  1. Murton singled, but Werth bobbled the ball on the dive. Murt ended up on second. I think it was scored a double. Ronny walks after nearly being hit twice.
  2. Werth in left can't make the catch, Murton ends up on second to lead off the inning!
  3. Doesn't really matter if Rollins is on second or third, single still scores him. Was ball 4 as really a strike like gameday shows it as? No, but ball 3 was.
  4. Rowand walks after Rollins swipes third. Runners on first and third, two out for Burrell.
  5. Are Cherry and Wuertz all that's left? and Ohman Oh yeah, thanks.
  6. After Sori stole second, Theriot pinch hit for Fontenot who already had a 1-1 count. Theriot then walked. Lee up, runners on first and second w/2 out.
  7. Yay! We gotta win this flippin' game. Exactly. A win and we're in first place! :D full count on Theriot with Lee waiting.
  8. Interesting, Theriot enters to pinch hit with a 1-1 count already.
  9. Mets Win!! Wagner struggled in the ninth, but got Hardy to pop out with runners on first and second. Guaranteed not to lose ground. :D
  10. Leave it to rotoworld to put everything in perspective. Which version of Theriot are we gonna get the rest of the way? Do you really wanna risk getting the one from earlier this season? And you want Ronny Cedeno is start with his .150 average? I think I stated quite clearly before that we should make a move for a guy like Renteria. You do realize that the Braves are in the same playoff hunt as the Cubs? They're no way they're going to give the Cubs Renteria for basically prospects. Maybe if the Cubs were in the AL. Did you even bother reading my earlier post? JS absolutely loves Yunel Escobar, and has been offering up Edgar Renteria in deals for starting pitchers like Jon Garland because he feels comfortable with what he has to cover SS. Atlanta has been talking to Cinci trying to get Arroyo. I think that's the perfect situation for a three-way trade. Renteria to the Cubs, Arroyo to the Braves, and Cubs prospects to Cinci and perhaps another prospect to the Braves. The question I have to this is, what prospects are you willing to give up and what are the Reds asking for. If they want Pie, Gallagher and Murton for Arroyo (Renteria to us) would you do it? With what Krivsky's apparently asking for Dunn (and the fact that Krivsky just seems to be an idiot), I'm not sure that's a ridiculous thought. Much as I like Renteria, I really don't think I'd give up Pie to get him. If it could be done with Murton as the centerpiece, I'd say Hendry would have done it long ago.
  11. C, SS, and CF Would you like to tell me who's avaliable in those positions because I don't see very many options there. Some upper-mid level options that could certainly be had? Ramon Hernandez, Edgar Renteria, and Torii Hunter. Before you get to it, I know you'll doubt Edgar Renteria, but everything I've heard indicates that Atlanta is willing to part with him for some starting pitching. Schuerholz is apparently real high on Yunel Escobar. We could work a three-way deal with Cinci where Arroyo goes to Atlanta, Renteria comes here, and our prospects go to Cinci, and maybe another to Atlanta. I would absolutely love to add Renteria. The question I have, though, is do we have the starting pitching to get him. It's really inexplicable that Schuerholz was willing to part with Renteria for Jon Garland, but was he willing to do it because he values Renteria so little or (for whatever odd reason) he values Garland so much? Is it not possible that he doesn't feel Marshall will continue his production to this point and that he is either uninterested or unable to take on Marquis' 2 more years? That leaves only Hill who could help the rotation this year that we could offer, and it's quite likely that Hendry feels that's too high a price to pay for Renteria. I'd be willing to give up Marquis or Marshall in a trade that improves the offense significantly, but I'm afraid losing Hill would hurt the rotation too much, despite how much I'd love to get Renteria.
  12. If a trade isn't made, does that necessarily mean Hendry didn't try? I realize he made the statements that he's happy with the current roster, but never indicated he had no desire to improve the team. In fact, he said if the opportunity arose to improve the team, he'd do it. To me, that sounds as if he's at least trying to make the current roster better. The problem is, though, that all these statements I've seen from Hendry are cliches. Of course a general manager is going to say he wants to improve the team, just like any GM is going to say he's happy with the current situation if a move isn't made. They're all pretty much worthless in the general discussion, especially given the fact that people such as Bruce have said he's been making a concerted effort to get a trade done. That gives me the idea he feels there is some need to improve things. I'll be just as disappointed as anybody if nothing's done, but given the potential trade rumors I've heard (Dye for Marmol, Pie for Laird) if that's what other GMs are demanding, it hurts us more than helps to get a deal done. Apparently, from everything I've heard, the sellers are simply asking for more than Hendry is willing to pay for mostly mediocre upgrades. The only significant upgrades out there, Griffey and Dunn, are either very possibly not available (Griffey) or far too pricey (Dunn). Therefore, I'll be disappointed if a trade isn't made, but won't blame Hendry for this particular occurence. In fact, it may be to his credit that he won't sell the farm for slight upgrades.
  13. I also have Directv and I also have been told that Cincinnati is my "local" team even though I live in North Carolina. Atlanta is a lot closer to my locale than Cincinnati but I guess the powers that be don't want to blackout a team that has a superstation. I called Directv about this and they say blackout rules are determined by MLB. The Braves are actually a local team of mine too, which is not an issue because I get TBS. The Cincinnati thing makes no sense whatsoever, though.
  14. Let me guess, Dunn expects to be traded to the Cubs any minute now? :D
  15. I just remembered I'm not going to get to watch the game even though I have the Extra Innings package because, inexplicably, the freaking CINCINNATI Reds are my local team when I live halfway between Knoxville and Chattanooga, TENNESSEE. Oh, how I hate MLB, DirecTV and anybody else involved in these stupid local area listings.
  16. That's freaking cool, my friend. While I don't get to go to any NFL games, a kid from one of the schools I cover signed with Tennessee this year and it sounds like I'm going to get to attend five Vol games this year in the press box. Being at as small a paper as I am, that's a pretty big deal.
  17. I don't think he'll hurt us too much with his bat. So long as Rusch doesn't come back to pitch today. :D
  18. After failing to pull in Keyshawn and taking a guy who wasn't any good in college (Paul Williams), the Titans upgraded their receiving corps with Eric Moulds. I kinda like this move, Moulds isn't the greatest receiver in the game or anything, but he's had 67 catches each of the past 9 seasons - better than any of our receivers. Plus, he adds a little veteran leadership to our group of baby receivers. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2949209
  19. Skip's great. Don Sutton isn't with TBS anymore though. He does Nationals' games now. Crap. I keep confusing Sutton and Joe Simpson for whatever reason. I knew one was with the Nationals, but thought it was Simpson. Skip and Chip together is probably my favorite duo on TV, Skip and Pete together is best on the radio.
  20. Replacing Hill with Gallagher/Holliman/Dempster/bargain bin refuse is an enormous dropoff, you know that. I'd feel much better (obviously) trading Marshall over Hill. A trade for Salty with Marshall as the centerpiece I do without a doubt, if Hill's the centerpiece, I'm not sure I do it.
  21. I really like the Braves' TBS crew (Skip and Chip along with Don Sutton and Pete Van Wieren) even though I know they are unpopular here. The best non-Len and Bob announcers, though, are Vin Scully and Harry Kalas. Both are incredible.
  22. I would suspect his good OBP last year along with a strong second half performance weighed heavily in the decision. As well as the fact that Kendall had success under Gerald Perry while he was in Oakland and Lou and Perry probably felt they could fix him. I'm not giving up on him yet, but as many have stated, it's looking bad early on.
