  1. See here's what I don't like about this. Everybody pressured Nagy into playing Fields. Nagy told everyone he wasn't ready. But clearly the pressure from outside and above influenced his decision to start Fields. You can't now say he should sit Fields because he's not ready. Will a bad coach crush him more than getting benched for poor performance after 5 games? Essentially, we made our bed and now we have to lie in it. It’s a tough call no doubt. But Dalton‘s injury also influenced this decision. I think you can sit Fields back down and have it not be for poor performance in the sense that the organization feels he’s not good enough. I think it can be done in a way that is less damaging to his future than continuing to send him out there right now.
  2. We should sit him if Dalton is healthy. I don’t think we should even be put in this position of debating whether he’s good or bad. Fields is not ready, that is all. It doesn’t mean anything. What does mean something is a bad head coach trotting him out there with a substandard line. That’ll crush him.
  3. It'll be another 10 years, 4 coaches and two GMs of this. If he fails, I will always believe he could have been good but for an inept organization. I’ll never accept he was destined to fail regardless or organization.
  4. I honestly don’t know why, but no some teams with elite passing offenses somehow manage to limit that kind of tipped ball stuff. You’d think pure luck alone would make it happen more.
  5. Fields should see fewer blitzes maybe that’s good?
  6. I didn’t expect to win here but I was hoping to at least compete for a little while. This is still below expectations.
  7. Failure begets failure and I fear if he continues in these types of games we may never know if he could be good and then it will be too late.
  8. Fun 10 minutes of football.
  9. Just run the damn ball! Nope, this is the game to pass. Oh yeah working out great!
  10. They will blitz all game.
  11. That sack was not on him. He barely got to his drop before he was sacked I didn’t say it was his fault, he just seems to fumble so easily Just run the damn ball!
  12. I think it’s great that Illinois found a way to make history even though they aren’t a good program. Maybe a sign they’ll be on the upswing.
  13. Wow! Hah
  14. OK what’s the record for overtimes?
  15. 6th OT LOL. This is fun as hell.
  16. Penn State slept through the entire game and now needs OT to beat Illinois.
  17. Now that I look at it again, the upcoming schedule doesn’t look quite so scary. Both the Steelers and the 49ers look much more beatable than I would’ve said at the beginning of the year. Who knows? Things looked hopeless after the Cleveland game, then we beat LV and it was a little better. We didn’t get blown out yesterday…
  18. I still remember, a long long time ago, watching a Cubs / Brewers game and some typical idiot Bear fan gets in a shouting match with a Brewer fan. At the time Rodgers had just been drafted and this guy goes "Rodgers? That's your QB now! Hahah!" ...I'll wait for the Jordan Love era to begin before I make any judgements about him. But I agree, one of the most maddening things about the Packers is how many mediocre players they make look really good. It's a tribute to them, but I'll admit to jealousy over that. And I do hope it comes to an end when Rodgers is gone. When Rodgers hasn't been able to play, the true mediocrity of the Packers has been revealed. So we'll see. I'm not saying it couldn't happen and it would just the Bears luck if it did but, back to back to back franchise/HOF QB's? How horsefeathering lucky can you get? Hopefully they go the way of the 49ers, who started missing on QB (generally) after Steve Young.
  19. Great post. The bottom line has always been simple and still the Bears just can’t get their arms around it: The offense isn’t good enough. Except for 2018 - they need to score more points. That’s it. It’s not complicated. It’s the NFL in 2021, you can’t expect to be a winning football team if you aren’t putting up 20+ consistently (and occasionally 30 or 40). There will never be an 85 Bears D or a Ravens 2001 D or even a 2006 Bears D type super bowl again. Gotta roll with the times. Along those lines the best outcome for this season - Fields continues to play and gets valuable experience while the Bears lose enough games to get Nagy and Pace replaced. Because Nagy doesn't get it, there's got to be someone out there who does and would take off with Fields as his QB thereby making the NFC Central theirs. I know its currently pretty grim but, the day is near when the Bears are going to have the best QB in the division and Packers, Lions and Vikings will be in QB waste land and its going to be oh so great. Jones, that no name Packer TE, and any other Packers who look like Pro-Bowlers may not look so with Jordan Love as their QB.- I still remember, a long long time ago, watching a Cubs / Brewers game and some typical idiot Bear fan gets in a shouting match with a Brewer fan. NFL Week 6

I could watch the Pats lose like that every week for the rest of my life and it would never get old.
  21. Sure there are some plays and schemes he’s more comfortable with and it’s not like it’s all been bad at all. But twice today he took his team out of FG range by taking a sack on 3rd down. That can’t happen, it needs to be thrown away but he waited too long and/or tried to make a rush that wasn’t there. On one of them he tried to run to the edge like he probably successfully did 100 times in college but the defense was just too fast for him. I don’t know if that’s processing or lack of situational awareness but it’s a problem he needs to fix. But at the same time I think there is a lot of adjustment for him right now and he will only figure it out by playing more There’s just a lot more happening out there than Fields. For example, it’s a patchwork line that provides a clean pocket infrequently compared to other teams. It’s not an exceptional receiving corps. Surprisingly effective running game though. I don’t think we really disagree here. Let’s see what we’re looking at after a few more games. It’s a tough stretch. There’s a good opportunity to see if he grows up a little against solid competition.
  22. I saw more than one play where Fields may have looked like he didn’t process fast, but the broadcast pulled back and showed there were no options at all. In those cases he processed just fine, he just saw that he was fucked so he tried to make something out of nothing. On the second TD, he looked left and saw the coverage, looked back right and found the TD. He processed just fine there. I’m not saying he can or can’t process fast. My point is after three starts it’s too early to say Fields can’t process fast. It’s way too early to come to a conclusion about that.
  23. Alright. That’s a nice drive. Love it.
  24. COME ON!!
