  1. Huh...that's very different than what the Trib wrote today. (About Orton anyway) maybe that was just sunday then. they really didnt have the qb's throwing deep down field anyways. orton made a few bad passes, maybe it seemed like he threw more than he did. but griese did look bad. and he wouldnt throw anything more than a five yard pass. Last year around this time Orton couldn't hit a back in the flat. The improvement from him is noticeable, although I wouldn't want to take it too far. He's still far outclassed by Grossman IMO.
  2. Yeah Brian's been struggling early on. But I remember he did this last year too. I'm really not that worried about a 10-year vet based on the first couple days of training camp.
  3. http://boards.chicagobears.com/forums/thread/536755.aspx Has Garret Wolfe practiced yet? I thought he was being held out because of a minor injury? He practiced Friday, some Saturday morn. He was shagging punts with Devin, and I think they put him in with the 3rd team for a few practice plays. He strained his hammy Saturday morning in the mini practice.
  4. Would also likely be the death knell of Murton in Chicago, correct?
  5. Exactly. Can I have the right to say "I told you so" if nothing happens? I'll give you the right to call me an idiot if a trade happens. Not really. I'm not the one stating that anything is (or isn't) going to happen. Obviously, the more likely outcome is that nothing happens. Just joking around. Pretty dead for trade day 8-)
  6. I turned it off after Murph said Murton is just a AAA player and should be sent back down because he's 0-4 since being recalled. LOL...it was Murph that started the whole "Murton for certain" thing... Really? Sometimes it's hard for me to focus on Murph's actual content -- All I hear is "Brown's Chicken, the Chicago Way!"
  7. Exactly. Can I have the right to say "I told you so" if nothing happens? I'll give you the right to call me an idiot if a trade happens.
  8. Well yeah, that's what I was thinking too. Plus Boston is a great, GREAT baseball town, despite how I hate ESPN's biased coverage.
  9. True. +2 I hope he waives the no-trade. Does he have something personal against Boston? I'd play in beantown in a second, but uh, nobody's asking
  10. I'd be floored if the Cubs brought him back. Partly in a good way because I would like to see Sosa end his days as a Cub. But also partly in a bad way, because I do believe Murton is rotting away and I would really like to know if he is a long term answer or not for this ballclub. And the only way to find out is to play the guy.
  11. If he ain't comin' here, then as long as he ain't goin' to the Crew. That is all.
  12. I guess ultimately if Gagne's still pitching well I wouldn't mind a BP of Wood, Gagne, Marmol, and Dempster + riff raff That would rock. Not saying I think it will happen because it seems like it won't. But I wouldn't be throwing furniture or anything if it did.
  13. You should probably read the thread then. The one thing posters on this board should understand is that regardless of differing opinions, fact- and stat-based logic will always triumph over Joe Morgan style logic. But Joe Morgan style logic is so much more fun. Joe Carter logic is day-long entertainment.
  14. It's certainly better than the "I hate Sosa and can't handle that others don't agree with me" board.
  15. You can't be serious. This argument is absurd. Do you think that "loser" Sammy Sosa in his prime (1998-2002) would not help this team? If you don't, I'm not sure what to say. How many teams did he help in that period? How many times was LOSER Sammy in the playoffs? More times than those losers Santo, Williams, Banks, Jenkins. Just as many times as that hack Sandberg. But yeah, keep the logic train rolling. And that's not open for debate.
  16. Teixeira doesn't count? One thing to remember is that Hendry has shown an ability to get it done at the 11th hour. Nomar and Lawton were both right at the deadline. Unfortunately neither of those helped us. Hopefully Tex doesn't have much of an impact for the Braves either. I suspect he will though.
  17. Just doing Bears talk? My dear EJ, the Bears are all that matters in this world.
  18. Ack, the Crew showed they'll toss prospects out like peanuts to acquire a reliever. This could mean the Crew are moving to the forefront.
  19. Linkege That's from first thing this morning though. Didn't Bruce post somewhere on here that he didn't see any trades happening, but it was subject to change b/c you never know? Oh, I realize that. Just passing it along cause I didn't see it posted. Those are strong words from Hendry. If he suddenly went out and got, say, Griffey, it would make these words lies. Not that Hendry is above that, but still. I think it's time to start accepting not much will happen. Maybe Church, but how many midline outfielders are we going to stockpile and still leave Murton on the bench for little or no reason?
  20. I agree. Chris Leak is in camp right? Has anyone heard anything about how he looks? chris leak joins craig krenzel in the "how did he win a national championship? his team must have had an unstoppable defense" category. for a guy that came out of the womb trhrowing a football, he's just not good at it. I think I said it earlier, but I just didn't realize how short Leak is. He looks a tad shorter than Grossman. They really aren't giving him many reps in practice, but I was suprised how long his throwing motion is in the drills I watched him. Anyway, with Orton stepping up his game Leak will probably be released fairly soon, unless something radically changes. As for Griese's performance, he did the same thing last year. But last year, Orton was looking real bad to me and this year it's a bit different, so I don't know what's going to happen there. i don't think superior arm strength and pass accuracy have been questioned, just his decision-making and pocket awareness. i'm interested in seeing him improve greatly in these 2 areas. there's no doubt that he has a much better arm and quicker release than either of his backups, that's not really news to me. rex just needs to improve his approach with the ball down in his hands, he's truly a man among boys in the actual passing category. Here's hoping he thrives. He's definitely been through the ringer of pressure last year, so that's some experience lots of other QBs will never even know. To be in a Super Bowl with the whole world taking shots at you, and coming through it looking good in camp the next year has got to add something to Rex in the maturity department.
  21. Prediction: in about 4 hours this will have to be renamed the "Official Disappointment" thread.
