  1. It's used with other QB's...those with consistency issues. Just a couple examples: http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1338843-new-york-giants-comparing-good-eli-to-bad-eli-vs-tampa-bay http://www.dallasnews.com/sports/columnists/tim-cowlishaw/20121028-cowlishaw-too-much-bad-tony-means-another-heartbreaking-loss.ece It started with Grossman, right?
  2. True. Didn't it used to be 28 teams w/ 12 though?
  3. Aaaaand being in St. Louis, FOX will be showing the Rams-Jags game. Christ. And you can't even get lucky by it not being a sell out because they just won't show anything in that slot. Being in an NFL city blows when the team sucks and you really don't care about it. The only getting 2 games a week thing totally sucks too. I'm loving my Sunday ticket so far. Not looking forward to having to pay for it next year though. Jags have a shot!!
  4. 10-6 teams sometimes miss the playoffs under the current system, though. I'm for it. I don't have that big a concern over 9-7 teams making it. It's already happening anyway. That 4th preseason game is pretty much a lost weekend -- I'd rather have another weekend of meaningful football, even if it does open the door to a few more mediocre teams getting into the postseason.
  5. I'm sure the Bears will gain a little bit from being at home, but yeah -- it won't be the same level of advantage. Nice to play at home after 2 weeks on the road, though.
  6. Yeah, Stafford was held under 300 yards. CJ had just 4 catches for 44 yards. Bears had more total yards on offense than the Lions. If I knew that would be the case coming in, I would have said the Bears win. But that 2nd quarter. Catastrophe. 27 points given up in a single quarter. Unthinkable.
  7. It's basically, "hey these play-in games are pretty exciting. Let's make them happen every year!" It's not a bad idea at all.
  8. I didn't listen to much of it. I turned on 670 long enough to hear the obligatory caller with the typical "WE'LL NEVER WITH JAY CUTLER!!!11" rant. Then I turned on some music.
  9. Jake Locker is interesting, now.
  10. You're done. No more going to games for UMFan.
  11. Hmmm... SEA/HOU -- first tie of the season?
  12. SHOCKER. When the turnover story is reversed, so is the scoreboard.
  13. Classic gut check. You're not that good. What are you going to do about that.
  14. No 3rd down conversions ALL DAY.
  15. It HAS been working, enough. The challenge is, they must work into the offense longer throws to keep the whole thing honest. And in the meantime the defense needs to continue to force turnovers to cover for the fact that they give up a lot of yards. It's actually a pretty tough formula, over the long haul.
  16. Jay Cutler has had a terrible day today. No question.
  17. Well folks, you can't win 'em all. Not our day today.
  18. There was no viable penalty on Long. That's YET ANOTHER crap call. Then Jay misses a wide open receiver for a first down. I think I need some booze. This is a crap show.
  19. They haven't gotten gashed up the middle like this in other games this year, getting killed running up the middle. I'll agree with you, although I felt like the middle was suspect in the other games. To me, I'm wondering how good this Bears team can be if it doesn't get the turnovers in their favor. Are they really a team that can win consistently if the other team protects the football? That's an open question.
  20. If you look at the difference between this game and the other 3, the most obvious thing is: no big turnovers in the Bears favor.
  21. Yeah, I don't understand that one. His hands are all over Jeffrey, and he never looked back at the ball. By the rulebook, that's PI. Once again, we see in the NFL the rules just optionally applied according to whims.
  22. GREAT CATCH. That's more like it. Need the deep game to open up everything else.
  23. Scared do throw it downfield/nobody is open. that looked designed to me. didnt look anywhere else It was. That's a bad play call. Good defensive stop though. I'd like to see that continue, win or lose today. Good pressure on that pass play, resulting in an incompletion. Good stuff of Bush inside.
  24. Need to go deeper down the field. Can't say it enough.
  25. A non-scoring drive to open the 2nd half would make me unhappy.
