  1. Well they want someone to help Tice with passing because he doesn't know how to do it. But really, they don't know how to hire someone to do it, in order to show Tice how to do it. Poor Jay probably sits at the bar some nights shaking his head. I'm only half joking: as soon as they give Jay the power to audible, he should just start running the offense himself through audibles.
  2. Oh my god, there's meatball and then there's that article. What's truly scary is thinking about the percentage of Bear fans who will read that article, and nod their heads in silent agreement. Ugh.
  3. It's probably either that, or just take the loss. We *should* be 17-4 when that game rolls around. Why not just go 17-5, then clobber the Wizards the next night. Rest them through. It's a heck of a road trip coming up.
  4. Of course not. But you'd probably see a lot of the same comments. Nobody's switching teams. Who are they going to root for? The minor league clubs in the area? Go for it. Maybe the Astros will eventually move west because they lose support in Houston -- I don't know. That's about the only choice they have. They can deal with it, or stop supporting their local MLB team. I can't say I care all that much.
  5. I took a brief look around and couldn't find anything. What I found was a quote from an anonymous "Brewers representative" which appears to have started the rumor mill:
  6. I'm pretty sure that has long been a thing of the past. Oh really? I obviously missed that.
  7. So the Tigers made themselves better in the short term, at the cost of huge long-term dollars. In short, Prince is their Soriano. Good luck Detroit. Hopefully, that vegetarian diet pays dividends 5 years from now.
  8. The thing is though, Deng shouldn't be considered "week to week" with this injury. A decision about surgery should be made quickly. We can't afford to have him struggle along for weeks, and then realize surgery is necessary. That would put him out for the playoffs.
  9. Apparently he's getting multiple opinions on it. That tells me surgery is a possibility. Hopefully it doesn't come to that :(
  10. Because at least this approach will defer the inevitable pain for a few months.
  11. It's good to know if he blows up a draft, he won't go home and beat his wife. Or his dog.
  12. so Atlanta demoted him, basically, before he left. Yep. I read an article that tried to spin it in a good way, but it's a demotion. I don't know man. I try to stay positive with this stuff, but it's hard.
  13. I know. I felt like this is the kind of hire that would happen. Doesn't make me happy about it.
  14. Well, that's what has been reported so I don't think that would be much of a surprise. But I'm holding on to the Ross hope until the last moment.
  15. I think it's pretty difficult to know for sure how much a pick was one guy's doing or another, unless someone on the inside decides to talk about the decision-making process.
  16. Dungy was criticized by many for not being a good game coach. They derided his philosophy of "do what we do" and refusal to make adjustments especially in playoff games when other teams were throwing in new wrinkles. I'm not sure I completely buy it, but it's out there. I don't remember Dungy being criticized for timeout/challenge issues like Lovie is though. The timeout and challenge issues aren't that big of a deal. The timeouts being used early hasn't cost the Bears a game. The challenges only cost the Bears the Redskins game last year, and they still ended up with a home game for a chance to go to the Superbowl. Sure it's pretty bad to watch and see early timeouts each half and bad challenges, but that's way down on the list of the things coaches need to be able to do well. We've been fortunate that the timeouts haven't cost us. Truth is that we haven't been in very many games where we needed them with 2 minutes left in a half. I like Lovie overall, but I agree that he has pretty vanilla philosophy, which, IMO, was magnified by Anegelo's vanilla appraoch to talent evaluation and retention. It resulted in some decent seasons. Improvements can be made -- and need to be made -- but Lovie's "system" could be worse. It could be Jauron's.

    SUPER BOWL 46

I'm going Giants, 34 - 30. Mostly because I don't want the Pats to win another one. And what I don't want to happen, shouldn't happen.

    SUPER BOWL 46

I predict the Packers over the Steelers, 31-25.

    SUPER BOWL 46

They had the advantage of putting it together as the season wore on. The Bears fell apart.
  20. On the AFC: they really suck. And they should do something about the whole "we'll send the Pats or Steelers once again because nobody else is worth a damn" deal.
  21. I'm shocked that we're on page 3 and already gone to Hitler.
  22. Har dee har!
  23. Oh god, that's horrible. To end it all on something pathetic like that.
  24. Man, the 9ers are playin' Awesome sack. This puppy could go into overtime!!
  25. Damn, this is a pretty good game. The other one too. I thought that might be the case :)
