  1. I would be shocked if the Ravens weren't willing to give up value to get Ryan ahead of the Chiefs. I just see no good reason to take a player at 3 when there are players just as good (if not better) who will be available in the second round - Brian Brohm, Joe Flacco, etc.
  2. Even though I wouldn't put it past the Falcons to take him, I wouldn't want Ryan in my top 3. The only options I would consider would be Dorsey or trade down.
  3. It's not extremely deep, but it's certainly not weak. There's a good chance the Packers will have one of Mike Jenkins, Aqib Talib or Antoine Cason available at 30. Any of the three would be a solid pick for them.
  4. I agree. If a team is looking for a true, prototypical full back, Schmidt is most definitely their man. Hester is a bit more versatile, though, hence why I think he'd be a slightly better fit.
  5. No more than four. Feel free to begin discussing each team. That works. I'd say guard would be on the top of the Dolphins' list. Don't know much about Trey Darilek and Ikechuku Ndukwe, but I know their offensive line hasn't been good for years. That said, I'd likely go with Mike McGlynn. He's big and strong, both traits Parcells seems to like quite a bit. Or, the Dolphins could break the full back barrier and take Jacob Hester or Owenn Schmidt. Hester may fit them better, though I could see waiting another round for him. Weird, I had full back as one word and it asterisk'd it out... Why in the world is full back blocked?
  6. Wow, I have no problem with giving up a fourth rounder if Pacman isn't reinstated - but to give one up if he gets in trouble and suspended later on? As much as I like getting a fourth rounder for Pac, I really don't like that clause. If he's reinstated, plays 15 games and then gets suspended before game 16, it seems very wrong that we would then have to give up a fourth rounder to Dallas. They know the risk involved with someone like Pacman.
  7. How long are we allowing for third round picks? Six hours? or four?
  8. Porter is probably the top corner left at this point. The Pats could also use young help at LB, perhaps Erin Henderson or Shawn Crable?
  9. I'm ok with this. OK, just don't rush me on the Giants pick this afternoon, I've got stuff going on and haven't even gone through who is still available. The Pats have had about 3 hours now. Six hours to each of the two second round picks left then? Does that work for you? Don't need that much time. 4 hours would mean this pick is done by consensus within the hour, giving me until 4:30 eastern time this afternoon to make my last pick. If that works for you, then I'm cool with it. Too bad GoCubsGo isn't around, though.

  11. I had hoped we could get him for a fifth, but I can live with a fourth. My guess is with Pacman in the fold, the Cowboys will go WR/RB in the first. Yea, apparently the teams compromised to a fourth. I know the Titans wanted a third and heard Jones only wanted to give up a fifth, so it appears they met in the middle. According to The Ranch Report, the Cowboys also will give up a conditional pick in 2009 based on Pacman's playing time in 2008. Furthermore, if he doesn't get re-instated, the Titans will send the Cowboys an undisclosed pick in the 2009 draft. It appears that caveat was what made Jerry go ahead and up it to a fourth rounder. I had heard that the Titans would give up a conditional pick (I'd think likely a fifth or sixth) if Pac wasn't reinstated, but hadn't heard the Cowboys would give one up if Pac plays a lot. I like the deal even better now.
  12. I think his ability to return kicks is worth the pick the Cowboys gave to get him. I wouldn't say probowl caliber, but if he's on the field he adds some depth to the position. He's definitely better than a lot of the CB in the league. Also, with this trade, the Cowboys answered one of their needs. I wouldn't be surprised to see them try to move up to get DMac now. Right this moment I'm not sure Pacman's a Pro Bowler, but he no doubt has the ability. Part of what is so frustrating about his legal troubles is that he was making huge progress during his final year playing with the Titans. He has the potential to be one of the best in the game (think a step below the level of Champ Bailey), but he needs to stay on the field to do it. I doubt he has the maturation at this point to do it - he certainly wasn't showing it this past year with Tennessee.

  14. According to ESPN, the Titans and Cowboys have agreed to a trade of Pacman. Dallas is giving up its fourth round pick in this draft, which is a great deal for Tennessee. Also, oddly, the Titans have forced Pacman to donate $500,000 to a charity of their choice. :? Odd.
  15. I agree completely. Hasselbeck needs more weapons anyway and Davis is a solid receiving tight end. So, the Seahawks select Fred Davis and now Flames is on the clock. I'll PM him.
  16. Andre Caldwell is the Florida receiver in this draft, not Reche. So who was the mod who edited my post and put the wrong name in there to make me look like an idiot? :x I certainly know who Andre Caldwell is, he was one of my best WRs in fantasy last year (besides the two UC Berkeley WR - Hawkins and Jackson). Not blaming you Raisin, just pointing it out. :D Though I wouldn't mind seeing a mod fight...
  17. Overpayment by the Vikes, but not a dreadful deal. Excellent move by the Chiefs. Yeah but I guess the way I spin it is we were likely going to go DE with #17 if this deal hadn't gone through. The 3rd round pick from the Broncos was gravy for sliding down a few spots last year in the 4th round and getting the guy we wanted. It was a steal. Would I trade Phillip Merling and two 3rd's to acquire an elite DE in his prime and lock him up for 6 years? Yep. Our d-line could be really scary next year and we have both Allen and K. Williams in their prime years. Ray Edwards is really coming along and Robison had a very good rookie season. They'll just need to find/groom a replacement for Pat Williams in the next two years. Yeah, it was overpayment but that doesn't mean they shouldn't have done it. Allen is definitely a terrific talent and this makes the Vikes' defensive stellar and - as you said - they're likely to take an end in the first round anyway. Overpayment, but justifiably so I guess. :D
  18. Andre Caldwell is the Florida receiver in this draft, not Reche.
  19. If Saturday turns out this way for the Titans - James Hardy in round 1 and Lawrence Jackson in round 2 - I'll absolutely be turning backflips. Add on a Brad Cottam or Fred Davis in the third round and this team looks a lot stronger next season. I also wouldn't mind them taking a look at Dre Moore in the second or third round at DT.
  20. Overpayment by the Vikes, but not a dreadful deal. Excellent move by the Chiefs.
  21. Nice one PriorPower! I've actually had him targeted since Quentin Groves went off the board. The Titans have needs at DE, G, DT, CB and another offensive playmaker. The depth at guard is still strong (I like Greco, McGlynn and Eric Young) as well as DT. There are offensive playmakers that'll last til the third round (Brad Cottam from Tennessee for instance, who I'd love) and corner is a need, but not that big. Thus, with the 24th pick of the second round of the 2008 NFL draft, the Titans select: defensive end, University of Southern California, Lawrence Jackson Jackson will fit nicely in a platoon-type system with Jevon Kearse across from Vanden Bosch and ultimately (hopefully) take over as the starter of the future once Kearse wears down. This is a great place to get a talent like Jackson, as I see him as likely an early second/perhaps late first round pick according to talent. mhuber and the Seahawks are now on the clock. I'll PM him now.
  22. Sorry Truffle, didn't realize you weren't PM'd. We need to make sure to do that after each pick. You cool with King Dunlap?
  23. Allen's a real good player, but I doubt he's worth that much. That's a king's ransom. Also, in other news, I heard the Bengals turned down an offer of two first round picks for Ocho Cinco. Not a good move on their part methinks. Was it Dallas? It was actually Washington - and I've later heard it was a conditional third round pick that could become a first rounder plus another first. Also, do we give Philly the King, or give Truffle longer?
