  1. Wtf? Why in the hell would they want to win today? They're the owners, they don't care that much about draft stock and don't want to fire anyone. Or maybe they just want to see their top pick do well regardless
  2. I thought video review was supposed to be conclusive before they overturn a call
  3. I'm seeing plenty of pressure out there. I'd rather just run the castrated Trestman O today.
  4. I take solace in the fact that this is a noon game. Let's just get this over with.
  5. Yes, at least avoid that weird zone where the guy above inherits the guy below him for a year or two. Or worse, the guy above gets to repeat his failure once again
  6. It's starting to become appointment TV again.
  7. I guess there's a bit to like, I'm just not as enamored with any coach who's been gone from coaching so long (with Gruden, Cowher, etc). Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Has a coach ever spent say 5 years away and then returned to win consistently? Not that it couldn't happen but I get a visual of Joe Gibbs. And it makes me think I'd rather try something other than dusting someone off the shelf. I guess Pete Carroll. Still doesn't change my mind. And he stayed in coaching.
  8. I'd like them to lose and Cutler stay healthy. It would be nice if he stays INT-free so I hear less jughead analysis this offseason
  9. That's your takeaway? That Fales needs a start? The guy has an upside of a potential backup. He does not need to start. This isn't September baseball. Giving him a look isn't going to help anything. The Bears have 16 games and Jay Cutler should start every one of them. Like Brad Biggs said this morning, did you see anything in the preseason that made you say "Oh, I'd like to see more of that!" ? The guy spent nearly the entire season running pre-scripted plays of other teams offenses on the practice squad. Fales will get his opportunities to show what he can do in the preseason. I still don't believe he will be anything more than what he is right now.
  10. I hope the McCaskey's don't learn the wrong lesson from this. They seem to default to conservativism, not in their nature to make bold risky decisions. Two of those decisions, the Cutler trade and the Smith firing, have not paid dividends for the team. Both were absolutely the correct move to make, and the team should be applauded for it. Don't feel the need to go back to "safe" hires! Continue to be dynamic, just be smarter about it! Most of us thought we wanted to go in the other direction, away from Lovie's style. It just should have been Arians instead of Trestman, that's all. A blown hire, not much else. Emery got too cute again. And it cost him.
  11. Why didn't Trestman announce the change during his P.C? Unless the call to bench Cutler came straight from the top?? To avoid answering questions about it. Plus, you don't announce changes at PC, you announce it to the team and have a press conference to discuss it after the players know. Once the players know, the media knows anyway. Right, he should have told the team and then mentioned it to the press. This is like rats escaping a sinking ship, everyone looking to cover their own ass In Chicago, when we meltdown it's no joke.
  12. I think his body's shot from taking a billion hits and being diabetic and it's only downhill from here. He's 31. And every indication that he's aggressively managing his blood sugar levels. Unless you can provide a source for that I'm taking it as wild speculation.
  13. I dont know how this position can be defensed. Yeah, I don't agree with that either. Our best bet is to stick with Cutler and hope to get lucky before he leaves, or restock the rest of the team to compensate for QB mediocrity.
  14. But even then, there was no guarantee Rodgers was going to turn into anything. He sat on the bench for 3 years while Favre rapidly deteriorated before he got his shot. Tom Brady was a 6th round pick, and had to wait for Bledsoe to get hurt before he was forced into action. For every Rodgers there's 10 Grossmans out there who get picked in the first round and crap out. I might be wrong but I don't think there is any talent evaluator out there that is significantly better than the others at recognizing franchise QB talent beyond the obvious guys which are few and far between and almost always number 1 picks. Yes, and then when it doesn't happen you build Seahawks, or Ravens, or Giants, even Pittsburgh style teams. The last 3 SB winners didn't have a Rodgers or Brady or Peyton. Before that, Packers and Saints did have a top QB. Pittsburgh I would argue didn't. It's so much easier to be consistently good with one of those guys. But if you acknowledge that it's a crapshoot to get one, than you must also acknowledge and embrace the idea of building a champion without one.
  15. It'll probably be check down city, boring-as-hell unimaginative Shoopville. Clausen may survive but at the cost of a neutered offense. The perfect end to a terrible HC hire. That's how I hope it goes down. Nobody gets hurt, but everybody understands how much of a failure Trestman is.
  16. Well Trestman also said it's his fault for not developing Cutler. Crazy, but I actually miss Lovie now. 10-6 aint bad! That's a hollow statement from Trestman though. Actions speak much louder than that.
  17. Well, I guess we now know who Trestman blames for his failure.
  18. I lol'd though. Is that real?
  19. They're pretty good at hockey They help me psychologically too -- a nice bonus.
  20. I know they need to root for their team but man the Wild announcers are crybabies
  21. It's difficult to think of one. I guess Jay getting benched at halftime. Would no longer surprise me, but it would cause my face to hit my hands one last time.
  22. I was wishing and expecting better but definitely had it in my mind that disaster was potentially on the horizon. Lots of volatile players and a coach that nobody respects made me think things would go really well, or if they went bad, it would be horrible. I remember thinking Trestman would have trouble recovering if things go bad. But that was when he was hired. I still had hopes for this season. My main fear heading into this year was Tucker. I don't think I was alone on that.
  23. Before this mess really got bad... I thought only Tucker and Joey D were gone. Now, I think most of the staff is gone at this point. Emery is likely safe as is Phillips (unfort.) Yeah, which means he gets another HC pick. Which means more than likely he's here for another 3. Gross.
