  1. LOL, wasn't that drunk color guy Sutcliffe?
  2. I like DeRo at second too, but when he isn't playing second and giving Fontenot's recent performance I'd start Cedeno at second, not short. Theriot has proven he can handle short. ....and Cedeno has proven he's brutal @ 2B.
  3. I just don't think the Brewers will continue to fall apart. They'll get it together at some point, to some degree. I put our chances at 50/50 right now.
  4. Yeah, my read on this is we are going to do nothing, maybe add a minor piece but nothing big. If it happens great, but I do think at this point we are beginning to see the effects of having the sale of the ballclub looming on the horizon.
  5. I agree. Chris Leak is in camp right? Has anyone heard anything about how he looks? chris leak joins craig krenzel in the "how did he win a national championship? his team must have had an unstoppable defense" category. for a guy that came out of the womb trhrowing a football, he's just not good at it. I think I said it earlier, but I just didn't realize how short Leak is. He looks a tad shorter than Grossman. They really aren't giving him many reps in practice, but I was suprised how long his throwing motion is in the drills I watched him. Anyway, with Orton stepping up his game Leak will probably be released fairly soon, unless something radically changes. As for Griese's performance, he did the same thing last year. But last year, Orton was looking real bad to me and this year it's a bit different, so I don't know what's going to happen there.
  6. It's Marquis day. Everyone huddle into the bomb shelter.
  7. Tillman's a tall CB, but in fairness, in that picture he is standing next to the Bears designated horn-blower, who goes about 5'2"
  8. Bradley has looked very good to me. He seems to be moving very well, and I didn't see him do anything but catch what was thrown his way. And here are some more pics. Now I'm going to bed 8-) http://i198.photobucket.com/albums/aa250/soulschizm/AlexBrown1size.jpg http://i198.photobucket.com/albums/aa250/soulschizm/APete1size-1.jpg http://i198.photobucket.com/albums/aa250/soulschizm/Sheed1size.jpg http://i198.photobucket.com/albums/aa250/soulschizm/Brian1size.jpg http://i198.photobucket.com/albums/aa250/soulschizm/Benson1size.jpg http://i198.photobucket.com/albums/aa250/soulschizm/Offense1midsize.jpg
  9. I don't know whether to laugh or cry. I like the one with the guy holding the sign "I'm Happy." Ahhhh, good times.
  10. Here are some camp pics I took while in Bourbonnais this weekend: http://i198.photobucket.com/albums/aa250/soulschizm/Rex5size.jpg http://i198.photobucket.com/albums/aa250/soulschizm/Tillman1size.jpg http://i198.photobucket.com/albums/aa250/soulschizm/Rex4size.jpg http://i198.photobucket.com/albums/aa250/soulschizm/Hester1size.jpg http://i198.photobucket.com/albums/aa250/soulschizm/Catch1size.jpg http://i198.photobucket.com/albums/aa250/soulschizm/Bradley1size.jpg http://i198.photobucket.com/albums/aa250/soulschizm/Bernard2size.jpg ....enjoy. If I get some time, I'll crop up some more and post them.
  11. I think Detroit will be better. But they have done little to show me that they can do the 2 most important things a winning football team has to do. 1. protect the QB. 2. stop your opponent from scoring at will. The Lions' players think they will win 10 this year. Yes they do. They did add a great talent @ WR. But I'm not sure they improved at really much else, and those other pieces were terrible last year. Can one WR save you from being an otherwise bad team? I'll have to see it before I'll believe it. For the 8th year in a row..... Haha. Yeah, can you imagine what would happen if Calvin pulled up with an injury early? Like say......broken collar bone? :P Rumor has it Millen has had a secret tunnel dug for just such an occasion. Think pitch-forks and torches :D
  12. Definitely. Best. Ever. I've never been so entertained in my life.
  13. I highly, highly doubt this. I'd be extremely surprised if they played as poorly as .500 ball the rest of the way, much less under .500. The schedule doesn't get any harder than it has been. This week it certainly does. Then the week of 8/24 - 8/30 it's Zona & Milw. - that's tougher. September is incredible though, I think the toughest team we play all month is the Dodgers, and it's one series sandwiched between HOU & PITT.
