  1. And this one was started by the pitcher.
  2. yeah i'm hardly encouraged when i hear that he has the worst k/bb and k/9 ratios in baseball, but he's "found a way." That's announcer-speak for "been lucky." I don't remember where I read it(BTF I think), but Trachsel's BABIP was in line with the Cubs team BABIP so, as Ender is tirelessly trying to point out, the Cubs defense should be able to prop up Trachsel's numbers. It's not a bad team to have a guy who's pitching to contact, just keep the BBs and HRs down too if you're not gonna K anyone. Yeah, if he can keep the BB's down, I think he'll do ok in a limited role.
  3. I wouldn't even feel safe then. Don't worry, Trachsel's on the mound. 8-) I don't get all the Trachsel bashing. I know ERA isn't everything, but you have to be doing something right to have a 4.50'ish ERA in the AL East. That's about where Lilly was last year. That stat Len just gave is the reason why people arent thrilled with this move. He has the worst K/bb ratio in all of baseball. That means there are alot of balls put in play along with those walks, so he tends to look for a lot of luck to help him out. The K/BB ratio is the biggest thing that concerns me. Hopefully, he'll keep the walks down, but that's definitely no sure thing. The lack of K's shouldn't be awful since we have a very good defensive infield and 2/3rds of a good defensive outfield.
  4. Maybe they want you on the edge of your seat. You might appreciate the wins more. :D Hey..... I'm old !! I could have a heart attack !!! Crap. Then who would give us our meaningless stats? See there... ya better take care of me !! I will protect you with my life sir.

He hasn't been good, but it wouldn't shock me if he improved some in the incredibly weak NL Central and now in the middle of a pennant race. So long as he isn't overused, I'm kinda ok with him.

  9. GREAT PLAY THERIOT! And Trachsel works (lucks?) out of the jam!
  10. very similar result though. Ward got one out with the heads up throw.
  11. Then he catches a slight break. Hopefully he builds off it.
  12. He did have a pitch to hit and hit it very, very hard. Just extremely unlucky. Yea he did, but DeRo has been terrible the 2nd half His OPS is in he 600's for the 2nd half, Id much rather see him take a few pitches just to see if we can scratch something across. I fully understand your point. I just don't really have a problem with it if it's absolutely the hitters' pitch. And that, quite obviously, was DeRo's.
  13. He did have a pitch to hit and hit it very, very hard. Just extremely unlucky.
  14. Kroeger's hurt and out for the year (I'm almost positive). Not sure why they went with Fuld over Craig though - maybe they want another center fielder, which would mean Fuld.
  15. FSU loses and the Clemson fans tried twice unsuccessfully to run out onto the field, only to finally get to stay on the third try. The Noles may have a long, long year.
  16. And after a throw away, Weatherford scrambling for a yard and then a Greg Carr drop on an easy catch, the Noles have to punt. Clemson takes the ball on the FSU 43 with 5:29 left.
  17. Clemson burned five minutes off the clock, but a bonehead move by their receiver sets up fourth down. A terrific punt sets up FSU on its own 4 with 6:31 to go.
  18. Whoever the new owner is, he'll bring in his own ideology. Individual players who are performing will be kept, but if an underperforming player doesn't fit the philosophy of the new owner, (possibly) new GM, etc. they won't be kept - playoff run or not. Either way, I don't think wholesale changes will or should be made. This team has the basis to be very good, it just needs the right parts added (a few guys with good to very good OBPs, a little more power, etc). The only way I think major changes would be made is if the team was as terrible as last year, at which point Hendry would definitely be fired and the team would go through a rebuilding mode with a new GM. So, in short, yes I want this team to make the playoffs because I see no good in them not making it.
  19. yeah clemson is pretty solid but the noles look AWFUL FSU's making a comeback. 24-18 Clemson with 11:31 left in the game. The Tigers better watch out, the Noles may perform bad, but they're talented when they decide to play.
  20. It's not amazing, but we should have hit him much harder. Also, I'm almost positive he started the rainout against Z. He was unhittable for the three or so innings we played.
  21. He's pitched very well against us, I believe. That fuels much of my hatred.
  22. I was the first vote for Looper. It was close for me between him and Wells, primarily because neither have been any good until they hit the Cards. Looper especially has been career long reliever and now all of a sudden can easily go 6-7 strong innings. Bah. And, if Looper and Wells are 1a and 1b, Edmonds is a very, very close 2 on my list. This vote was far tougher than which Brewer we hate the most.
  23. I think some would argue it'd be like seeing St. Louis lose to San Diego's AAA affiliate. I would love to see St. Louis lose to anybody's AAA affiliate. :D
