  1. I know. I keep telling myself it was the Browns and Jags, hoping that accounts for it. Still, if we are talking about a coach having enough of a positive effect to bring a bad defense to average, then those stats don't look promising. Because he had bad defenses then, too -- and couldn't get them up.
  2. I think part of the defensive issues are that NFL teams often draft based more on what the player can become and not what he currently is. They focus more on size and athleticism and not so much can they tackle, read plays, or take good angles. I probably would do the exact same thing and hope that coaching will improve them. And the problem with that philosophy is that draft picks no longer sit 2nd or 3rd in the depth chart while they improve in practice. They are expected to start right away. Even if they aren't expected to start, they'll likely see the field anyway because of injuries. And rotations/alignments/etc.
  3. Better hope he remembers what he did in 2011. Because outside of that, his defenses in yards/gm: 2008: 26th 2009: 23rd 2010: 28th 2011: 6th 2012: 30th 2013: 30th He's had 1 good year out of 6 as a DC.
  4. I love how he speculates about his own motivations from the third prison, kind of like someone who's had a psychotic episode.
  5. I've seen some of the worst defense of my life this year. Not just the Bears - league wide. Rule changes don't fully explain it either.
  6. 60 minutes tonight: hear the truth about ARoid from the source. Should be fun.
  7. Bah, sucks ending the weekend with a crappy game
  8. I don't buy the injury excuse. The fall was just too massive. Injuries cannot explain it all. The Bears are obviously saying that the position coaches didn't do enough to get the replacements ready. I'm not in a position to fully disagree with that analysis, but I suspect Tucker's not a great DC, and he will continue to have lackluster results regardless of whether he has a healthy squad. I hope I'm wrong.
  9. So they decided to blame the position coaches. We'll see. Strong suspicion 2014 will be Tucker's last as DC of the Bears. Not a fan.
  10. So, 9ers/Seahawks The douche vs the cheater, pt 3
  11. Cam is not making decisions quickly enough
  12. There must be a shortage of optometrists in Carolina
  13. Wow, that was damn good from the Colts
  14. Feels like this team is losing steam right now. Not saying it means anything in terms of the season, but at the moment they aren't as impressive as I'm used to.
  15. I don't think there's a miracle Colts comeback tonight.
  16. Yes - I want to either win Tanaka, or feel that the team who did win him drastically overpaid.
  17. 1 pm today. 2:40 pm today. For me, that would earn an unfollow.
  18. Hearing stuff like this makes me want to find Larry Himes and kick him in the balls. He did get us Sosa I want to thank you all for bringing up such wonderful memories.
  19. Haiku, even. Wow.
  20. Not sure how much it's been discussed here, but Emery's comments about Melton and rehab make it seem like he's not very impressed with his commitment & progress on coming back from injury. Based on that, I do think Wootton & Ratliff are much more likely to return, and bye bye Henry.
  21. C'mon now Charles, out with it.
  22. Watch his first steps as Cubs manager Confirm he's not in a wheelchair anymore. Most teams follow the rehab of their top players. We'll follow the rehab of our manager.
  23. I think I'll wait for the combine & such before having a strong opinion, but with Hageman showing up on more than one mock as the Bears' pick, I'm having a hard time believing he would be considered a reach. I still think Nix's knee is a risk that Emery will not take. We will see.
  24. I'd watch every show if it was the Bears -- Cutler, Martellus, BMarsh, Tillman if he stays. There are enough personalities on the Bears to make it interesting, beyond just watching because it's my favorite team. I'm sure there would be a few pleasant surprises too. Possibly Kyle Long...
  25. Yeah, I thought I had heard the meetings would be on the west coast. It's easier for him to do it that way.
