  1. True. At least next year we will have Cutler again. I'll be waiting.
  2. Yeah. I did not expect this.
  3. Not that it matters, but yeah. Another in the line of soul crushing injuries for the 2011 Bears. What a brick-wall splat of a year this was. Yikes.
  4. Well I guess this bit me in the ass, didn't it? But 13-1 is still pretty damn good. And if they were gonna lay an egg I'd rather it be now than in the playoffs. It seemed an obvious thing to say. Perhaps. But 19-0 was a pipe dream. It's unnecessary pressure to put on a ballclub, especially with the dilemma of resting players that always comes up. Then you throw the Jennings & Bulaga injuries into the mix -- the pressure mounts to start resting more guys. Are there still scenarios left where the Packers wouldn't be the #1 seed?

  6. That's just idiotic. He slipped on the crappy Soldier Field turf. Blame the park district if you're going to be ridiculous about it. Not that I'm excusing some of Knox's dumb plays, but to blame him for the way the season turned out is just way off base. Knox trips in domes, he trips on natural grass and he just plain sucks as a #2 WR as does Hester. Hes a situational receiver in my mind as a #3 or #4. He giveth. And he taketh away.
  7. Yep there's more than one WGN feed, and it does seem like the Hawks are on the local-only one a lot.
  8. Never a good idea to circle back, right into the defender Tim.
  9. With Jennings hurt last week and Bulaga this week, I wonder if the Pack will start resting players more now.
  10. I'm hoping for draft position now. That's pretty much it. If any young player can prove he holds promise for the future, I'd be interested in finding that out. Beyond that, this season has cratered. Total tankage. On to the Blackhawks and Bulls.
  11. It's just so weird how the blackout rules work. I'm exactly the opposite. I get no Bulls or Cubs games unless I subscribe. But Blackhawks? I get those without Center Ice. Except the Chicago-local only ones.
  12. Most good NFL teams are extremely dependent on their QB and when he goes down they usually suck. The Packers, Patriots, Saints, Falcons, Cowboys, Giants, Steelers, etc. would all be having a Bears like run right now if they lost Rodgers, Brady, Brees, Ryan, Romo, Manning, Big Ben for the season. When Brady went down in the first game for the rest of the season the PAts went 11-5. But the Bears don't have the best coach in the history of sports. I think the Steelers would hold together some level of competitiveness without Big Ben, too. Not playoff level, but losing every single game wouldn't happen.
  13. The thing that really sucks is we have to continue to play games. There is no point to playing more games.
  14. I'm still watching, and I'm not sure why
  15. Normally I'm opposed to capital punishment but in the case of people like joe paterno I'm willing to make an exception. What Paterno has done over the entire course of this thing has been pretty awful, I grant you that. However, it seems like a lot of people (not necessarily talking about NSBB) are more mad at Paterno than Sandusky. Yes, Paterno was an awful, horrible piece of crap for not doing anything and allowing it to continue, but Sandusky was the guy actually doing it. ....because Sandusky stands to get what he deserves, while Paterno is more in line to get off without real punishment. That irks people. I know it irks me.
  16. Damn. I've been totally blowing off hockey due to other things. I'm going to have to start watching this team again :)
  17. Angelo's been just good enough to hang around, with a franchise that doesn't pull the trigger quickly on changes, and a team that has tasted just enough success to make it highly unlikely ownership will go fish. Nobody's talking about this if Cutler doesn't bust up his hand. We're sailing to another playoff berth, and people are talking about what a great job the coaching staff has done turning lemons into lemonade on the OLine, Cutler developing into a leader, yada yada. That said, personally I would like to see what a different GM could do with this franchise. I'd like to see a fresh face around here, maybe even some youthful exuberance.
  18. I don't get how it could get any worse, for us. We just witnessed a tanking on an Epic level. Do you really care if the Seahawks put a bullet in our brain after we're already dead?
  19. Good picture, thanks for posting!
  20. Nobody's really arguing that Angelo has had his share of disappointments (at least, it doesn't look like it). But you aren't stating your case very well. Forte is not only blue chip, but he's a blue chip player that very few other than Angelo (and his team) identified.
  21. Grooooooaaaaaaaaan I think that's funny though. Maybe someone can tape his next sermon.
  22. Wow, the negative vibes. That's horrifying.
  23. I think the Bears beat Oakland easily with Cutler. He's got 2 more years on his deal at a very favorable price. There's probably no need to act fast, but I would strongly suggest they get a deal done by midseason next year. If there's any silver lining to this, it's the fact that any remaining doubts about Cutler's value to this team have been removed. They'll get a deal done. I would bet there are tremendous doubts from the naysayers about a) his durability, b) his desire to play/win, c) his worthiness for a big franchise QB contract. Hell, there were Peyton Manning doubters until well after he won a SB. People will comment about how Cutler has finished back to back seasons injured. I'm sure you're right, although after seeing the effects of him out of the lineup, that kind of talk seems more like digging for anything negative to say about an obviously valuable player. Especially considering we don't have alternatives on the roster, and we've got a long history of failing to acquire a good QB.
  24. Here's a different photo of it: http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-_dm3f2ah69Y/Ttj53yx7A-I/AAAAAAAABZk/N5gDjfpdfuE/s1600/Cubs_Holiday_Tree.jpg Does anyone have one of the tree lit up? That would be kind of cool to see.
