    A decent sized winning or losing streak would significantly alter those numbers though. The best thing to say right now is that it's still early. The Crew had a great month. Maybe they'll have more great months, and maybe they won't. They don't have to have any great months from here on out, they could play .500 from here on out and equal the win total of what I expected to win or come close to winning this division. They've set themselves up nicely in a bland division, unlike Cincy of last year, they have the talent to con't to win. You're sort of missing the point. For the sake of argument, let's say they have a 9-18 month of May. Now what kind of baseball do they have to play to get to 90 wins? Significantly over .500 So one bad month and suddenly they've got to play much better than what your April numbers say. It's early yet. April is April.

    Just keep retracting teams until we win the World Series. Then re-instate them.

    It wouldn't do any good. There was a zip code list posted before, and it was completely inaccurate. I can't tell you the frustration of sitting on the phone trying to figure out why my zip wasn't on the list but I was still being blacked out; the operator insisting I wasn't blacked out when I was. Christ, it was like taking a sledgehammer to your head. Don't waste your time and brain cells.

    Well, we have gone from what? 7-13 to 12-14? I'll give 'em some credit for a nice little spike here end April/early May. Consistency over the long term though. Won't matter if we come back and drop 2, 3 games right away.

    Laughably easy. Jack Wilson. Even when figuring in that Wilson is owed $14 million through 2009? At least the Cubs can cut Izturis. That's what? Less than $5mil/yr? We're paying mid-range starters 7-10mil/yr as it is. No, I meant $14 million over 2008 and 2009, though I certainly wasn't clear about it. He's making $20 million over 2007, 2008, and 2009. Yeah, that's certainly worse. Get Pitt to pick up a couple mil each year :)

    And according to Gameday it was a pretty good pitch to hit. When the bases are loaded(especially after a pitcher just forced someone in), looking for the first pitch is a very common and sound approach. Yeah, I understand the frustration but when a guy can't get anything over the plate sometimes he'll just throw a meatball up there on the first pitch to try and get strike 1. It's a valid approach, IMO. Barrett's just really off right now.

    I find it interesting he's using Dempster in extended closer outings like this. Do you think it's because he used to be a starter, so Lou figures he can lean on him a bit more than a "normal" closer?
