the app! My bad, I should have known better. I'm all set for this weekend though.
  4. Awesome. Lions hate \:D/
  5. With Grant on my ffb team, I'm more concerned with the health of a Packer than I like to be normally. Unfortunately, it's not sounding very good... As long as he's back after Week 6, I think we'll be all right. The schedule gets progressively tougher after that as we face Minnesota twice in four weeks, the Jets on Halloween, Dallas, and Atlanta. I presume all of those teams will have figured some stuff out by then. However, it's interesting that none of them had a particularly good opening week.
  6. Who? Bears or Cowboys? Bears, obviously. Misplaced rage: the Bears didn't invent the completed catch rule. But the Bears did triple the Lions number of total yards, so I can kinda understand some dislike. True. I'm assuming his comment is all about losing the game on that almost-catch though. But I could be wrong.

  8. 5 late games = a nice, full-featured day on NFL Sunday Ticket, boys.
  9. Who the hell is asking for more blitzing? I don't mind mixing up coverage and putting on a blitz. However, if you're picking whom you're going to leave on an island, don't isolate your corner who is matched up against Calvin Johnson. Right. My point was though, that last year we complained about blitzing too much, and that Peppers arrival was suppose to make it so you could rush 4 and not have to blitz as much. But Lovie is delusional and thinking that fans are clamoring for more blitzing....which is nonsense. What catches my attention about that quote the most is the little "Football 101" comment that he threw in there. Lovie seems increasingly frustrated with his interactions with the media & fans to me. He seems to feel that people who aren't employed in the game itself are not qualified to comment or criticize.
  10. Well well. KC with a little more spunk than I recall from them.
  11. Sorry for the injury, but Grant's not that critical a piece. They can get similar production from alot of guys with defenses scrambling to try to stop the many airborne weapons on that team.
  12. Too loose with the rock, BAL
  13. Let me get this straight. You say that Lovie is normally risk-averse to his team's detriment, but then because he took a big risk yesterday, that you didn't agree with, and that ended up hurting the team, you're going to praise him for it? Just because I wouldn't have done the same thing doesn't mean I can't find something about the decision that I choose to like, yes. I like to call those "lowered expectations" I'm just trying to be nice to the guy.
  14. Comments above. I don't think it was all that unreasonable, given the circumstances, to flip one's opinion from normally wanting them to go for it on 4th and goal to wanting the field goal.

  16. I'm not going to change my mind that I would rather have seen a FG try there. But one thing I will say is that I spend a lot of time thinking about how Lovie is risk-averse and likes to take the conservative route too often. Here was a case where he really took a big risk. It didn't pay off, but from that perspective it was actually good to see him go for the TD, in hindsight.
  17. Manumaleuna was the FB on 4th down. He had a great lead block, actually. It was just too bad he couldn't block the other 10, because there were at least 3 people who got through on that side. I also thought it might have been a hole for Forte to run up Manu's back on that play. Push the lead blocker and fall on his back. We don't have a guy that's really built for goaline rushing. Like Biggs mentioned this morning, Forte is an upright rusher, and he's not going to change at this point (nor would you really want to change that). In one of the mailbags I read this week (I think it was Pompei's Q&A), someone mentioned the idea of using Henry Melton in a situation like that. He's played FB before, and could be used like the Fridge in that kind of situation. I was actually encouraged by a lot this week...with the caveat that it's the Lions. But man, our linebackers looked like studs. Urlacher was all over the place, and Briggs' strip of Hill was just perfect timing. I hadn't thought of using Melton there, but the idea has some merit. I'm not sure it makes a difference if the line continues to allow penetration like that, though. There's no way to go but up. Think of it that way :)
  18. Hopefully they can get healthy. Thankfully we have the Bills next week and I hope there is no letdown. Sounds like Grant's probably going to end up missing the game against Buffalo because of the sprained ankle. Hopefully he won't end up missing too much time. Harrell probably has a torn ACL and Jenkins suffered a broken hand, although he'll play through it. It definitely could've been worse. All we had to do was look at the other sideline to see that. Just fortunate we won yesterday. I don't care how ugly it looked at the end. It's pretty hard to gameplan for a pocket passer and then have a completely different style QB simply come into the game full time. I've seen that sort of thing happen before.
  19. I think it is safe to say that from his previous business experience he knows a lot more about sales and marketing than he does about baseball operations. Therefore it is perfectly logical that he could instantly identify that an upgrade needed to be made in that department but would not feel as comfortable doing something on the baseball side until he has a more in depth review and understands better what is being done well and where there could be improvements. There is no way privately he is looking at the record of this team and the empty seats and not putting pressure on Hendry and his baseball operations team to turn it around in the short term or lose their jobs. So I think Hendry is on the hot seat for 2011. So essentially it's perfectly logical that he will suck at getting this team back on its feet on the field. Awesome.
  20. There's being aggressive, and then there's THAT.
  21. Hahah, wow. I guess there's some value in just kneeling down after all.
  22. Hold. Blatant as hell.
  23. every qb misses wide open receivers. don't take a couple of throws a game and let them tell the story. Truth. Cutler misses a lot fewer than other Bear QBs I've seen that's for sure. He played very, very well today IMO given all the circumstances. Great throw at the end to win it. Forte -- I'm very excited about him again. Watching him blow past people down the sidelines & not get caught from behind was freaking awesome.
  24. I saw some good things today, but I'm a believer that you can't divorce a team from it's mistakes. They pull that moving forward, obviously it won't likely end well against most of our opponents. Make everyone sleep with their footballs I guess.
  25. Yea, I'm sure the officials will say they don't have a choice there. And that's probably true. But I've got to offer up that I think it should be a catch, or else I'm not being honest.
