  1. Have you heard anything on Georgia trying for Mike Anderson? I have no idea if they'd have a realistic shot at beating out Mizzou's extension offer, but I keep hearing rumors that he's UGAs frontrunner.
  2. Esteban German could probably do it as acceptably well as Miles. Especially considering he'd be getting paid $2 million less and for one less year.
  3. ELCABALLO has authorized me to go ahead and make the selection for him, so here we go. The Patriots really don't have many needs left at this point, so they'll go with the best player left on the board. So, the Patriots select WR Brandon Tate from North Carolina. It's amazing that Tate fell this far, as he's probably got mid-late 2nd round value. The Pats are certainly deep at WR - especially after signing Joey Galloway - but Galloway's only got a couple years at best left and Moss has a little age on him. Behind Moss, Welker and Galloway, there's not much, so Tate would be the fourth receiver for a while. Atlanta and Vanilla Ice are now on the clock. I will PM him.
  4. I like Beckwith. ELCABALLO and the Pats are now on the clock. I have PMd him.
  5. No sign of Warp for the past 24 hours, so I guess I'll make the selection. The Dolphins seem to have a strong need in the secondary, with very little depth and - in my opinion - not the best of starters. So, the Dolphins select Sherrod Martin, CB/S, from Troy. Martin is very athletic and physical and has the ability to play safety or corner, giving the Fins some flexibility as to where they want to play him. WrigleyField 22 and the Ravens are now on the clock. I'll PM him.
  6. Gotta keep the process going. :D Warpticon and the Dolphins are now on the clock. I PMd him (and we'll see how many others did as well, I guess).
  7. Great pick. You're right that he could easily be the best TE in the draft. PCP and Minnesota are now on the clock. I PMd him.
  8. UConn's not missing much of anything right now.
  9. Missouri's looking completely out of sorts right now.
  10. My bracket's ruined, so I'm pulling for Pitt and Mizzou today.
  11. That was awesome. I was hoping for more OTs, but it's hard to complain about that ending.
  12. Findlay just won the Division II championship on a fall away three at the buzzer in overtime. They completed an undefeated season. Crazy.
  13. Gilbert already shot up the board to the 2nd round. I just don't see him as having enough momentum to get - and stay - that high.
  14. If there are no objections, we'll go ahead and take Flames' recommendation for the Packers' pick - since it's been 24 hours and no sign of Mark. So, the Packers select Victor "Macho" Harris, CB, from Va Tech. The Bears are now on the clock. I'll PM Raisin.
  15. In the next incarnation Maclin will be long gone by the time Chicago picks. In earlier versions I actually had Harvin, and I know one of the keys for them is that he can supplant Peterson as the 3rd down RB, which is a point of emphasis this offseason. Now that they signed Kevin Shaffer (GREAT move IMO), it sure looks like Harvin is a real possibility. But don't rule out a 3-technique DT to play next to Harris at that spot either--and both Peria Jerry and Jarron Gilbert are in play. Kenny Britt has their attention too, and they love his size at WR. I think they'd be crazy to take Jarron Gilbert in the middle of the first round. I like him, but he ought to be there early to mid second. They could probably trade up from their current second round spot a few positions and get him relatively easily.
  16. Just an FYI, Chung was taken by the Rams with the second pick of the third round. Ah, didn't see that. Then I fully endorse Harris...we'll see what Mark has to offer. Macho's interesting. I could see him playing corner or safety, though I've heard he'll likely be a safety in the NFL. Not enough speed for corner - except for a Cover 2 - from what I hear.
  17. Just an FYI, Chung was taken by the Rams with the second pick of the third round.
  18. Since the discussion is happening here, I'll go ahead and post this here. Gillispie is officially out.
  19. He has a driver take him everywhere he goes at night because of his drinking and the university not wanting to deal with a DUI. I'd say he has a bit of a drinking issue. Ah, never knew that. But like I said, I haven't heard any word that it is a reason he may be fired. All I've heard is that he's not hobnobbing with enough big-time people with the university and that the winning only makes that worse.
  20. From what I've heard, it's almost as much based on off the floor stuff than actual performance. Though missing the tourney for the first time in forever certainly doesn't help. They knew about the drinking before they hired him. Is there something else? He stopped winning. This firing has nothing to do with Billy's off-court behavior. If he won 25 games this year, somehow UK would be able to put up with his boozing. I haven't heard a thing about him drinking. Everything I've heard about is that he's not winning enough and how he's not sucking up to the high rollers at UK enough. He's turned away some speaking engagements that were 70+ year traditions and that's angered quite a few important people at Kentucky. If they were winning 25 games a year and going far in the NCAA tournament, those off-the-court things might be overlooked, but they're certainly playing a part now.
  21. It's been roughly 24 hours and no sign of rchap, so I guess I'll make the pick here. The Redskins have pretty big needs at DE and CB, but there's better value later at end and there are a couple of corners left who are good values here. So, the Redskins select Keenan Lewis, CB, Oregon State. weis and Tampa Bay are now on the clock. I'll PM him.
  22. Is the GM in charge of farm development, or is that even over Hendry's head? If not, that's just one more reason why he should get the boot. The Brewers have a fantastic farm system and have developed what many consider to be a future ace (Gallardo), and one hell of a lineup in Hardy, Fielder, Braun, Gamiel, etc. There is no reason that the Cubs shouldn't be able to do that with their resources. Hendry is in charge of farm development, I'm pretty sure. He was also the head of the farm system before becoming GM. However, keep in mind we've developed Z, Soto, Fontenot, Theriot, Marshall and Marmol. Our prospects have also netted us Lee (Choi) and Aramis (Hill and Bruback). We've had a lot of disappointing prospects, but we've developed a pretty decent core as well.
  23. Yeah, that's why I mentioned that he was pretty banged up a lot of the time as well. Had he had games between the SEC Title game and the bowl game, he would not have played those. And he missed two games last year - the SEC championship game and the opening Hawaii game. If I remember right, though, he could have played the Hawaii game if they had any need for him. The only thing Pat White has on Harvin in that system is the threat of throwing the ball. I don't know if Harvin can throw it or not, while White has a pretty decent arm.
  24. Harvin wasn't just a RB at Florida, but he did line up in the backfield quite often. Urban Meyer didn't have a good, productive running back until last year, so Harvin was his best option to put back there. However, running the spread option, it wasn't an oddity for Harvin to run some routes out of the backfield. He also lined up at wideout quite a bit, so it's not like he'll be Hester-like raw at running routes.
  25. Yeah, he got hurt fairly consistently at Florida. He's an incredible talent with terrific speed and surprisingly good strength, but he was on and off the field quite a bit at UF. That said, I think he's well worth the risk durability-wise. As I said, he's a terrific athlete. I do wonder, however, if he'd be the best pick for the Bears. He's a more polished, stronger receiver than Hester, but they both have very similar styles. I would think a DHB, Nicks or Britt type would be better since you already have Hester. I've heard questions about DHB & Britt's hands. If that's true, there's nothing that can kill a WR prospect faster than dropping the ball. Yeah, they definitely have some concerns surrounding their hands. But, both are extremely physically gifted and, I think, worth the risk. I'd put them behind Crabtree, Maclin, Harvin though. Harvin completely missed 5 games in his college career (three years). He was very banged up in quite a few more, but a lot of that - like raw said - was because he played a lot of running back at Florida. You eliminate him running in between the tackles as much, I think the injuries would drop. How much is the question, though.
