  1. Hehe. Sorry OleMiss but that was terrible
  2. Ok. One good game then yanked after one bad one. Seems like a pretty quick hook why not just start the season with him then.
  3. They're playing the Jags and their D was presumed to be pretty decent - hard to tell though. Cousins may fit Gruden's system better than RG3, I'm not ready to right Griffin off as terrible yet. It's a brutal unforgiving sport though. Injuries will kill a career even if they are flukes or whatever else. He's already been through a nearly catastrophic one, we'll see what this one turns out to be.
  4. Looks like Buffalo isn't entirely terrible.
  5. Geez raw stop making me read that much.
  6. Because he dropped it. I don't understand why you'd need sound to see the ball come out.
  7. I normally try to avoid drinking on work nights but I'm guessing there's no way I can avoid it tomorrow. :| I'm committed to no-alcohol Sundays, so I'm in trouble tonight. All my insane babbling on here will be sober. I just can't believe it's week 2 and we are activating practice squad WRs. Holy [expletive] crap.
  8. Nat'l TV beat down. I'm going to be watching it
  9. Yeah, but how effective
  10. Not sure why I missed this, but I did. Anyway, I find it disturbing that you remember that whole thing.
  11. They've been making it up as they go along, for several years now. I'm not sure who to blame: incompetent refs, or incomprehensible rules, or what. Probably a little of both. But the result is you see flags and just cringe -- then many times you see the replay and it's just stupid. And I'll say that about calls that go in the Bears favor, all day long. Plus it makes the games longer and takes the wind out of exciting parts. We can all just go on & on. Worst drag on football in a generation.
  12. I watched that live yesterday and it was weird. I'm sure there was an advisor there who was not happy, he's still heavily involved with the League as he mentioned his close relationship with Goodell. I definitely think they're covering it up by playing the dumb card. Judging by the amount of time non-sports news outlets are dedicating to this thing, I'd say the dumb card isn't working. And the obvious league tampering is really starting to anger the wrong people. The NFL better hope another bombing or other disaster occurs to take focus off this, if they want it to go away.
  13. I think the line can shut down Gore. It's Kaepernick that we will probably have trouble with out of the pocket. Unless Tucker changes his defensive scheme to include LB's actually do something on defense. If they shut down Gore and Hyde, it'll be because they commit resources to the middle. So yeah Kaepernick will kill them on the outside because of that. They can also do a number of others things to take advantage of that, as you know.
  14. Complaining about yet another hyperbolic sports article is like complaining about clouds in the sky. Yeah people continue to do it, but it's pointless nonetheless.
  15. Haha, yeah that's pretty awesome. Conte's like, whoa that looks horrible I better bail.
  16. Hah, it just got pulled. http://ftw.usatoday.com/2014/09/rihanna-cbs-thursday-night-football Goodell interview instead. Looks like Rihanna will be back though.
  17. 4-12 is much better than 6-10.
  18. The bloom came off Reid's rose pretty quick after that Titans loss, didn't it.
  19. posts like these mystify me "i hate this guy, i won't specify why, so reward him with clicks!" Sometimes venting is worth the additional 40 cents Clay Travis might make off a column. The good news is most of us know Clay Travis is a jackass and therefore won't click on it anyway. I'd still like a little detail on why the guy is "just the [expletive] worst." There are lots of jackasses writing articles out there.
  20. I'm sure he will. I didn't think that I said he wouldn't. All I'm trying to say is that I could see players beginning to question him a little quicker than usual. Could even lead to him being replaced sooner than one would originally think. You said barring a complete collapse... I think that's on the table right now. Detroit looked good. Vikings looked good - better than I thought. GB will put it together in all likelihood. Beyond that it's SF, CAR, ATL, NE, NO. All of those could be losses. Let's say they go 2-4 in division, with another 5 losses outside. 7-9 in his second season isn't going to satisfy many people. It's a game worse than year 1. Another game like BUF and we're talking 6-10. What do you think anyway? I'm just curious. IIRC you were one who said Trestman might have more trouble if the team struggled.
  21. They just lost to Buffalo, whom no on even remembers the last time they were good, and they're about to get humiliated on national TV I just think its an interesting reaction. Most of these guys give you the ol' "Its only one game of 16" line. These guys are acting like they will get canned if it doesn't turn around quickly. In Tucker's case that's probably true. Definitely Tucker. But also consider Trestman. His first year missed the playoffs. Now there's significant adversity on the horizon. I'll go back to what some of us said when he was hired. There's no history of NFL coaching to fall back on. His success was in doing exactly what he's good at now: QB development. After that, what is there to say he's going to succeed at all the other things necessary to have success in the NFL as a HC? Not much. It's easy to see scenarios where people begin to lose confidence in him - and fairly quickly too. He turned a bad offense into one of the league's best in one season. The first move would be to replace Tucker if the defense doesn't do something. They spent almost all of their free agency money and the draft on defense. Never said they wouldn't, but thanks for commenting

  23. I think there are a few teams that would strongly consider signing him following a cooling off period, and assuming no indefinite suspension. Pulled up his metrics because I haven't followed him in detail. On the right side of 30. Probably still will be after a cooling off period. Big time dropoff in productivity last year though. Hard to say if that was him or blocking -- again I'm not following the Ravens very much. You're most likely right, given the right price.
  24. Briggs is killing me. If you don't want to be a quality player anymore, please just leave. Go run your restaurant. That's how I feel about him now and it's a shame.
  25. He needs to step down. It's a [expletive] shame TMZ is more legit than ESPN when it comes to reporting this. The NFL and ESPN are going to do their best to sweep this under the rug quickly. And unfortunately, they'll probably succeed. Question for Gooney: I'd ask that question in the exact opposite way? Why WOULDN'T the casino give the NFL that tape? That's not the opposite way, but a completely different question. I'm not asking why they would or would not, but rather why they would be obligated to respond to a request from a completely unrelated private institution? That's a matter for the police. The police had and have the tapes and the NFL would have and should have gone through them if they wanted to see them. They probably didn't want to see them, or at least, they didn't want actual NFL officials seeing them. So they had some private security types take a look and report back and can now still say that NFL personnel did not see the tapes. Almost as bad to operate that way -- it's willful ignorance. Manufactured deniability. I guess that's the way Goodell plays things now. It's time for him to resign.