  14. I hope we don't fall that far, but yes I must agree that even though I don't like hearing that comment, there can't be much argument we have jumped up on the backs of some pretty poor baseball teams.

  16. The old moronic idiot factor. 8-) There's little question in my mind that B&B let a few of the "good" idiots through just to have fun with them. It's sort of part of their schtick. And I think it does, as you suggest, get ratings if done right. I like intelligent callers, but what I don't care for are the prepared-script callers like what Rome does all show long. I can handle it for a segment or two, but not if all your callers have some prepped script that they think is incredibly brilliant, but 99% of the time is just more drivel.
  17. I think they just let the idiots through. Think about it: most people would probably yawn and change the station if it was brainy, intelligent sports talk. They want to hear some fool make an idiot out of himself so they can laugh, or yell at their radios.
  18. I'd rather listen to smart people intelligently criticize (and praise, when it's due) the Cubs than listen to some babbling idiot on the radio. Murphy is a tard. Oh so you'd rather listen to Boers, who I can guarantee he tells his phone people to purposely only let in the people with the stupidest questions on the air so he can criticize people on the air and be a "big tough guy" on the air, huh? Whatever floats your boat. I've already stated once or twice in this thread that I think Boers is just filler. Bernstein is what makes that show tick, and yes, FWIW, I'd rather listen to that than a babbling moron like Mike Murphy. Bernstein is the a-hole that takes all of the idiotic calls. Ok that's him then. When was the last HARD question Bernstein actually had to argue over with a phone caller? Seriously. Can you think of it? I still think he's way smarter than your average sports talk jockey. But yes, they control the calls, which is why you should never, ever call in to a sports talk radio show expecting an even playing field. They control the conversation, who gets on, who doesn't, etc. It's a show.
  19. I'd rather listen to smart people intelligently criticize (and praise, when it's due) the Cubs than listen to some babbling idiot on the radio. Murphy is a tard. Who on the score gives you that? Generally speaking, I find Bernstein to be a pretty smart dude. Really? I think he's an idiot. B&B are the worst. They love to listen to themselves way too much. Dan Bernstein is a really, really smart and well-educated guy. I agree Bernstein is very smart, but I thought you were talking about intelligent, critical sports talk, and B&B probably spend roughly 1/3 of the time actually talking sports. The rest is a mish-mash of other stuff. I'm talking someone who is smart, critical, and actually talks sports the lion's share of the time. I don't think such a person exists on the score -- one of the reasons I really don't listen to the station all that much any more. By the way, Boers spends most of the time babbling, sometimes his sentences are even incoherent to the point where Bernstein can't figure out what he tried to say. Just pointing that out since you said you didn't like to listen to 'babbling.'
  20. He didn't seem to distinguish himself, but to be honest I didn't see Mike Brown flying all over the place either and we pretty much know what he can do when healthy. I wouldn't read too much into it, especially with Archuleta & Brown, because they haven't been hitting full speed and that's the soup du jour for those two guys. When the smacking starts, then we'll see if Arch & MB will be the devastating tandem we all hope they'll be. At any rate we've got a more experienced Daneal Manning and Chris Harris ready to come in, so I'm fine with our Safety situation.
  21. Dealing Pie for a midline fill in player? Don't do it Jim. Even after you leave Chicago, we never forget someone who screws us over. Remember that.
  22. Sheesh, he must think this is the year for the Braves.
  23. I sure as hell question trading Pie for some mediocre player just to try and save Hendry's job. That better not happen. Besides, when the sam hell are we going to develop a player who becomes, you know, GOOD at the major league level? I'm talking positional players here. When?
  24. I'd rather listen to smart people intelligently criticize (and praise, when it's due) the Cubs than listen to some babbling idiot on the radio. Murphy is a tard. Who on the score gives you that?
  25. Agree 100% True. I just never dismiss the Cards, no matter what. And I strongly feel nobody else should, either. Ever. Well, OK -- last week of the season and we're 7 up on the Cards, then I'll dismiss them.
